  1. The game in which Ronaldo went in with an injury? Should we agree that he's at least in the top 3 players in the world then?
  2. To be honest the only impact I can remember him having on a major game (including matches against the top four/ champions league knockouts) was scoring a two yard tap in against Arsenal last year... He's scored quite a few against Arsenal. Fucking hell man, what's it like on here? People are trying to make out Ronaldo isn't a world class player?
  3. Actually yes, he did nothing to warrant being dropped earlier in the season and i'd have him in the side at the minute. NB - i'm not saying given has played particularly badly, he had a good first half yesterday, but anyone who thinks he couldn't have made a difference with the first two goals is kidding themselves. Certainly not the first time this season either. No keeper in the world would have saved that freekick tbh. He only saw it when the ball was 3 yards from him. Given is miles better than Harper. Sad that when the team go through a bad patch (like the last few seasons unfortunately) then people think getting rid of Given will solve it. Madness.
  4. Also interested in signing Ronaldo I've heard. Fred once said that the Newcastle job was one of the top 12 jobs in world football. We ended up with Souness.
  5. We should bring Cech in, but only after Mourinho takes over with John Terry as his captain. Do people want to see Steve Harper in goal instead?
  6. When was the last time he went missing in a big game by the way?
  7. The Rooney "no yellow card, no talking to" incident was funny. I think if Smith hadn't put Ferdinand off the pitch (again, no yellow card) then I think Rooney would have been booked. He got so frustrated that he was looking to kick someone, but Smith took the refs attention away. The Man United fans booed the ref off at half time by the way - he was shite for both sides. On the replays for the final goal, it looks over the line to me tbh.
  8. We really really need a top european manager, if only to get rid of him. Having said that, I don't even know what he does, so perhaps I'm just jumping on the bandwagon.
  9. Maybe a different question would be "would you care that Ronaldo is a cheat if he played for Newcastle?" I imagine a lot of you (the same lot who don't want Mourinho here ) would say yes.
  10. I'd love to be in a position where we might have a chance of challenging for trophies year in year out. I'd be happy to be 40-1 to win the premier league, like Liverpool are at the moment. I want us to consolidate a postition in the top 4, qualify for the CL every year, and then look at trophies. Someone said on here (or maybe toontastic) that as long as they're promised to see Newcastle win a trophy, then they don't mind the timeframe. That's kinda how I feel about it.
  11. No - are you assuming that everyone NOT a player are Sam's mob ? I didn't include the tea-lady in there either. And no, before you jump on the obvious, not her either ! There are others - not the ones studying players walking patterns, stuying their feces, sock stretchiness etc, that could do the job who are connected with NEWCASTLE itself. Obviously I don't know the details (not many of us do) but I think Allardyce pretty much built his own backroom staff list. I think it'll take a hell of a lot of money to pay them all off, but I guess Mike doesn't have to worry about money.
  12. Because it would be difficult for Mort to take training, look after the players injuries, and manage the team on matchdays? Right - so theres just them, is there ? Ahh ok, you're asking why we haven't appointed someone yet?
  13. Are you taking the piss?

  15. Liverpool played more attractive football under Houllier than they're managing at the moment. There's little differance tbh. People are waking up to Benitez. The world catches upto me sooner or later. Houllier had Liverpool playing with 6 or 7 players who could score. Liverpool rely on 2 players now.
  16. Amazing how much stick we get for living with that memory. Kinda makes us look like a small club syndrome set of fans tbh

  18. Ironic post. Redknapp's teams play attacking football. Who doesn't understand football?
  19. Agree 100%. Yesterday just reminded me just how much I love this club, and just how much needs sorting out to get it back to where it should be. To be honest, I'm not hurting whatsoever about the result, I'm hurting about the state of the club (actually, that should read "state of the squad")
  20. With Drogba, Berbatov, Vidic and Fabregas pitching in.
  21. I'd rather we played like Chelsea to grind out results and win the league every year. Is that what you're asking?
  22. I don't think that was his tone tbf - I think he was trying to emphasise that he had done something "major" by putting that much money in to show he was serious rather than a figure of fun suggested by his sit with the fans image. I would stop short of kissing his arse but us being a debt free club is worthy of some gratitude I feel. Being debt-free doesn't affect the fans. If the efficient running of the club's finances eventually results in higher revenues which are invested in higher quality personnel, which in turn results in better performances on the pitch - then it affects us. Hasn't happened yet. I'll be grateful when it eventually - hopefully - does. Yeah, Luton fans aren't being affected at all mate. I agree with you Gol one day some people may grasp the concept that running a football club isn't quite the same as running Marks and Spencers Was thinking on the way home from the match today that I should PM you. Done a few u-turns on some of our debates, and starting to agree with you on many things. Help me

  24. He's the most pointless player on there. Everyone has him, and everyone has him as captain
