Or for the next couple of years until he wants to move to a bigger club...

how reliable are these channels though? if you've made it up just say so... it will save a lot of hassle and secondly how genuine are the reports on the station? have they taken it from the swiss papers or something? I bet it's their version of paper roundup. To be fair to Swissmag, the TV station is in fact rather reliable (I do get it here in Germany as well). I'm a bit puzzled about them reporting it as there is nothing about this rumour on their website and the teletext and their main sports news are not shown on TV until after 10.20pm tonight. I'll have a look at it when I get home from work later...

Yep. Remember the Roeder to Switzerland crap he made up? I think he reckons because we don't have these channels he can make up something. http://www.sf.tv/sfsport/index.php?catid=sportfussballx Absolutely no mention on that TV Station's website though. If it's true though and he comes, I apologise. It's not on their teletext (yet).

True, wasn't it De Costa before? Also Roeder was appointed as the new manager of Zürich a couple of weeks ago, wasn't he...

Those random references to former players he likes are just brilliant.

That was to be expected with them being able to show so many games and therefore devaluing the contract for Sky and Setanta by loads of pubs subscribing to it.

You have simply to distinct: 1) EU-nationals --> EU law stating that you don't need a work permit to work in another EU member state 2) Non Eu-nationals --> national law, the need to obtain a work permit and its regulations is down to the the national legislation and has nothing to do with EU law and its interpretation as you say. That's why it is easier for a Brazilian to play for a continental club than getting a move to an English club. If the UK wanted do make it easier for people coming from a Commonwealth (or any other non-EU) state to obtain a work permit valid for the UK, maybe based on relations or historical reasons, then it would simply down the politicians in London. Nobody in Brussels, Berlin or wherever in the EU could stop that kind of legislation.
-
It has absolutely nothing to do with "stupid EU legislation" that gets ignored by others. EU legislation doesn't affect non-EU nationals and is simply down to the national states. I've got news for you - EU Legislation DOES affect other nationalities - why do you think people from Eastern Europe can work in the UK AND get benefits there, when people whose relatives actually came from the place and are treated as Aliens at UK Airports ! You are right about ONE thing and I made that point in my first post - its down to INTERPRETATION by National states - and that is dictated by politicians... I don't know whether you are British or not, but if so, you are about to lose many of the qualities of being a nation due to the new EU Constitution - nothing like being ruled by Foreign, unaccountable bureaucrats, is there...!!?? Well, I am German and work/teach in law, so I pretty much think that I know what I am talking about. The thing about the people from Eastern European countries is down to most of them actually being members of the EU now. Therefore the EU employment market is open to them. It's just that certain countries (as Germany) did protect certain areas their employment market against the proposed influx from workers from Poland and other new members, others as the UK did less against it. This was all handled in the treaties with the new members when they entered. But as I said, that is totally different issue to people from outside of the EU (Brazilian, Croatians etc.) coming to work in an EU member state. Those regulations are simply down to the countries themselves. The UK does have strict regulations while other have more lenient regulations that especially benefit the clubs to sign players from non-EU nations. As I said this has absolutely nothing to do with EU legislation and its interpretation. The UK would be totally free to change their work permit regulations regarding non-EU nationals as they like it.

He's lived in Germany now for 9 years, so I don't see how a work permit can be a problem. I don't think he applied for a German passport though He just got one a couple of days ago.

You are not legally allowed to subscribe to the likes of Sky and Setanta (as already stated above) so you do need to order it via a third party (either a private person or a one of the companies selling subscriptions (illegally) abroad), that's how the Irish Pubs all over Europe normally do it. But you have to be aware that every contact to Sky etc. has to go via the third party. If they detect you are based out of the UK/Ireland they will cancel you subscription. This happened to the uncle of a friend who was running a pub at Mallorca. Going with Premiere isn't that bad. You'll normally see the games against the big clubs + various other matches. And Premiere is already advertising to show the matches against Bolton and Villa. There will also be some games on Arena.

He is the new chairman? Wow. This would explain a lot...

As the club is (although just for a couple of days) still listed on the stock market any change at board level would have to be announced to the stock market who are the only credible ITK source tbh. Shepherd won't do a lot at the moment due his health state though...

Ah, good old Sarah Winterburn. Good to see that she still isn't bitter about Newcastle. She failed to have a go at Shearer this time though...

This is actually what p*sses me off as well when people say that Allardyce shouldn't spend money just because he's got it. Queudrue & Geremi would have been passable at best had we not had new owners, now it's clear that we've got money so can afford better quality, then we should do it. If this means Allardyce has to change his original targets then so be it. Is Newcastle really in a position to do it? How do you attract those top class players if you have nothing except big wages you can offer them? We already got into the current mess by offering the likes of Dyer, Babayaro, Carr, Butt, Luque et al wages no other club will match. So we are stuck with them. Unbalancing the wage structure even more would be unhealthy imho. I like to see better players at Newcastle myself, but I don't kid myself into it that Newcastle can all out of a sudden have a squad off 22 world stars...

Fans getting upset at the possibility of signing a gash player? Whatever next? He is not "gash". He is decent. Who do you expect us to sign as backup left back then? Some peoples expectations on here are unbelievably f****** unrealistic. You sort of people will be the same people booing the team of the pitch on the last home game of the season if we only finish 7th. I don't think anyone is expecting us to sign two top class leftbacks and even people like myself who aren't pro Queudrue wouldn't be upset to see us sign him as backup. But at this stage we don't have a first choice to play there ahead of him. Until we do it would seem that if we are intent on signing him it would be for a starting berth and he's simply not good enough for that. Hmm, I wouldn't make my intention to sign a backup player dependent of signing a first choice player before. If the backup player you want is available then sign him. Otherwise you might end up with scenario like last season where you don't get a player at all - neither first choice nor backup. True I wouldn't want us to miss out on a back up player on a good deal just because we didn't have the first choice already signed. But it's no surprise that people are disapointed in seeing a move like this either. If we signed him tomorrow I would be disapointed but that would change is we also signed Bridge, at which time I would be thinking that we had a quality left back and suitable backup. I know where you are coming from, but I honestly just can't think of Quedrue as being a first choice option under any circumstances. This might be wishful thinking though.

Not really anything worth mentioning, but that really could be expected. Craig Hope's interview skills have vastly improved though...

The five years related to "long term success and stability" the likes of Manchester achieved. So it isn't really a contradiction.

Source? Can't find owt on Google Switzerland. There is nothing about it on any Zürich forum either. Plus, they already signed the former Swiss U21-coach...

It's not even worth the 10 seconds I spend reading this thread...

Yes, but he can play anywhere on the left flank. Good player.

They've just signed Ribery too - you know that right? They took a lot money from their bank account to heavily invest this summer. Toni, Italian international, 11m Euro Ribery, French international, 25m Euro Jansen, German international, 12m Euro Klose, German international, 12m Euro Schlaudraff, German international 1.2m Euro (buy out clause) Ernesto Sosa, Argentine, 6m Euro Hamit Altintop, Turkish international, free Ze Roberto, ex-Brazilian international, free

Thought to be 12m Euro up front, raising to 15m Euro depending on future success. Not exactly cheap for someone whose contract runs out next year. It also means that Makaay is going to be put up for sale now... More than I thought Isegrim. That said, he is quality and proven in their domestic league. What do you make of Makaay? Do you rate him? I am not a big fan of him, but loads of Bayern fans can't understand how you can replace him with Klose...
