That SJP is a big stadium in the 3D world and not some tesseract where all views are good and close to the pitch somehow

I don't know if there's anything in it but, as I'd always hoped the takeover would lead to serious investment in projects around the city centre (and especially the stadium vicinity), I found Edwards's line about city centre investment intriguing.

It got me thinking...is there any scope for a new stadium immediately to the west of Barrack Road or a slight rerouting of Barrack Road itself? It doesn't look feasible with the Stanhope Street blocks of flats etc, but could there be a way...?

I honestly hope that the regeneration talk is in relation to Stanhope Street, and Barrack Road flats.

Apoolgies for anyone who lives there, but they are a blight on the road and if we are building a new stadium facing them, we need something a bit better on the other side of the road.

I’d also like to go as far as saying that if we are building in Leazes Park or Castle Leazes, then I’d prefer the new stadium to have a brick or stone facade over one with more modern materials. As much as I like Spurs’ stadium, having that in the middle of a Victorian park would look out of place.

When the Birmingham stadium was announced a couple of months ago, someone on here posted an image of a stadium with a brick facade and arched glazed windows which looks much better, and honestly I’d rather have that in Leazes Park/Castle Leazes than anything else.

Could demolish Leazers Terrace and then use the bricks to build the stadium facade in Leazers Park. Just have to do it brick by brick.

BBC News - Why you can't get a signal at festivals and sports matches

I had full bars all match in Dortmund in an 80k stadium, so it's possible

It's because the UKs mobile infrastructure is shite, because as usual it's built on the cheap.

I can hardly get a reliable signal in town never mind at a match.

I would suspect not using Huawei had something to do with it too. Never have a problem in Asia getting a signal.

Minor quibble and I’ve thought this for years…behind the goal, post goal chaos, always looks shite at SJP compared to other grounds because of the small blocks.

Haha I've always thought that as well! Would be much better if the lower tier wasn't split in 2 by the walkways that run the length of both the Leazes and Gallowgate but that's where the disabled bays are so not much can be done there.

Aye it’s not a complaint as such but when you see an end go up it’s not quite the same. I don’t think it’s even the concourse. Too many stairs between the front rows, if it were two blocks (ideally one)right at the front it’d be a bit more visually pleasing but as I say the most minor of quibbles.

All the ingredients there last night for a raucous. Still fuckers leaving before the winner, the mind boggles. If you always leave early you miss every single one of those moments.

Got to say it still looked pretty much full on TV. A few empty seats in the East Stand (not many) but generally the place still looked pretty full.

Never underestimate how shit these 8.15 kick offs are for some people. For a lot who live in parts of Northumberland and County Durham it causes massive issues if travelling on public transport and in some cases the only option is the leave a few mins before the end. Added to that the match massively over ran with around 15 minutes of extra injury time over the 2 halves which pushed the full time whistle back much further again.

Sounded like a great atmosphere all night. Brilliant, obvs, after the winner.

Clearly not one "tourist" in a ground full of Season ticket holders and legacy fans :)

That’s more like it both on and off the pitch!

I hope I didn’t cause any vision problems for anyone after my TV appearance [emoji38]

Why do they have a countdown on the screens in the concourse when there's other games on?  I noticed that last night.  That's not a good way to get people into the concourse etc to buy stuff.

Yup, Leeds and Manure, 8.15 kick off with 20 and 18 minutes added on, means it finishing around 22.25 and the last train is 22.40. Not impossible, but tight considering you can't miss it.

Also having a shit phone signal means it's tough to see if the train is delayed (as it was Vs Leeds, 90 minutes delay after loads missed the winner).
