Players like Tino have improved vastly since we signed them on their original contract terms and is now a star PL player and a star England player. Man City will offer him far advanced contract terms and we need to be able to match that to thwart off their advances. We can't just keep players on their original terms and expect no issues when other clubs are telling their agent how they're going to triple/quadruple their wages. Part of the reason the Isak situation is the way it is right now is because we broke his trust over a new contract on vastly improved terms.
