Geremi gets work permit, Officially signs - .cock

Allardyce’s initial target was Edmilson, the versatile Brazil player, and having received encouragement from the World Cup winner, a Newcastle delegation will resume talks with Barcelona today. Complications include the knee injury that will enforce the 30-year-old’s absence for up to six months, his £80,000-a-week wage and Barcelona’s demand for a fee of €5 million (£3.3 million).

Madness. Move on, Sam.

SSN Breaking News - Newcastle to sign Geremi on 3 year deal for £2m

Thought he was on a free??

Perhaps the 2m is a goodwill gesture at getting first shout at another player. Still need a left back.

Don't think anyone knows exactly when Geremi's contract expires though.

(Wed, 16th Jul, 2003) BBC reports Geremi signs a 5 year deal, that would take him to July 2008. If correct he still had a year on his contract.

Been away, surely we can't be paying a 2M transfer fee for someone whose contract is almost up? I'd suggest that the 2M was his salary package; but it is too low.

Take it back; just seen a suggestion that Barca want over 3M for Edmilson whose contract is also just about up & who is out for up to 6 months! And it seems Sam is keen. :frantic: :frantic: :frantic:

If we agree to that Barca should thrown in Godjohnsen for a nominal fee as Edmilson is madness.

So all this time he wasn't even on a free transfer. Dear god.

Just shows yet again how lazy journalists are in UK.

Just shows how lazy we all are, it took 17 pages of discussion for any of us to even bother finding out his contract length!

The only club in the world who'll pay money for a free transfer.

Isn't that so true ? :D

Yeah - I reckon we had to or he'd have had a few others in for him too.

Excellent signing. Looking forward to seeing where he's deployed though.

Allardyce in the papers today saying he wants another 4 defenders...

Got a link mate?

Sounds good. Now time for 4 big defensive signings.
