How does this first line work when everything was agreed with club, player & agent? If we do it 2 weeks ago, all that happens is Liverpool make their move 2 weeks ago too. Tiresome. Both football wise and on here.

Exactly, there's no scenario where he couldn't call Liverpool before putting pen to paper.

We want good players. Other clubs want good players and some of them are bigger and have more money.

Of course we pull out. We give the kid and his agent an ultimatum and if he doesn’t accept, THEN we use the media to our advantage by making it known we’ve walked away. This then sets a precedent for other players and agents. Liverpool can’t sign every cunt.

This is correct, in an industry where face and reputation matters it serves you well to stop people taking the piss.

Instead, people will look at this as haha Newcastle cucked again. Everything aside that isn't a good look.

I agree sometimes threads are made way too early but starting a thread of a deal that is definately in the works stops the rumours thread getting clogged up with pages of the one player

I disagree.

Let the transfer thread get clogged up.

People see a player thread and get massively emotionally invested and act like lunatics.

Start a thread on a player when a player is on the books at NUFC.

Fair approach to take, I think it would lead to a lot of deals collapsing though.

Good. We control the situation, we control the narrative and we move on. What we don’t do is blow about in the fucking wind waiting to be chosen or outbid by others.

Set the parameters and move on. And do it every time. Explain this to Agents before you even begin conversations.

We like player x but this is how we work.

- If you leak it, we pull out

- If you move the goalposts once a deal is agreed in principle, we pull out

- We will pay you a handsome fee for getting it done by x date. If we don’t your fee reduces and we’ll not do business with you next time.
- If the player has other options, he will have until x date to make his decision. If those other interested parties cannot complete by our drop dead date, we’ll pull out and you risk being stuck with an unhappy player who didn’t get any move.
- If you play the game, we’ll recommend you to other players and also give you exclusivity on xyz terms.

Nope.

We've been negotiating a deal package about £1m shy of the release clause if everything came true. That's largely the gap between June 4th and now. It doesn't take 2 weeks to agree personal terms with a player from Osasuna.

Liverpool activated the release clause. We would have known they were in the background.

Yeah, I mean in an ideal world this would work. Just not sure how possible it is in reality. Especially if the delay is as small as one day.

I endorse This approach.

Will we miss out on some players? Sure. But we will have players who actually want to be here. Id actually go further and layout the long term plan for players we are signing. If they have ambition to play for Madrid I'll carve it out them no bother.

Liverpool just got Iraola in 2-weeks ago. I think he's been crucial to this transfer. There's a world we get the deal done or at least save a bunch of time before Iraola even gets to Liverpool.

All reports are that Liverpool decided to sack Slot fairly late in the day.

The idea that time doesn't matter is ridiculous.

This is exactly what would have been the right decision, there is no delay, no time to think, do you want to come or not? Unfortunately, we have to be ruthless, either we do it this way, or do we like it when the floor is wiped clean with us, like last summer?

Based on what? The player being Spanish?

Come on now

Feel like we're in a bit of a negativity spiral here, going to be a really tricky summer to navigate.

Aye, I think how last season ended we needed a bit of a boost to kick pre season off

It is for signing a football player.

Is it? It's a multi party, multi million deal which involves a player moving country and committing himself for several years. And he has an agent tasked with getting the most money for them both.

I'm no expert but I think it's going to take a while. I've taken longer than that to get a new job.

Come on now

1. I don't think Liverpool sign any first-team players before sorting out their management situation. So that was a window of opportunity.

2. I think Munoz is very much a Iraola style player and being Spanish I do think he would've been particularly keen on him. If Iraola didn't want Munoz, would they still sign him as their first signing? I doubt that.

It is conjecture yes. But there's logic to it.

In reality? We sign nobody.

Again we signed Isak in 4 days.

By all accounts - Liverpool moved in anger over a few days max.

It’s not about delays, it’s about us being in control of the process and not a fucking victim of it man.

We’re gonna be wandering around the dance floor at 4am when every other bastard has taken a worldie home and we’re looking at the ugly fatties and wondering which is the least worse before the club closes and we’re going home alone.

We’ve just lost the best bird in our nightclub to the same cunt that fucked us last summer. We need a radical new approach for the rest of them otherwise all we’re getting is laughed at and dose of the clap to show for our night out.
