I think the cultures changed a bit too tbf, so it’s not all down to being priced out.

The culture changed due to the pricing out.  Football decided it didn’t want groups of young lads going.  It wanted older people with money and families, and none of them said a peep.  Now it wants tourists.  Martin Niemöller got this right.

‘SJP currently has a lot of limitations, they have been advised the east stand development would fail and be costly. Even extending Gallowgate would not allow a multi-sport venue , due to the stadium only having the one tunnel which is height restricted’

’There have been many bands that have declined using SJP to gig because it is apparently a nightmare to get equipment in and out, which uses up tour time and it was even a consideration for FENDER to do it all again there because of the costs to get equipment in.’

Wish the Twatter links could be blocked on the forum. Or at least Spoilered

It’s a cess pit of lies

Fair enough if people still feel the need to use it for their own reasons, but would be better if people didn’t post visible links to the lies that non-Twatter users can see. Or post links in the Twitter Lies thread or whatever its called

I wouldn’t go down The Top House in N Shields and present what Mad Terry the Pisshead is spouting as facts on here. And he probably talks more sense than most Twatter content

That's a bit uncalled for, don't you think?

I'm glad you had a fantastic night. All of the production equipment that facilitated your lovely time had to be loaded in to the stadium. All of it arrives on articulated lorries which are cumbersome to get around city centres and difficult to find places to hold while they're being unloaded and to park over the weekend. The lorries are packed with large boxes, which hold the equipment, the boxes have wheels on them so they can be pushed to their final destination for setting up. The simplest version of this is that you park the trucks right next to where they're needed (stage, front of house desk, etc). Here I'm going to encourage you to think a little. You can't get a truck on to the SJP pitch, or anywhere near. How do you think those boxes got to where they need to be? Just take the equipment that was needed for the strawberry corner stage position. Where would you park the trucks to unload them and how far would you need to push the boxes? Where is there an access way big enough to load in really large items?

I saw large trucks outside on friday night, are you saying somewhere like London is easier to negotiate for large vehicles?

I just think it's a daft argument TBF. Modern logistics can get around any infrastructure issues and your insinuation that St James Park is crap for putting on big events because you need to push a box is just daft.

Would I be wrong in assuming that if the new ground is built on Barrack Road with the SE corner of the new ground on the footprint of the current Leazes that it would end any issues those who wanted to stay at the current SJP had?  It’s pretty much exactly the same location.

It's not possible to remove all objections as people don't want to change for a variety of reasons.

True, and I can completely understand sentiment.  Football is built on it.  And of course if you like the view you’ve already got …

Definitely I do too but my personal view is somewhat different, I want to see the club become the best it can be and stick it back to those who've looked down on us for as long as I can remember. Should this happen and we take the right steps elsewhere it will be even more satisfying seeing us compete with such artificial constraints placed on us. That's my selfish angle.

The other angle I have is the ability for the next generation of supporters to be able to be watch in person and not be locked out is of paramount importance, so a new stadium with a larger capacity is a massive plus, from Sydney to shields everyone should get the chance to see the team play.

We’re in complete agreement tbh.

I'm calling bollocks on this like. SJP should be one of the easiest places to access, Straight off the A1, over the Redheugh, along SJ Boulevard and you're there. I doubt there's many, if any easier venues to access.

Certainly Sky/TNT have never had any issues getting there trucks and equipment in that I'm aware of.

One more thing I forgot to add

Those who want to stay with no changes, would they be happy with us getting both left behind by the sky 6 and potentially being over taken by clubs such as Villa who are willing to do what it takes to compete?

We can complain about the rules all we like ( I don't think anyone on here be-moans them as much as me) but they aren't going to be loosened imo so this is the big picture choice that's actual being made.
