  1. We're waiting for the new version of the forum software to be released. New functions and s***. Dunno when it will be, unfortunately. i see. carry on
  2. whatever happened to the new logo and theme design anarl? been wondering for some time. have i missed something?
  3. Alan Thompson is according to 5Live. catching up with old mates? or doing a bit of a scouting job for us i wonder.
  4. No, it was Viduka's departure, a little earlier, which did the damage. Things immediately changed. Really missed him. Although I expected a downturn when the sub happened, I was actually surprised by just how much we lost. Suddenly everything bunched up and we were little better than we were against Spurs until he game on. correct.
  5. I know a few are busy sniping at each other at the moment, but can those who are not tell me who came on for Enrique?? I must have totally missed it!!
  6. So difficult to describe the feeling. It's somewhere between dealing with and imagining life in a lower division, and having a feint glimmer of hope that some sort of miracle can save us. Very difficult emotions tbh
  7. tell me where I said it was brilliant ? With hindsight though - and someone like you shouldn't really need this - it was better than the current situation, and better than the vast majority of the years before the Halls and Shepherd too. That's my point. Better than the current situation? Was it fuck!? Both situations are as dire as each other as we could all see the massive nose dive we were taking back then. It takes a bit longer to fall from the top. You don't hit the ground immediately do you!? The position we find ourselves in was coming regardless of Ashley. We had no more money. Of course Ashley the moron has made some serious errors in judgment and compounded the situation even further. It's all shit I tell ya.

Honestly? never has that Dowie smily made so much sense as now
  9. How do you score 4 goals away from home and still go out??? Really makes you fathom the absolute cracker-ness of this game
  10. Howay man. I don't think he had a choice in this department. Shola scored a couple of important goals this season, and had partnered AS previously and trained with him for years. He probably felt he could give him a chance to pull about their defenders with his awkwardness and create some space for Owen. I'm with you and everyone else that Shola should have been shipped out of the club eons ago. But for yesterday's game, we know if Martins was fit, he would have played. Either way, Shola signed his own exit from the first team, and showed exactly why he shouldn't be played. IMO Shearer's true test will be with Owen. If he continues to be ineffective, will he drop him? will he at least sub him off after 60 mins? nonsense in what way dude? care to expand? I'm sorry like, but I won't call AS's decision to play Shola Ameobi against Stoke a failure of a true test! Yes I would start Carroll ahead of him every single time. But it isn't the biggest issue surely! Come to think of it, the bad decision was starting Owen against that mob!! You just KNEW he wasn't going to get any change out of them.

  12. You're absolutely spot on. But the other side of the coin will say that only Nicky Butt could have made that last ditch challenge on the half way line when Stoke counter-attacked with 5 against 2 in the 2nd half before we scored.
  13. Ask yourself this: Have you celebrated a goal recently the like you celebrated Carroll's goal today? That goal game as a result of two or three players picking up their game 2nd half, putting in that extra effort to drive us at Stoke. The big unit made damn sure we got just reward for that by powering hundreds of thousands' of people's hope into the back of the net. During the spell in which we scored, Jonas, Taylor, Butt and Duff picked up their game and we started to win those 50-50's. Carroll made damn sure we went home with something to cheer about. I'm drunk and surprisingly spelling quite well, so it's all a bit too emotional atm. Soz like
  14. give it a rest lads. the reporter lead him into that quote. he asked Shearer if Oba's been asked to explain the situation. Shearer wasn't gonna say no he wasn;t!
