All because too many people spend too much time believing every tidbit of transfer speculation they read on the Twatter

I hope you’re not putting me in with the Happyclappers by the way, I’m just a realist on capitalism and the mechanics of football transfers.

I think most rational people realise we’ve been played and Liverpool are experienced operators in a position of privilege doing this constantly.

However, people also have legitimacy to be concerned over whether the club have learned their lessons with Ekitike, Pedro and Sesko, or whether it’s rinse and repeat of “bid, pause, hijacked” of last year with big beasts consistently doing us over.

At this point I’m choosing to believe we’ve been used by agents again rather than there being a fundamental problem on our side.

Either way, I’m totally gutted. He looked exactly the sort of profile we should be targeting. And the fact it’s Liverpool makes it even worse after the Ekitike and Isak horror show of 2025.

When was the last time we successfully competed with a team to sign a player?

Woltemade. Bayern were in talks for weeks but wouldn’t pay the fee we would. They then had a massive public huff about it.

We almost always spend way too much time in trying to get a deal done and waiting and so on. Need to be more ruthless. Obviously there's reasons sometime why we have to wait and so on. It's just that we always wait for too long and spend too many weeks instead of being more ruthless and decisive. When/if it stalls walk away instead of wasting time. Fucking annoying. Pay up and demand answers quickly or there's no deal.

Need to stop allowing others to take use of us.

Indeed, if we’re going after players that will also be of interest to Liverpool and their ilk then it’s a case of the definition of madness being doing the same thing over and over again whilst expecting a different result.

We need to be shopping in Lidl, not Waitrose.

Some people are impressive in the way they are able to twist more or less anything and make excuses for 99%. I'm genuinely impressed. Obviously there's reasons and cause for it at times, that's not my point.

Some are too negative i'd like to add, and some are delusional with their excuses at times.

Or me it's easier to be positive and supportive of the club when we know zero about what has actually gone on behind the scenes.

They did learn their lesson and didn't go for high transfer fee, high profile players.

We agreed a fee according to Ryder.

The player chose the more successful club who can offer bigger wages. Don't think there's much more to it.

After last summer, absolutely sick of it though

Yeah it feels like there's always a window where the agent and player wait to see if a bigger fish joins the party. Inevitably, in our case, they always do.

If we know zero of what has gone on behind the scenes how can we then make excuses for just about anything

Personally I’m not one of the negative posters (people that go to far) but it’s pretty obvious that for whatever reasons we are very slow and not decisive overall. Don’t even need to know about the background to see the obvious that we allow things too much time.

Im not just talking about this particular transfer alone, just in general. Some people really go negative mode and overboard with things, but then there’s also plenty of of people saying valid things and making good points, and still I see many making excuses for just about everything. There’s a middleground between supporting and being positive about EVERYTHING and also being negative about everything.

My biggest annoyance is how much time we allow before we walk away. It takes away much time of other deals. Yes I’m aware we can/should be able to work on a few at the same time. Just doubt we are very good at it.. Or the haggling over minor amounts of cash.
