OK then, N'Zogbia's played there. But was gash and a genuine left-back is a better option. Probably even Carr, whose done alright lately.

Agree with the sentiment about Dyer, but starting Carroll is nothing but a risk, and this isn't the game to start him in. This is an absolutely key game and we need our best players playing.

Duff has improved - he played well against Sheffield United and Arsenal. Pointless dropping him - especially for Luque. Luque who has been absolutely shite in every single game he has played for us - he's a joke and it's a waste of a position to 'give him his chance'. He's gonna leave anyway.

Luque has not been 'absolutely shit in every single game', but i can't get into that again, and who says he's going to leave? After Shepherd blocked his move to PSV it was widely accepted we'd be paying him £40k a week until his contract expires. Let's hope our new manager, if indeed we have one in the Summer, deals with him better than Roeder has.

Duff probably has improved, but not enough considering the match time he has had. He barely looks match fit yet...

The PSV chairman came out and said otherwise, didn't he? Anyway, if you're correct, it means Luque leaving is even more unlikley.

PSV tops soccer transfer market

Thursday 01 February 2007

League leader PSV was the most active of the Dutch football clubs in the latest transfer period, which ended at midnight last night. In total, the Dutch premier division clubs added almost 50 new players to their selection pools.

Eindhoven’s PSV led the way, making four new signings and letting six players go. But the club’s efforts to buy Spanish striker Albert Luque from Britain’s Newcastle failed at the last minute. ‘It is a real shame, we had a deal with Newcastle but the chairman was against it,’

PSV’s Stan Valckx told the De Telegraaf.

Third-placed AZ added four players - including FC Nante’s Moroccan international Nourdin Boukhari. The Alkmaar club said goodbye to five, among them Martijn Meerdink who has been on the bench recently and is now heading for FC Groningen in a last-minuted deal.

Amsterdam’s Ajax - currently second in the league - made the most noteworthy transfers. As well as the widely reported return of Edgar Davids from Tottenham Hotspur in the UK, Brazil’s Leonardo (currently with NAC Breda) will also rejoin Ajax.

I don't think Roeder will change it any, I would play Edgar at LB but no way Roeder will. Carr had an alright game on Monday anyway IMO, so I am sure Glenn will stick with him.

My lineup if Moore,Dyer,Parker,Sib and Emre are out, would be...

---------------Harper

Nobby---Taylor----Gooch----Edgar

Milner----Butt------Zoggy-----Duff

-----------Carroll

---------------------Martins

BENCH

Krul

Bramble

Carr

Didnt Luque turn down one move due to a wage cut and the loan to PSV was blocked late on deadline night when we missed out on getting that St Etienne striker on loan!?

Martins needs sib playing from the start at least, And id keep Onyewu as far away from the centre of defence as possible - Hes proved he is clueless, if he really has to be on the pitch stick him at LB - Cant be worse than Carr

A shock Lawrenson prediction.......... 2-0 to them! Shocker

Portsmouth v Newcastle

Portsmouth had a strange Easter. They had that fantastic result against Manchester United and then basically collapsed at Watford.

But I think Pompey keeper David James will break the record for Premiership clean sheets in this game.

It's not a good place for Newcastle to go although their form has improved and a win and draw saw them have a good Easter.

Prediction: 2-0

Harper, Carr, Moore, Taylor, Solano, Butt, Milner, Emre, Duff, Zog, Martins.

Dunno bench yet.  About time Emre made a start.

Nice to see Zog getting a start too.
