Step forward Andy Carroll and claim legendary status if you can play like that in our final six games of the season and keep us in the Premiership.

thats basically right, from start to finish. Unfortunately, there are still several people who either genuinely and stupidly disagree, and some who are only disagreeing because its me who is saying it. There are also others who still make childish comments like "Shepherds lovechild", which, if it was any other situation than the huge dive we have taken since they sold the club, would be the most laughable thing ever. I still bet the poster who said that, doesn't respond to the comments made by myself and HTL to him a week or so ago. I won't reference him in this post in this context again, but am more than happy to reply to any constructive comments he DOES make in the other threads. I'm so pleased my "Freddie's lovechild" jibe has gotten under your skin. As I've said to you before, you either are Freddie Shepherd or a relation of his because of the way you carry on defending him and refusing to accept that he was on the verge of bankrupting our club. I find it interesting that you haven't refuted my earlier suggestion that Shepherd was following the Peter Ridsdale business model for Premiership clubs, and that Ashley is indeed our saviour. Perhaps you secretly subscribe to this view but can't admit it because of the huge hole you've dug for yourself by your dogged defence of Shepherd.

Freddie Shepherd was following the Peter Ridsdale model of how to run a football club very successfully. For all Ashley's faults, and they are many, I still think we are now better off than we would have been had Shepherd still been in control of the club, but Freddie's lovechild Leazes will never accept that.

Article from Simon Bird, cunt and Mackem! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/04/08/ricky-sbragia-is-talking-himself-out-of-a-job-and-sending-sunderland-to-the-championship-115875-21263738/ It's perfect, the Mackems are going to do us a favour and take the drop in our place.

Thanks for your "support"!

Well said. Our win and draw ratios are a lot higher when Martins starts than when he doesn't, that's for sure.
-
It's a must-win for us. So not particularly. If we can't beat s**** like Stoke Hull when we need to then we deserve to go down. Yep. Why? Surely with that logic we deserve to stay up for beating Villa and drawing with Chelsea and Man U. The teams that deserve to go down are those with the least points. I'm simply making the point that we indeed cannot beat shite teams when we need to, like Hull. Who have the worst home record in the league. We completely deserve to go down as things stand. We had Hughton mismanaging us against Hull. If Al can't inspire this lot of wasters and underachievers to beat the likes of Stoke then we deserve to go down.
-
if i say he's not a battering ram will you disagree with that too? Why is he a battering ram? Drogba is a battering ram type, albeit with a lot more to his game, Heskey, Carew, a latter day Shearer, Shefki Kuqi if you want to bring it down a few levels why on earth would you consider Carroll a battering ram? Perhaps N'Zogbia and Ameobi think he's a battering ram, didn't he chin both of them earlier in the season?

I read that in my head with a Belfast accent and I agree with every word of it.

That's a strange English dialect.

I think Coloccini is a good footballer but what we are seeing now is a player devoid of all confidence, and for that reason, and the position we are in, I agree that he should be taken out of the firing line if Bassong and Taylor are fit. Further to that, I am very disappointed with Coloccini's character, even when he makes a mistake he shows no real desire to get back and try and rectify it. If he had shown some heart on Saturday he could still have prevented Lampard's goal.
-
Not much optimism on here at the moment. Al with have them fired up for this one and I can't see us losing. We have to be brave and play our football and Guthrie must start.
-
Arsehole!
-
It couldn't be better for me, I'm convinced that we'll catch the Mackems or Hull (with their obnoxious Mackem manager). One of them is going down instead of us and that's a certainty!
-
Owen's problem is the lack of quality we have in midfield. We must play Guthrie instead of Butt or Nolan next week.
-
We have the worst midfield possible for a player like Oba (and Owen). Not one of them, with the possible exception of Guthrie, is able to feed him a telling ball to feet.

do you think I'm suddenly going to say everythings alright then ? Optimistic bit of me says its a stroke of genius and he's seen the light, 2 years too late. Pessimistic bit of me says its a last desperate hopefull step that he hopes will save him at least 100m quid until he finds a buyer. I'm surprised you didn't remind us that Fat Freddie Shepherd originally signed Shearer so now deserves the credit that Shearer's around to save us! That's because Shepherd DIDN'T sign Shearer - SJH & KK were the guys in charge in 1996...SJH stepped down as Chairman in Dec 97. But in the world of Leazes everything good that happens to NUFC emanates from the hand of his hero FFS.
-
For half an hour against the Mancs and an hour against the Gooners they looked good enough to get us out of the shite. Shearer's job is to have them performing at that level for 90 minutes and, as he said, we should be OK.
-
If he wants to be.

He doesn't comment on good news stories.
-
Thank fuck Hughton is not our manager any more!!!
-
Ashley has eventually decided to punt some of his capital to try to save about half of his investment in NUFC if we can avoid relegation. My guess is that he's offered Shearer in excess of £2 million if he keeps us up and that is a shed load of money for 2 months work, even if you're Alan Shearer.
-
I did say that I give Ashley credit for this one decision. Turn your mind back 24 hours ago and remember how you felt then with no hope of staving off relegation to how you now feel. Ashley has made a lot of mistakes, but I know he's got this one right even if the worst happens.
