Yep, you're right - forgot it was 1-4.  I was at the game but most of it is blacked-out.  Mind, the 2-2 at the San Siro isn't, despite being drunk in Duomo square for two days running.  'Peter Andre' still sticks in my mind - I wonder if that bloke ever made more money than that day from us ...

Sounds like a guess to me. If there is ever a concrete move to build on Leazes Park I reckon it will leak almost immediately, there's too many people that'd need to be involved.

He definitely has good sources in and around the club (source: I work with him) but how reliable they can ever be is another matter.

I’m not so sure. NDA’s would be in place, and the only people talking about would be those who need to know, and would know the importance of NDA’s.

Irregardless, he’s not the only one saying it looks like it’s going to be on Leazes Park, nor the only journalist either.

I'm on about the Barcelona match in the CL when they beat us 2-0 and Kluivert was unplayable that night. Scored their first goal and we couldn't get near him all night. He got a standing ovation when he got subbed.

 

Aye we beat Juventus 1-0 and got battered 4-1 v Inter. Bellamy got sent off after about 5 mins for kicking out at one of their players. Shearer didn't get sent off.

Queue was so big Bellamy got sent off seconds after getting to my seat! If memory serves Shearer got a retrospective ban for I think an elbow… meaning Shola and Lua Lua were the front two for the next couple of games

Yeah I remember that Barca match.  Kluivert and Del Piero said complementary things about the support after playing at SJP, and after that were linked constantly - with Kluivert coming in not long after (still feels odd that he played for us when he was in his ‘prime’ - by age not form)
 

Honestly that Inter home game was a complete blur.  Game was over quickly, and it might be the only home game I’ve been to where I pissed off to the concourse and continued drinking.

That’s what I was misremembering - Shearer was banned vs Leverkusen and it popped into my head that he’d been sent off.  Normally I’m ok with recollecting matches, but that Inter game at home is pretty much a blur.

Shearer was banned vs Barca (away) and Leverkusen (away) while Bellamy had additional game ban (Leverkusen, home).  Scored only his 3rd hat trick for us in the home game.

I think Kluivert was already being linked with us that night. He was class, but think the link was also why he got clapped.

 

Gerard also got clapped when they battered us 6-0 in 2013. Distinctly remember cos my dad was absolutely raging. I think that was also a dig at our players who’d been horrendous.
