The biggest difference is that last year we were managed by Kevin Keegan this year Chris Fucking Hughton!!!
-
Nicky Butt interview in today's Mirror: Asked how much Newcastle have missed Kinnear since his triple bypass operation, Butt said: "It has not helped. When you have a manager at the helm, it is someone to look to and that is important. "The manager was not one for doing great coaching sessions day to day with the players. He comes in to his own on the day of a game. He was very much a man-manager on match day and that's the bit we have missed. Code for Hughton hasn't got a fucking clue!
-
He's not a YTS apprentice Skirge, he's a full Argentinian international for God's sake!!! Don't get me wrong, I like Jonas, but his end product is piss poor for us. I've been looking at his stats and one site says he's provided 4 assists and another says 2 assists, whatever the total is it's just not good enough for a player of his undoubted ability.
-
Do you think Harper decided himself to punt the ball upfield at every opportunity against Bolton and Hull or did Hughton have some influence?? The team selection, tactics and confidence of the manager has a huge influence on the way the players set about the opposition. I don't think it's any coincidence that we played very well for half an hour against the Mancs when very little was expected of the players and Hughton stumbled across a formation that suited the players we had available for that game. He obviously told the players to go out and hit the Mancs with pace on the break. It's also obvious that Hughton wasn't able to look Michael Owen and Nicky Butt in the eye and tell them that he wasn't going to start with them against Hull.
-
That's got to be a wind up! I'm not a big fan of Kinnear but I'd be delighted if he was here now purely because he's got the personality to dictate to the players and not worry about egos or reputations.

[Fanboy]Its the coaching, obviously. Look at how Milner's come on since moving on.[/Fanboy] When the team loses or fails to score, that will be all 11 players without meaningful contributions. [glow=red,2,300]You cant underestimate the ability to collect the ball under pressure and either make space, beat a man and move the ball forward. [/glow] If you look at the worst NUFC teams and the worst performances, you'll see players collecting balls under pressure without the ability to find a man, make space or beat a player. The team loses possession and eventually the pressure cranks up until we concede. Jonas collected the ball in his own and was surrounded by 3 man u players. If he loses the ball, man u go on the attack. He didnt and we went on the attack. Thats a meaningful contribution imo. All you "but he can't cross..he can't score...end product...boo hooo.." types should read this very carefully. Then read it again a few times until it registers. With regards to Chez's original post. Those attributes on-the-ball you could also award to Emre, but Emre wasn't as defensively solid as Jonas. Has the makings of a very good ball-carrying link-up man, and Emre didn't have the necessary physical strength & durability to fill a spot in the middle for any meaningful amount of time, in terms of a stretch of games played. But when Emre was there - with Martins' movement and pace further afield - there wasn't much that was amiss with our second phase/counterattacking game. Nobody - not me at least - is underestimating or overlooking Jonas' strengths. IMO his strengths aren't being used where they would be most advantageous, especially in terms of us creating some incisive second phase play though the middle of the park, if he was used as i've suggested some time ago. With this type of player filling what is a void in the engine-room there would be very little need to persist with the long-ball rubbish from the back, to a player/s - in Martins & Owen - who are ill-equipped to deal with this persistent pattern of play from the back. Harper's distribution - his short to mid-range passing game is better than Given's - is underestimated & being undervalued by the current bosses, and Collocini is more of a play-making centrehalf as opposed to being a rough & tumble 'old fashioned' British centrehalf. And goals aside Taylor's short passing game is at the moment his redeeming quality as a centrehalf. Put Beye into the equation and there's enough pass & receiving options in the defensive third who will create the necessary space - by pulling apart the opposition's zonal & pressing play in our half with the passing one-twos, triangles passing sequences - for Jonas as a 1st or 2nd Receiver. In fairness to Hughton and Co, that looked like the gameplan we had when we played Manure. And then Hughton decided to change it against Hull to accommodate Owen and Butt!!!
