Gives the club good PR by allowing under privileged groups into the ground, ensures future supporters and would be the best thing you could do for the atmosphere. Newcastle United are not little Sunderland, what a strange thing to say !!

In reply to both you @tgarve There's been plenty of talk on this message board about the atmosphere in the ground with people talking about having singing areas, standing etc, when people are nostalgic about the crowds pre-Keegan. Yes standing played a big part in the atmosphere in the old days but another huge part of it was 13-16 year olds from places like Walker, Byker, Daisy Hill and Wallsend (I'm sure there must have been the same from the East End too). In those days, you could just turn up on the day in a large group and we probably attended about half of the games in a season. They were a huge part of the atmosphere. Those very same kids are now some of the most passionate fans the club has. How are 13-16 year old from those areas going to be able to attend the match now, and more importantly in large groups which would rely on all of their parents having enough money at the same time? It's worth adding that relatively speaking those areas are much more deprived now than they were pre-Keegan. Build a 80,000 stadium and if we can fill it then great, if not then offer discounted tickets to the areas above and similar to ensure full-price fans in the future and a better atmosphere. Stifler Posted yesterday at 13:21 Share Posted yesterday at 13:21 If we are building an 80k seater stadium, we absolutely should be letting kids/concessions/poor people in the ground at £10 a ticket and doing our bit with community groups to get some people in who wouldn’t ordinarily have a chance. I’m not saying fill the stadium up on them, but somewhere between 1,000-5,000 tickets should be offered this way.

Nothing wrong with encouraging youth to attend, just don't get precious about inflated attendances at the same time.
midds
The way I see it we're only going to do this once so think as big a capacity as possible and build it that size. No point going 65k if it means we're still locking people out every week, we need a much money into the club as possible. If we need to grow into it then fine. If we're pulling in, say, 71k a week at first then that's fine. No point in going smaller then having to expand in 10 years time. Do it right, go big and make it superb. JigsawGoesToPieces
70k is more than enough, I still don't think we would sell an extra 27,000 tickets every home game especially against the likes of Brighton, Forest, Palace, Brentford, Fulham, Wolves plus whoever the newly promoted teams are (for example we got over 52,196 v Southampton, 52,220 v Brighton, 52,235 v Leicester, will be interesting to see what the attendance is for the other teams I mentioned we haven't played at home yet this season. Even if we sold out 80,000 every week, an extra 27,000 tickets is only around £1.3m extra per game based on £50 a ticket (no idea what the price is these days tbf). PIF know they can make much more off the corporate so id be expect more boxes (maybe going the length of the stadium) and less of the peasant seats that the average joe can afford. Even if not full at 80k every week, we would still need to pay for the same match day costs like catering, stewards, police etc unless we closed off an entire section

And that's completely discounting the extra corporate facilities that will be charged £300-£500 a game.
midds
Basically I'm saying the number that you put at the end of this sentence should be the size of the new ground: "If everything goes according to plan then we might need a ground big enough to hold ................" Whatever that number is, that's the new capacity imo

This will be a concern at executive level.

Sima
Isn’t that a requirement for dining space rather than space in the stands? I’ll admit that the logistics will be a negative factor in the buyer’s mind.
