ohmelads Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 Spanish press claiming that it's tomorrow that our representatives are due to fly out. Sevilla's president Del Nido met with Juande Ramos and Drago at the team's hotel in Marbella yesterday to discuss, among other things, Drago's future. Apparently no deal has been done as yet but they are expecting representatives from Newcastle at the hotel to discuss a signing tomorrow. Whether they'll be good enough we don't know, but it'll be decent depth and cause to be optimistic. LB : Enrique/Dragutinovic, Babayaro CB: Taylor, Rozenhal, Capaca, Dragutinovic, Huntington/Edgar/Ramage RB: Carr, Geremi/Solano Definitely something to be said for going after a new RB, if there's more money. Get someone very good in and have Carr back him up. That leaves Geremi and Solano to play in midfield more, which will be to our benefit. We'd also be looking at having a pretty deep squad. This is because they fear they will lose out to Everton for Wigan Athletic’s England Under-21 international Leighton Baines. The Chronicle reported yesterday that United had bid £5m for Baines and we can reveal today that this is £3m down and another £2m at the end of the season. But the word coming out of Lancashire is that Baines, whose wife is expecting their second child over the weekend, wants to stay in the North West and favours a move to Everton. Story continues Continue story ADVERTISEMENT So United currently do not have a fit left-back on their books, with the Premiership opener at Sam Allardyce’s former club Bolton Wanderers a mere seven days away. That’s why they have gone to Spain and beaten both Manchester City and Roma for the man known as Drago. As a Belgian passport-holder, Dragutinovic will have no problems in being registered in time for the game at the Reebok Stadium. He began his career in his own country with Borac Cacak before heading to Belgium and a spell in their Jupiler League with Gent and then Standard Liege in 2000 where he was a big success. Drago switched to Sevilla two years ago and he is under contract until next summer, meaning United will have to pay a £2.5m fee. Its daft but everything is starting to annoy me about him now, not just his repetition of the same phrases but his use of simple English as well.
