  1. Fergie didn't sign Ronaldo. Some Man United players suggested that he should be watched, so Man United sent a team out to watch him. They recommended to Ferguson that they should sign him, so Fergie (without watching him) told them to do it. That's exactly the way a club should be run. If we believe everything we've heard then both parties are to blame here. Keegan for not accepting that this is the way things should be done, and the club for not listening to Keegan when he refused certain players. The biggest mistake was bringing Keegan in in the first place, seeing that the club wanted to go in this direction. Everyone could see it would never work.
  2. HTT has quit supporting the club 3 times now, at least. Now he wants to buy it?
  3. It's usually quite exciting speculating about new manager. However, not when Keegan's just left out of the blue, and not when they can't buy anyone for months. It's all a bit shit, but we'll live.
  4. Poyet will. Get in eh? I'm off to buy a box at the ground. Wow indeed. I don't want him either. I'm just pointing out that plenty of people will want the job.
  5. It was ALWAYS going to end this way (well, not this way) but it was a disaster waiting to happen bringing Keegan back.
  6. Yep, I hate the fact that a club has spent as much as Man United to try and catch them.
  7. Spot on. Only one person actually has anything to gain from this. The same person who is either going to get a huge payoff, or get his way with how the club should be structured.
  8. It's not about the player though; it's about the Chairman making deals without the say so of the manager. Still, I think Freddie would make a better manager than Roeder anyway.
  9. So the players are all professional, but they'll get us relegated without Keegan? What a load of shite.
  10. He said something on Revista but I'm sure he didn't describe the player just revealed the details, he was bumming Jonas though saying he's great and said our scouts have done very well to secure Jonas,Colo and Xisco. I'll tell you what, I know a lot of people believe that if keegan goes , no one will want anything to do with us, but I disagree. I think a lot of managers would be very impressed with some of the players we have been able to bring in, particularly in Spain. Colo and Jonas in particular would have turned some heads. 2 youngish Argentine internationals with a good amount of time ahead of them. Probably why the rumours of a manager from Spain coming in are flying about today then.
  11. Yeah petelockey i can see what you're saying there, Ashley did say that about Wise. But the thing is, if you remember the KK Milner interview before the Arsenal game (it can be found on the BBC website, the 9 minute long one), towards the end of the interview the journalists asked KK about Kamil Zayatte and whether he was training at the club. KK confirmed he had trained with us, and that he liked the look of him because he played more than one position. KK then said something along the lines of: "look i'm not saying anymore because it would be wrong to let Dennis and Jeff know what i think of the player through you lot, without speaking to them myself first" When he spoke the emphasis was on Wise. It seems he does have a big role to play in bringing in players. It was the same with KK's interview about Jonas, which is why everyone gave me so much stick. KK said Dennis called and told him "i got this player called spiderman in, he's great you'll have to check him out" an KK then said he checked him out and he seemed a good prospect. Points to the fact that Keegan has final say though, although that'll be ignored. The Zayatte quote does yeah. The spiderman one doesn't. So basically we'll never know.

