James
Other Chief Executives hire and fire the managers. Means that Shepherd may not be as involved any more, especially if the Halls have decided to reduce his involvement.
James
Does this guy have any business experience? Unlikely given his background. Either he is here to take over the footballing decisions, to be a footballing figurehead for certain business deals, or he is someone for Shepherd/Halls to use as a scapegoat. stozo
From ITV: Newcastle United plc have named Steve Walton, a relationship director with Barclays Large Corporate Banking, as their new chief executive. A statement said the appointment has been "designed to strengthen the existing management team in view of a number of proposed future developments in and around St James' Park". Walton has been with Barclays for many years in a variety of roles including sales and marketing, corporate finance and retail banking. For the past 12 years he has been responsible for Barclays' football operations, particularly with Premiership clubs. His relationship with Newcastle goes back more than 10 years and he has been heavily involved in all aspects of the club's financing over that period. Guest Invicta_Toon
So, we've appointed our former bank manager who also used to deal with 'football matters' for Barclays how fucking bent are we or what? And even if he is legit, is the irony not lost on people that Barclays are one of the biggest rip-off merchants of their own customers? Aye, I see a bright and rosy future ahead .....
