Whitley mag
There’s definitely moves going on behind the scenes with the Council re a new stadium. The recent article re a new mayoral authority to push through developments looks more than a coincidence to me.
OverThere
Maybe we can build on Leazes, knock down St James with the exception of the East Stand. East Standers can still go sit in their favourite place.
NG32
Think the council should insist on a zoo and an aquarium from the Saudis,.
Sima
Should we just build the ground in Dundee instead, where our real support is?

JonBez comesock
The BBC rang me yesterday and asked about the Dundee tickets Basically Newcastle have an exclusive Match day experience partner and they provide tickets every home game for a couple of school/ youth packages to be sold. Just like they have with corporate packages to businesses The Partner is usually a sports tours company that has lists of schools / junior clubs they sell to. Its been in place for years - Well before the takeover ! Club allocate around 40-100 tickets per game for these match day experiences for kids / schools

Selling them to McPosh McCunt McAcademy up in Dundee does more than “sting”. It’s a full on kick in the spuds.
AJ9
I’ve head about these people actually now you mention it. I was speaking to a colleague who works in a school in Inverness and apparently there is a bunch of teachers in Scotland who set up like a travel company to buy tickets for games at EPL clubs. Didn’t realise the private schools were in on it, but I know some state schools have based a whole trip around it, Liverpool, Manchester etc

More for the modern football thread but those aspiring to top level football in 2025 can't really afford to give the first fuck about local fans any more; once the merch sales get a bit of out of area traction we'll be pretty much a complete irrelevance (except the ones who are chosen to appear in maudlin sepia toned videos for new players talking about how their mams and dads loved Newcastle as well, how vitally important that local connection is and how it's In Wa Blood) Edited September 11, 2025 by OpenC
JonBez comesock
It will be a sports tour company partnered up with Newcastle Sometimes the partner has to pay upfront to secure the contract. Every premier league club has a 1 or 2 partner companies they sell tickets to (every game) Usually 40-100 tickets no matter the opposition The sports tours company will then contact schools and junior clubs offering the packages. Most sports tours companies will have a waiting list of schools or junior clubs that have expressed an interest in certain games. Yes I agree it doesn’t look or feel good when regular supporters can’t get to games , however it’s all part of the clubs business plan. Its been happening for over 7/8 years to my knowledge and every club has matchday experience partners they sell tickets to.
JonBez comesock
Ive seen lots of local junior clubs in the last 7 years also do the match day experiences - they get a shout out at half time and are listed / mentioned in the match day programme
GeordieT
Quote As for the stadium, Confidential reported in March that a video depicting a new home on Leazes Park had been shown to the owners and stakeholders, with a proposed capacity of 65,000. Sources indicated to us over the summer that there was no reason to challenge that information. However, it has been stressed that a final decision by PIF is still to be made - it was previously due to be revealed in ‘early 2025’ - and it would appear that no update is imminent. The stadium was discussed when chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan visited Tyneside last month. It is my feeling, after several conversations in recent months, that a move to a new stadium remains the preference, but it is not without challenges that have to be overcome before a decision is communicated. The club do not want to make an announcement and then be forced to row back on it. It also makes sense for Hopkinson to have involvement in such a landmark development. Discussions, meanwhile, have also taken place on how far they can push the new stadium's capacity closer to 70,000 without negatively impacting the required tension between supply and demand. In the meantime, staying at St James’ Park and expanding to a capacity of around 60,000 remains on the table, although PIF are said to have reservations on the ‘return on investment’ of this option. Bit of a non-update from Craig Hope. https://archive.ph/2025.09.11-160255/https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-15088533/Newcastle-stadium-delay-badge-Dundee-tickets-injury-news-Craig-Hope.html
