Yorkie
Deep456 is a good laugh tbf. --- Personally, i'd rather Allardyce stuck to what he knew. ----------------------------------- Given ---------------------------------- Geremi ------------ Taylor -------------- Rozehnal ------- Babayaro ----------------------------------- Butt ----------------------------------- -------------------- Barton ----------------- Emre ---------------------- -- Milner ----------------------------------------------------- Martins -- ---------------------------------- Viduka --------------------------------- Subs: Harper, Ramage, Solano, N'Zogbia, Dyer, Owen, Ameobi Only one controversial choice in there, but i just don't see Owen working as a wider forward - which is why i'm gradually beginning to think we should flog him for someone who 'specialises' there. IE - Anelka or Diouf (preferably Diouf). Although, i think Martins probably could do. I'm looking forward to seeing a 4-5-1 formation, because it's what Sam's been successful with, he shouldn't change his winning formula. We shouldn't have to continue with a 4-4-2 (something we've worn out bigtime) just to accommodate Owen. But we might do, so in that case: ----------------------------------- Given ----------------------------------- Geremi ------------- Taylor -------------- Rozehnal -------- Babayaro Milner ----------------Emre --------------- Barton ------------ N'Zogbia ---------------------- Viduka -------------- Owen ------------------------- Subs: Harper, Ramage, Solano, Butt, Dyer, Martins, Ameobi ... would be my preferred 4-4-2 line-up. It's fantastic to have so many options. It feels great to have absolutely no idea what's going to happen, in all honesty. I couldn't predict what Sam wants to do, with any confidence whatsoever. There are things that he's more likely to do, but what his virtual line-up is, none of us know.
Guest Mixon
......................................Given........................................... Geremi..............Taylor..................Rozehnal....................NZogbia Dyer.................Butt©........................Barton.....................Duff ......................Viduka.......................Owen............................. Zog at left back? Duff is also injured. So is Taylor. Anyway, here's my line-up: ------------------Given-------------------- Geremi--Rozehnal--Taylor--Babayaro Dyer------Barton-----Emre-------Milner -------------Martins--Owen------------- Subs: Harper, Huntington, Butt, Solano, Viduka. Damn, why can't England just take after Spain, for example, and have seven substitutes instead of just five. It's so hard to choose between Viduka and Ramage. I WANT BOTH! Dr. Nguyen Van Falk
Adding 7 substitues could be a simple way of spicing the game up, giving a manager more options on the bench. Should bring it in imo...

Yorkie
Think he's joking. I lolled anyway. On another note, does anybody have any info on loanages? I think all we've heard we regarding this is that Huntington might go to Hartlepool, and Krul might be off to Holland (both good moves)... I suppose Allardyce will probably just wait and see what his squad looks like come August, before he has his players hitching rides to the lower leagues. Wullie
If the season started tomorrow, it'd be: Given, Geremi, Rozehnal, Taylor, Babayaro, Milner, Emre, Barton, N'Zogbia, Owen, Viduka with a bench of Harper, Edgar, Solano, Dyer, Martins. Or maybe Butt somewhere on the bench. Thankfully it doesn't start tomorrow anyway, plenty time to get some more players in yet.

Mr Logic
Based on CFC-net reports on Geremi I'd want him at RM and not RB. Very difficult making a first eleven on current players as we're still missing a couple of pieces of the jigsaw but with that in mind. Home: ----------------------------------- Given ---------------------------------- Carr ------------ Taylor -------------- Rozehnal ------- Babayaro ------------------- Barton ----------------- Emre ---------------------- -- Geremi ----------------------------------------------------- Luque -- ------------------------- Owen ------- Viduka -------------------------- Away: ----------------------------------- Given ---------------------------------- Carr ------------ Taylor -------------- Rozehnal ------- Babayaro ----------------------------------- Butt ----------------------------------- ------------------- Geremi ----------------- Emre ---------------------- ------------------------------- Barton ----------------------------------- ------------------------ Owen ----- Viduka ----------------------------
Tsunami
From the fit players we'll have at the start of the season & for home games: ------------------------------Given----------------------------- -----Solano--------Taylor---------Roze-----Geremi-------- -----------------------------Butt-------------------------------- ---------------Dyer------------------------Emre--------------- ----------------------------Barton------------------------------ ---------------Viduka----------------------Owen-------------- Subs: Harper, Milner, N'Zobia/ Ameobi, Martins, Huntington I wouldn't let Carr or Baba anywhere near the first team at the moment (they have a hell of a lot to show in Austria) & I'd have both Solano & Geremi both making forward runs down the flanks which would create channels for both Dyer & Emre to exploit. Butt, Taylor & Roze would have to be exceptionally strong defending breaks & I'd expect both Emre & Barton to have to run their socks off (I'd also like to see Dyer being able to track back & tackle - but that aint going to happen so Barton would need to track back to the gap left by Dyer)

There are things that he's more likely to do, but what his virtual line-up is, none of us know. I share those doubts about Owen. That 4-3-2-1 formation is becoming increasingly popular and he doesn't really fit in. The game as a whole is moving away from his kind of specialist poacher role and he needs to adapt. In the World Cup, he seemed pretty determined to stick to what he thought he did best, and there were rumours that Eriksson was trying to get him to get more involved in the build up. We may well get at least another DM and LB before the window closes. I'd have Given as captain though over Butt. I'd also probably have Owen over Dyer in your first team.
