I agree, they need a bit of a marquee signing in a striker position. Buying a striker is pretty much the hardest position to fill and usually very difficult to do cheaply. If they got it right then they could get a top five spot
-
That's sort of what I'm getting at though? All 3 of those are punts. If they smashed it, they'd double their money in a year or two. They've been caught up by the likes of Bournemouth & Brentford who have similar ways of going about things. Palace do it slightly differently mixing up young English potential and signing the odd generational talent like Eze, but they're probably on a similar level. West Ham will likely come back to at least a mid-table side again next year, Everton's new stadium and revenue might give them a boost to climb out of that 14-17th rung. It's not unique what they do anymore. Seen it so often with the likes of Swansea & Southampton where they look mid-table or slightly better, get it wrong one year and it's all undone. They're at a stage now where £50m or so on Watkins will improve them. Just feel they're in danger of those clubs I've mentioned overtaking them or at least matching them and they drop 5-6 places in the table pretty rapidly over the course of a season or two.

You are intense I agree with team Rogers. Never seen Nunes be that great

Did we reverse the ban on posting nufcblog content or something?

I know exactly why I responded to TCD the way I did, and that's between me and him. Quite frankly, it's really none of your business, and so I'd appreciate it if you mind your own business and stop sticking your nose in.

https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/portsmouth-fc-news-transfers-newcastle-united-5117819 How on earth is this fella still employed by Newcastle United Football Club?
-
Talk of him changing his shirt to “Trent” as part of the marketing move.
-
Do you speak to people like this in person? You must be unbearable.
-
Think his injury background has meant he just loves playing football these days even at a low level or just for fun. Fair play.
-
Pretty sure he played two full seasons at Sporting. He was at Wolves for only one season and showed flashes when he was there, despite people pretending he was rubbish there. The Man City move was a bad one for him. We've seen Pep so this sort of thing before. Claiming Rogers is ten times the player he is, is laughable, and was what I responded to in the first place. Never mind the fact my original comment had nothing to do with who was better, as I said they were a similar profile, making the reply and comment even more ridiculous.

Rutter was nearing £40m. They’ve shifted from £10m signings to £25m where the chances of turning profit on those players when signing at 24/25 is heavily reduced unless they are proper standout. Like O’Riley, Kadiogou, Wiffer are nearly £80m and not players you expect them to make profits on.
-
Why are you commenting when from the outset you're wrong about what the discussion is? And spare me the lecture please. You lot always pick and choose when to pull the moral high ground when it suits you.
-
There is a very valid argument that at this moment in time, regardless of what has gone before, Rogers is the better player. It's also possible to have a debate without being a condescending tit, you should give it a try sometime
-
All of their signings were between 19-24. Even when they pushed the boat out on fees it was still with an eye on profitability. They need a summer where they gamble unless they're satisfied with 8-10th being their best, maybe a place or two higher if a couple of the bigger clubs have a poor season like Spurs & Man Utd this year. Watkins would be perfect for them.
-
He effectively had one season as a first team regular at Sporting then moved to Wolves. His spell at Wolves then when he’s been rolled out at Man City is more than Sporting and easily enough for someone to judge him. If anything it’s more one good season in Portugal that we’ve seen LOADS of times from players moving from there.
-
Rogers is so much better than Nunes that at the same time they were signing Nunes for £50 million they were selling Rogers to Boro for £1 million. Maybe, just maybe Rogers is playing for a damned good manager in a pretty good team better suited to his play style. Switch Rogers and Nunes situations around and let's see how they both look then.
-
Attacks the ball as well as he attacked Steven Taylor’s face
-
Brighton spent big last season to move away from feeder club and singing more £30m players. Don’t think they will ever sign £60m because that’s still money that only the truly big clubs can afford to spend.
-
If you didn't see Nunes at Sporting Lisbon then I'm not interested in your opinion on the player. Also, as much as people like to pretend otherwise, he also showed flashes in what was a poor Wolves team in the one season he was there. There is plenty of evidence and scouting reports out there that will back up what I'm saying. There is a reason Man City spent £50 million on him, even though they really shouldn't have, because he is not a Pep player at all. But Pep is full of it and always thinks he can just mould these guys into whatever he wants.
-
Great episode that.
-
If Brighton want to be a serious club and not just a feeder club, they should be all over Watkins. They have plenty PSR leeway that they can afford to go and get 1-2 "in their prime" players this summer if they wanted to make a fist of it. He's what they've lacked pretty much ever since they got promoted with us.
-
Nunes was an average player at Wolves Was a strange signing for CM at the time because he wasn’t elite in any way shape or form.
-
Pep will grind that creativity out of him, one rondo after another.
-
I agree with TCD, never seen Nunes play well and have seen him 20+ times. Not sure if his confidence is just shattered or if there is a good player in there somewhere but he’s absolutely nowhere near Rogers on any level. Rogers is better at carrying, extremely good at dribbling, physically a complete beast, has fantastic vision, has end product, he’s a complete player
