I’ve never rated Bowen particularly highly. I think you see his level better when he plays for England and he isn’t the main man on the team. Never looks up to the standard of his teammates there.

I should have came in this thread first as I've just posted pretty much this but not as eloquently as you have in the transfer rumours thread  spot on assessment of him

Bowen is good for the odd worldie but his decision making is often poor, perfect example yesterday with that one he hit straight at Pope when he had a man over.

Probably sounds like I’m trying to be smart after the event. But I’ve never understood the fascination with Bowen. Especially when you consider his age and what he’d cost.

His decision making also let him down at times. But I thought Summerville looked the far bigger threat. The more exciting player to watch this season, too.

Bowen is 30 ish now isn't he? Need to be looking at a different profile of player. Plus he'll still cost a few quid.

Links with Bowen absolutely infuriate me, especially when they are still happening 6 years after the time they might have made sense. He's been a good player without being particularly quick, but why would we be interested now given we've specifically said we aren't going to buy players at the end of their career arc?

I find it funny that people criticize Howe and transfers and then Bowen is brought up when it's the exact sort of thing the club has been criticized for.

Bowen is exactly the type of player you want to avoid. 30 this year and past his peak.

Wingers absolutely drop off a cliff at about his age.

He should have been an option 3 years ago. Not now.

If anyone’s a fan of passive aggressive cockney fume, I highly recommend the West Ham Fan TV YouTube channel.

He’s got “playing until 36 at Everton” written all over him.

Between his first 30 second double assault on Bruno and the goal I thought he was quiet.

Jimmy Summerville the pick of the bunch for them imo

All i needed for my bet builder after 22 mins was for summerville to commit 1 foul. As a result I was watching him quite closely, and he literally spent the game jogging around at about 50% effort. No way he would work in a Howe team

I have no idea, but that's fair. I should have considered that.

Wouldn't surprise me though tbf. Some not so logical posters  But yeah I personally think it's 100% the wrong signing.

 Yeah fair, but like I probably shouldn't just assume anyway. I agree it's not a signing we should be making.

Really liked the switch in formation and system. Lots of cutting vertical passes through the middle, our play was a lot more varied I thought.  Not perfect but promising, a top DM would be great
