Been to Villa recently where we had to get a taxi somewhere to be allowed in for a peeve as nowhere near the ground let us in. At Man U we had to drink in a fucking Travelodge bar.

Brighton is a shite away day. 20 minute train to get to the stadium from the centre and there’s fuck all there.

Poor souls having to stand high up.

You could have just not had a drink, problem solved.

Exactly, I’m happy to sacrifice an element of the view because for me, being pitchside up close to the action is my preference.

Other people have different preferences.

Happens only now and again with everything stacked against you,but joy can be had in a seat with a good view and you're not surrounded by fucking statues. Getting a hug off a stranger is great

Is it only us and the mackems that get away with not having them pitch side (PL requirement)?

It would make the atmosphere a lot better IMO having them pitch side.

Mackems shouldn't be allowed to get away with it as their ground was designed to have away fans in the South Stand and that's where they stayed for best part of 20 years until they wanted to copy how we do it. They should have been told to fuck off.

Used to sit front row Gallowgate between the goal and Corner, it was fucking mint.

Was 5 rows from the front in the Gallowgate for the Man City match right behind the goal in November. Couldn't get away with watching the match through the net and also the goal posts obstructing my view so I went and stood with my mates in the corner for the 2nd half.

Agree. Brighton is by far the worst away game for having a drink in my experience.

the uni thing near the ground is sound enough but rammed to fuck. We just stay a couple of nights in London when we’ve been to Brighton in the past.

Was trying to work out yesterday where on earth these extra screens will be put up inside SJP

Good point this. Maybe one on the Gallowgate similar to what the Mackems do? One on the glass panel similar to the one in the Leazes. No idea about the 4th.

Personally don't think we need any. It’ll just be used to ram adverts down everyone’s throats.

I dont get the  L7 complains.  I've watched many games from up there and the view is excellent.  Being behind a goal and yet being able to see the details of what is going on at the other end is nice.  You lose the ability to see some skills nut megs or what ever and sometimes I'm not sure what player I'm seeing!  But I'd accept that to get the picture of the entire game.  I would take those seats every day of the year vs sitting at pitch level, taking to an extreme first row seats.  That view, to me, is complete shit.  The angle does not allow you to follow the entire game.  Fine if someone happens to do a worlidie nut meg in front of you it's awesome.  But in terms of actual following the game, shape, passing, runs, totally not for me.  Maybe it's because I grew up loving sensible soccer :)

I love level 7 as well. The standing section up there I’ll always go for if available over most lower down areas.

Took this at the Barca game.

That reads less like a leak and more like some guy engagement baiting with an AI-written piece of "thought leadership"

EDIT: Is the whole account not just a troll? We didn't win the FA Cup and I'm sure the numbers are mostly wrong too [emoji38]

It says PIF bought us in 2021 but then go on to say they have transforemed us on and of the pitch since 18/19. aye. the fuck they have. Tbey transformed Steve fucking Bruce into a stupid useless cabbagehead back then.

There’s rules in place that say away fans have to be near the pitch. But us and the makems break the rules.

Can see why some away fans whinge about being up there. It must be the furthest removed away end in the country.

And plenty of them probably can’t be arsed to listen to us whinging about the out of town locations of their grounds.

Not everyone cares about being close to boozers, they just want to park their car easily, watch some football and go home straight after.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It was much better at the mackems before they moved us up a height. You want to be with the players celebrating (not that there’d have been much opportunity since the move anyway…).

L7 is a good novelty for the view, but generally you want to be close I’d say.

If you want to get a visual overview of what’s happening on the entire pitch but don’t mind being completely removed from the players on the pitch then L7 is perfect.

And vice versa for being pitchside.

I’d rather be stood 5 yards from the players kicking the ball about and am happy to forgo the birds eye view of the formations and tactics.

Up close and personal is my preference. Otherwise I might as well just be watching on the telly.

But each to their own.

Do agree Mackems away was decent in the old away end. A lot more bite to the game. It’s fucking shite now we are up the top.

Level 7 was mint after the first relegation. Top bantz with Barnsley fans as we're smashing them 6-0. Good times.

First home game back from the championship smashing villa in level 7 was quite a thing...on my birthday no less.

After having the sky cameras in my face in Players (dear me) watching them relegate us it felt fantastic.

I can remember John Carew blazing his pen over the bar as if it were a recent game. Happy days.

Yeah, it’s been good there the few times I’ve been. I’ve certainly come to the conclusion that standing over sitting has the biggest impact on my enjoyment of going to the game. Always a better atmosphere.

Heard some murmurings around the meeting up matfen but instantly disregarded it, even though it came from someone possibly or possibly not working there.

Something about a model of a new stadium very much in the ilk of spurs stadium.

Not claiming itk or owt before anyone pisses their knickers  just some tidbits on a BHL monday.

Wouldn't surprise me at all tbf

We know the previous board wanted to build a new stadium and were presenting options to the ownership, quite possible Hopkinson and his team think the same.

The question is whether PIF want to do it or not...