-
Hughton showed again with yesterday's team selection that he is not up to this job. Owen should never have started, but Hughton has not got the balls to disappoint someone like Owen so changed a side that had worried the Mancs for half an hour in order to accommodate him. Having seen the pictures of Ashley yesterday looking like he was shitting himself, I think even he can see that if he doesn't do something about the lack of management and leadership at NUFC then we are odds on for the drop. Time is running out Mr Ashley. You've got 9 games left to save our season and save your investment in the club. You should bring in Venables now offering him a large bonus if he keeps us up. I believe it would be money well spent.
-
Considering his undoubted ability, is Jonas the worst finisher we've ever had? Totally pathetic attempt yesterday when he had time and space. Should have at least made goalkeeper work.
-
Realistic, pessimistic and Swedish. Ouch. I believe Sweden has the highest suicide rate in the world. Obviously by also supporting NUFC you don't want to grow old.
-
I said that 3 days ago. He really is a fucking minge. Well done you! I'd rather you were our manager than that pussy. Thank fuck all of the other results went our way. I fancy us to get something from the Chelsea and Arse games with the home crowd inspiring this bunch of wasters to perform somewhere near their potential.
-
Hughton is a spineless twat that will take us down! Wrong starting 11, should have started with the 11 who played so well against the Mancs and brought Owen on for last half hour. Jonas has to be the worst finisher, for a player of his obvious ability, that I've ever seen.
-
For me the most worrying aspect of our current predicament is that Chris Hughton has been given the manager's job for the forseeable future. It shows how utterly naive Ashley and Lambiarse really are. Anyone who knows anything about the game knows that Hughton is incapable of making the decisions that will need to be made, proven by his team selection v Everton and taking Oba off on Sunday, and he's incapable of inspiring this group of wasters and underachievers to go out and get the results we're going to need to stay up. I agree with McManaman that neither Hughton or Calderwood have the passion, confidence, personality or bottle to get us out of this mess. Time is of the essence and if, as I fully expect, we get spanked by the Mancs tomorrow, Ashley should be sounding prospective managers out now to come in before the vital clash at Hull in 10 days time. If Ashley and Labiarse aren't looking at contingencies now I'm afraid we are on our way to the Championship.
-
Judging by his reactions during the Bolton game, he's now shitting himself! please explainify - didn't have coverage where i am...heard it a bit though, worse than the usual glum face by the sounds of it? Yeah, just his reactions and facial expressions really. Not sure it was enough to suggest he now realises how bad we are, but I imagine he was expecting a decent win at Bolton and got quite a shock. ah, , that's a pity - thought he might have been caught on camera mouthing "what a load of shit, this can't go on any longer it's time for a change" or something way to raise my expectations then instantly deflate them dude!! It was more than his normal reaction I reckon, but can't really say it means he'll suddenly do anything. Not much he can do at this point anyway really He could get an experienced manager in to replace the inept Hughton!
-
A very rational argument by Baggio. As usual Leazes harping on about the bad old days and how lucky we were to have FFS as chairman who, for your information, would have bankrupted us if allowed to carry on the way he was.
-
so what do you think of the merits of appointing a manager who won 4 titles with 2 different clubs and 3 manager of the year awards - before they do well or not so well, with your own unique gift of hindsight ? You're still fully behind Mike Ashley and his amazing success I take it ? Are we still on this question? he's a bit shy with the answer, the truth being that nobody in their right mind would consider such an appointment to be a poor one, but he might surprise us if he replies. Would you be happy if Shepherd bought the club back? do you mean the Halls and Shepherd ? I don't think SJH would, so say Douglas Hall and The Shepherds. Don't think Douglas Hall would I think it's Shepherds and other people. Of course DH would, piss about on drunken trips whilst getting 1m per year salary? eeerr........and the relevance, if the team is playing regularly in europe, filling the stadium, and signing good footballers, is what exactly ? That wasn't a retort to you, was just a joke, are you going to answer my question? what, a choice between Ashley v Halls and Shepherd ? No brainer, when Ashley takes us down you will have your answer. I'm starting to think you'd like that just to prove your point. Pathetic really.

Dennis Wise to the rescue?