  13. he didn't or he would have appointed wise as manager. they have different jobs and responsibilities. My point is that Dennis Wise would have no real clue which players we needed, much as Keegan.Wise had been operating away from top class football,ie Premier League, for as long as Keegan.Keegans advantage is that he has worked at that managerial level, old school, buy and sell the players he wants, for 10 or so years. The highest level Wise has been in a mangerial/administrative role was at Millwall. You do realise a lot of clubs have teams working on finding players and negotiating transfers with them don't you? Two good examples are Man United and Arsenal. You do realise that Man United's "transfer team" signed Ronaldo, right?
  14. Lets wait until the whole episode is over first and we can say for definite that they were wrong we can say now for definite that they were wrong. yesterday they ran the story as if it was a fact that Keegan had been sacked but covered their arses by saying "our sources say". they talked up replacements, they slagged off Ashley, Keegan etc. They whipped the fans into a frenzy. None of it was based on any factual evidence. It was based on gossip and hearsay. And now they all look like clowns. Whatever way you look at it they jumped the gun and are now desperately trying to save face. The club had a press conference lined up to announce it. Keegan and the club had parted company. This news came out long before the media picked up on it, from very good sources within Northern Rock. If you honestly think that there's nothing to this story, then please tell me why the club are still in talks with Keegan? Load of bollocks A load of bollocks which was reported a long time before the press picked up on anything, which led to ""It is not ideal having to speak to you on managers' positions so early in the season but I was speaking to Kevin Keegan at length on Tuesday night. "He has not resigned. He is in a difficult position - he'll be discussing really important issues with the Newcastle board over the next few days" from the league managers association? Yes mate, clearly nothing in it. Complete load of bollocks. Sorry like, but this news came from good sources from people linked to the club. If it had only come to light after SSN announced it, then I'd maybe agree with you. People have moaned all through this thread saying that it's bollocks about Keegan not being happy with the situation with Wise, yet this is showing that they were right all along. You're just picking and choosing the news you want to believe I'm afraid.
  15. Good post. Up until a few days ago everyone on here seemed happy with the way it was going, of course we would have preferred to have spent more money and got cover for our fullbacks but one thing that wasn't in doubt was the quality of the players that had come into the club, so much so that people expect Xisco to be class just because of how good the others have been. Without this set up would we have known that Jonas was prepared to buy out his contract? Or would we have managed to not only find a bright young lad like Bassong but manage to get him here on a trial so the manager can get a good look at him? Someone has been on the ball behind the scenes to make these things happen and it would be a shame to lose that. The only good thing about getting rid of Wise would be an end to the constant media circus claiming everyone is stabbing each other in the back. there were plenty of people not happy with the way we were heading. a couple of posters, afar, unbelievable and me got a lot of criticism for highlighting concerns earlier in the window. i don't think Wise has anything to do with getting in Jonas or Bassong, that was probably more to do with the likes of Vetere & Fucillo (scouting) and Jiminez & Llambias (negotiations). There's no reason why the former two can't be retained as scouts as keegan has worked with scouts all his career. I'm not sure Keegan's ire is necessarily directed at the former two, more likely the latter two. while they got in a few players they also missed out on plenty more leaving us with a good number fewer than what we needed. i bet when they missed out on Modric, despite having the owner of his club and his agent in the city, that Keegan was pissed off but was given assurances that things would change. they didn't so Keegan got upset. though there could be more to it than that, or it could be different. The comment about the way it was going was in regards to the recruitment team and the standard of players we've pulled in, although feel free to give yourself another self congratulatory pat on the back for showing concern about not getting enough players in. that's not like you Baggio. disappointing that you resort to crap like this because you can't construct an adequate response. Because you misunderstood the point I was making? As I said, people were disappointed that we didn't strengthen further but nobody had a problem with the set up and the quality of player being brought in, it's only since Keegan threw his toys out of the pram that people seem outraged at the likes of Dennis Wise. Are you having a laugh? Nobody complained about the quality of players; they were just expecting more. We STILL don't know if the board or Keegan are to blame for the lack of numbers.

  18. Are we ever going to find out the truth, or a load of spin, as usual? Probably a load of spin, which means I won't "pick sides". It's for the good of the club that we support whoever stays tbh.
  19. You're joking?!?! :-0 About which part? Andy Carroll has proved nothing more to me than the fact that he's a human battering ram. Even when he went out on loan to the Championship, his record was pretty pathetic. Don't see why so many rate him tbh. Agreed. He was shite in the Championship, he'll be shite in the Premiership.
  20. I'm going to reserve judgement until the facts come out. Both Ashley and Keegan said there was money to spend, especially the £12m from Milner. For some reason, it wasn't spent. However, this whole sorry episode has highlighted my fear when Keegan was appointed. A large number of fans will support Keegan before they support NUFC, so even if he's to blame he'll get their support. That to me is very damaging, and is exactly what fans were fearing when Shearer was linked. Yes, it's great to have someone who is so closely linked with the club, but on the other hand it's a lot harder letting them go when it's needed.

    Dennis Wise

Bollocks! I hate the little cockney twat, and it shows a total lack of understanding of NUFC and football in general that Ashley appointed him in the first place. You complain about the media in one thread and believe everything that is said about Wise in another. Amazing. What are you going on about!? I didn't mention the media in that post. I don't need the tabloids to convince me that Wise is an odious little shite! Dennis Wise, Director of Football at NUFC. Does that sound right? Think about it! Go on then, tell me how you know what he does, or doesn't do.
  22. It hurts because it's true. Bollocks! Well let's start with the headline, how the fuck has Keegan been humiliated? If he's walked away, which many people feel is true, I assume he must feel that himself, no? No! If he's walked away he's done it for a very good reason. IMO Keegan would only have walked at this time if he felt he was not being backed 100% by the owner and the board. In my book that doesn't amount to humiliation, that would be the action of a proud man standing up for his principles. So in essence you agree with the rest of the story, if that's the case?
  23. Oh, and seems the "transfer team" are actually doing a good job
