I agree with you The fat aussie is hear to pick up his wages and will spend well over half the season injured. This is not about Viduka, Smith or Duff and what wages they are on. It's about the club receiving a bid for a wantaway player at four times his worth. I disagree, this is the club panicking and getting rid of assets people will actually buy, nobody would touch Viduka, Smith or Duff on the wages they are on with the track record they have hence why they are still here. N'zogbia wanted out and even said so but he is still here!!! Milner was a sucess at Aston Villa and with the lack of right wingers about he is a very sellable asset and with the window approaching his value has risen. Not at all disputing that 12 Mil is good value for money but it is the fact we need the money and won't be spending any that is dis-heartening I think everyone on here is saying that we need to replace him. Nobody (apart from James I guess) is doubting that.

Fair play to Leicester tbh. I wish more lower league clubs held onto their players. What would Leicester do with £5m anyway? You could get a fair few very good players for league one with that money, not to mention the fact his price can only drop as no one is going to pay more than 5m for a player playing in league one. Or on the other hand, Leicester are actually aiming for promotion. What's to say he won't be playing in the Championship next season? They don't really need the money anymore - they need the players to get them promoted. And with 5m you couldn't help to achieve that? It's not actually that easy to spend £5m in league one and come away with players who would improve the team. I know that sounds like a strange thing to say, but I've seen it first hand with a number of teams. Were you spending it like? I'd have kept Sharp and Keogh tbf

Agree with that apart from the score. 1-0.

When Ronaldo wanted to leave Man United, most of their fans were like "fuck it, we'll just replace him". How come we're so desperate to hold on to a pretty average player who actually isn't a first teamer? Because Man United can go after any player in the world as a replacement, and a. afford him and b. have a good chance of getting him? For £12m we could get a player easily as good as Milner. Ronaldo is the best player in the world. Neither AC Milan or Barca will sell the 2nd and 3rd best players in the world to Man United.

Oh my god - "B I D S" . . . (or even more accurately - "reported bids"). How many times does THAT need to be pointed out? Fine then, lets look at facts. Coloccini for a reported 9m going up to 10.3m - also reported to have signed the 'contract of his life'. True, the Modric bid (I'll forget the Aimer & Inler ones because as Dave said, could be wrong) was made before any players were sold. In the end the deal didn't come off but it shows that the money is there for players of the right calibre. Gutierrez had an original asking price of 10m but we got around the via a loophole, but I imagine we still had to pay a few to get him in. There's a difference between 'selling to buy' and simply getting rid of players that are no good for us. How do you know (or 'imagine') that a Coloccini purchase would have been funded, if we had got (say) Modric? Also, I don't think Keegan would agree with any of you "Milner haters" on here ("no good for us" !!!!) I don't agree with you either. I also asked if you thought it would just be a 'mere coincidence' if Ashley actually spends some money RIGHT NOW? Well? The bid for Colo was made before the bid for Modric. IF you are correct - you know that we would have followed through with BOTH, how exactly? (Not saying we definitely wouldn't, mind. Both are good players) I'm just asking how you know this. Actually, I'm assuming that the Modric bid was made when it was reported. It's true that we could have made that bid a lot earlier too. However, I do know that we were negotiating the Colo fee with Depo over 3 months ago now, during the time we were hoping to sign Modric. A lot depends on what you want to believe about the Modric deal I guess. There's still something which doesn't add up for me.

Struggled the last time he played in the Premiership. Hope he flops.

You've got the sarcasm/irony thing spot on mate. Good post

Unless he's already got his players lined up. Point is, you don't know. You're as bad as the media tbh.

I actually quoted it, to give you a clue as to which post I was quoting. He's asked for a new contract, and because he hasn't got it, he's handed in a transfer request with a week to replace him. Of course, that's professional of him. You see NO wrong doing here from him? I have commented before on how he couldn't have expected an increase after signing a contract 12 months ago. Oh and I love James Milner, will be better than Ronaldo if he was at a club like Manchester united    Gave you a chance to post seriously, you start acting the twat. Feel free to continue though, I've learnt now that you're not even worth debated with. Got a few laughs along the way though didn't you. Bet you're there chuckling away to yourself. Bravo. I had a couple yes. I did respond, I take it you haven't seen/ignored my posts that didn't put Milner in a good light. I didn't see the original post no. Does it exist? I can't remember the "Milner shouldn't get a new contract" thread tbh.

Lampard is fucking shit. Your move No offence mate, but you're obsessed with getting involved in other people's arguments. Are you just lacking in intelligence to be able to start your own? What's Lampard got to do with this thread, other than Jon trying to use it to give himself a cheap laugh? Lampard > Milner. Your move?

£12m for Milner would be the best bit of business this club has ever done IMO.
-
Which one of our signings hadn't you heard of? Probably 1 of the 4, who is yet to play in the Premiership right? jonas? Don't people on here watch Spanish football? Serious question like...

That's a great comeback. Nothing to add on the actual subject then? Sorry I forgot about the quality in depth post I was replying to. You of all people should be the last people commenting on a "xxxxx loves this player" thing given your IP address can be traced back to Frank Lampards arse. Another great post. You're an adult aren't you? Sorry what did your post have to do with the subject of this thread? If you want to come on and be a dick don't cry if I reply to your comments. Well it was in relation to your post about Milner being perfectly innocent. I've never seen a post from you about Milner which doesn't portray him in a postive light, and I think there's something in that. He slaps in a transfer request a week before the deadline, and you don't think the fans have a right to be angry about that? As I said, you're becoming a parody of yourself. You love the fact that people take the piss about you loving Milner, so you play up to it. On the other hand, if you seriously think that Milner has done no wrong here, you're simply deluded. Stop acting like a spoilt brat who has had his toy taken away.

People were prepared to give Butt a chance because it was clear he was staying here, Milner on the other hand would be off and the fans would know that he didn't want to be here. I think you are selling the fans a little short but we wont know unless he stays. He hasn't (imo) done anything dirty to push for a transfer like a few this summer and hopefully the majority are intelligent enough to appreciate that and how professional and hardworking he has been for us in the past. Maybe I am being naive though. Becoming a parody of yourself I'm afraid Jon. ? It's almost as if you're playing along with the whole "Jon loves Milner" thing. Look, he doesn't want to be here. It's not the first time he's actually wanted to leave. £10m is a stupid amount of money for a pretty average player, regardless of who we get in to replace him.