First chance I've had to get on here and say: FUCK OFF YOU FRENCH CUNT!

It's more of a reflection on the position that the club is in for me. Exactly. It's a sad sad day for this football club when a player that has taken so much shit over the years from the powers above and still stayed loyal to the club, finally holds up his hands and says he's had enough. To be fair, this is the first time a club has been persistent in it's persual of Given. He's been well paid for the decade and more he's been at the club and we've had a good return from an excellent goalie. I wish him all the best in his new job. I'm sure Harps will step into the breach and do a good job for us. Let's hope he doesn't get injured because we won't have the insurance of having 2 of the best goalies in the league in our squad anymore.
-
How so? Because the club would have gone into administration if Ashley hadn't said he would keep financing the club it is that bad and even without spending money on transfers the club is still not making a profit, how much more do you want the financial state of the club to be pointed out? Yet people chirp up about how much better we would have been if Shepherd was still here showing ambition by borrowing more money to try and move us up the league, do these people have no grasp on reality? the accounts are from last year. i'd imagine without interest payments and the financing costs (£14m?) that we'll be making a day to day profit in 08-09 instead of a slight £2.2m loss. not that all our transfer funds should come from club profits, there's plenty of clubs making losses that still spend, most premiership clubs in actual fact. you have to spend to improve on the pitch, you have to invest money to get the greater turnover in the future. not investing will lead to stagnation at best and decline at worst. Didn't you claim that we should have made a £20 million profit last year that we should have had last Summer? Not being funny you haven't got a clue what the club should or shouldn't have. If any of the fat Fred bum boys want to tell me how we would be better off under him if he was still here then fire away, taking into account that Ashley has had to guarantee to finance us to stop us going into administration and having a -12 point deduction, the club making a loss before we even spend money in the transfer market and that we had already taken loans out against the stadium and the training ground. i looked at extra tv payments and reduced expenditure on debts. the first increased our income minus uefa cup money from 0607. the latter doesnt apply til this year as we were making interest and one off financial payments in the last accounts. it may have passed you by that im not a 'fat fred' bumboy. once again the deflection tactic comes into play. I didn't say you were, it was an open question to the people who think we would still have been better off if he was here, it's still open too if any of them want to try answering it. Like I said, you didn't know what the clubs financial situation was and like many others it's been an eye opener for you. Sunderland have a big debt in relation to their turnover, that they are still paying interest on, have made financial losses, yet spent over £70m net on transfers in the same time that Ashley has spent almost nothing. they took the policy of spending on transfers first to improve their on pitch results and reap the financial rewards that come as a consequence of that, and using the increased income to tackle debts later. some of our drop in revenue ie match day is directly caused by our lack of ambition. and had ashley backed keegan financially and in decisions i think we'd have a good chance of becoming a regular UEFA cup side again starting this or next season which would begin to improve our income. now the prospect of relegation this or next season seems much more likely and will probably cause a gradual decline in income. That was Leeds United's business plan under Peter Ridsdale. It's called punting the future of the club. Hopefully the Mackem's will go the same way as Leeds. I agree with Callimag that Ashley probably saved us from a similar fate because Fat Fred was following the Ridsdale model and we wouldn't have survived the current economic crisis. However, under Ashley's ownership I think we will suffer a long, slow, lingering slide into lower division mediocrity.
-
Players fighting on the training pitch, players rowing with each other during a Premiership thrashing, the manager whining about getting shafted for problems that existed before he arrived. It seems we have no leader and no team spirit at the moment. Relegation beckons unless something radically changes in the very near future.
-
Bunch of pathetic wankers calling for the manager to be sacked now! Will the bandwagon merchants fuck off now! This club needs it's supporters to support it, not scream for the manager's head.
-
Fat Sam now spouting his usual bullshit at his Blackburn press conference. "It wasn't my fault" regarding his failure at Newcastle. You were taking us down you fat useless git!
-
Thought Michael Owen was superb today. Class goal and he worked his bollocks off for the team. If he's fit he's one of the best strikers around and we can't afford to lose him.
