Fuck them, St James is for us not away fans, if they don't like it don't go

Why do you even care if away fans complain about L7.

If they want to complain about it that’s their prerogative.

I couldn’t give two shites if they complain, as you rightly say it’s our ground not theirs.

Doesn’t mean I can’t agree with them that being in L7 means the match experience is rubbish.

To give some perspective on the debate. I don’t enjoy going to the derbies as much now we are stuck in the gods at the SOL. The FA Cup was great being back in the lower tier similar to how it was previously.

I couldn't give two fucks about the away fans match day experience, I thought I made that perfectly clear.

I wouldn’t say that I quite like it, all I’m saying it’s nowhere near as bad as people make out.

In your opinion it isn’t as bad as people make out.

That’s just life.

If you don’t give two fucks about the away fans match day experience why are you repeatedly commenting about it

It’s not just about drinking in bars, pubs, resteraunts per se, I don’t often drink myself on match day. But it’s really nice walking through the city centre, soaking up the atmosphere and just strolling through. I’m talking as much about the atmosphere of the city as much as I am about the pre match build up.

I definitely prefer to sit in the lower tier, but I really don’t think it’s that bad up in level seven. As for the atmosphere, up there, yes it’s poor, but that a different, thing imo.

Is it only us and the mackems that get away with not having them pitch side (PL requirement)?

It would make the atmosphere a lot better IMO having them pitch side.

Aye, we’re the only two clubs allowed to break the rule about away end being near to the pitch

Home stadiums should be utilising whatever they can to maximise advantages to the home side imo. Whether that’s putting the away fans miles away, having a downhill slope on the pitch, making the away dressing room small and stink of piss or whatever. If we were put in the gods away from home I’d just think it’s fair game.

Away teams and their supporters being accommodated to is utter woke nonsense imo.

There is a parallel shite experience mind, right at the front where all you see is legs and get the audio of the darlings on the pitch. Imagine being front row corner flag, fuck that

Thats how I remember it yet mackems could close off the required sections so their argument shouldn’t stand but they decided to sell ST’s in the lower tier making it politically tricky.

It’s probably a hardship for them to stay in the stadium for 90+ minutes as well tbf. Usually they listen to the last 10 minutes on the radio on their way home.

Would have left early yesterday to catch the Arsenal game. At least their other team won

We have a big stadium, get over it.

At Palace the roof blocks your view, at Chelsea it’s all over the place, even down at pitch side at Arsenal isn’t really a great place to watch the game from. I’d rather watch from up high than any of those type of places.

Who said anything about accommodating away fans needs at our ground ?

They can complain all they want. It’s our ground not theirs. I don’t give a shit if they don’t like it. But I do agree with them that being in L7 is shite.

The fact we’re allowed to break the PL rules on away ends is something they could quite rightly question.

But that’s an issue that’s mainly decided by the PL and the bizzies. And they’re happy with L7 being the away end.

I’ve been front row corner flag plenty of times, Gallowgate & Leazes.

Rewatch the Osula celebrations against Man Utd and you’ll see the front row corner flag lads going absolutely apeshit hugging Big Willie. You’ll never get an experience like that if you’re higher up the stands.

Each to their own innit.

Used to sit front row Gallowgate between the goal and Corner, it was fucking mint.

That was my preferred spot for most of the 22/23 season. In Block A, always stood up. Was absolutely class.

That's fine if you're not bothered about making out what is happening at the opposite side, other end of the pitch

Exactly, I’m happy to sacrifice an element of the view because for me, being pitchside up close to the action is my preference.

Other people have different preferences.

Weird people complain about this, imo. When they come to Newcastle they get a  city centre stadium, with hundreds of bars/pubs/clubs resteraunts/ activities all within walking distance, and away fans are welcome in all of them.

Many away days for Newcastle fans are in to some rundown council estate or industrial estate with not much around and segregated pubs.

There are many home fans who are up as high as the away fans, and you’re not really that faraway from the pitch(West Ham is worse).

Overall away fans going to Newcastle get a better deal than, Newcastle fans travelling around the country.

Been to Villa recently where we had to get a taxi somewhere to be allowed in for a peeve as nowhere near the ground let us in. At Man U we had to drink in a fucking Travelodge bar.

Brighton is a shite away day. 20 minute train to get to the stadium from the centre and there’s fuck all there.

Poor souls having to stand high up.
