  1. I disagree that we are a "great club", what have we done to deserve that label? Great clubs are clubs that have a rich history and tradition that all other football fans can acknowledge and appreciate. Clubs such as Liverpool and the Mancs, Real Madrid, Barca etc. At the moment we are the laughing stock of football because of our on and off the field short comings, other fans think we're a joke because some of us believe we are a "great club" even though we've won nothing in most supporter's living memories. I think we have the potential to be a great club because the club is the focal point of a great city with a huge, fanatical fan base, but it'll take a long period of sustained success before we can call ourselves and, more importantly other fans consider us, a "great" football club.
  2. Does anyone remember when he played for PSG and they were involved in a penalty shoot out and Anelka actually took his boots off in the centre circle. Poor character with very little bottle.
  3. I'd love our billionaire owner to fuck Barton right off but he's a successful businessman, and he knows that Barton's still an asset worth some cash, so I think we'll see Barton in a black and white shirt again.
  4. On the 21st April Owen said "My contract is up next year but I'm very happy here, this is probably the most exciting time since I came to Newcastle." "I couldn't be happier with the fans and the new manager - I've enjoyed playing under him. I'm in probably the best part of my Newcastle career so far, and I hope there will be even better times ahead." And on 19th April Keegan said "My genuine feeling is that Michael Owen wants to be here; he wants to help lead this team for the next few years," said Keegan. "I don't want to tempt providence but my feeling is that a deal will be done as soon as they get together, really. I don't think it will take long. It's for Chris Mort to do that now. I have made it absolutely clear what I think should be done and I have passed that on to him." Both quotes were obviously made before Keegan talked down our chances of breaking into the top 4, and before the rumours regarding Owen having to take a pay cut. Owen's no fool and he's probably considering his options in the light of these recent developments. My own view is that I hope the club aren't getting involved in a game of brinkmanship with Owen's contract for the sake of taking £2 million off the wage bill. A fit, motivated Michael Owen is worth far more to us than that and I hope he signs another contract to keep him here for at least another 3 years.
  5. Why not? I think he'd be ideal to help progress Taylor's career. because they're both slow and vunerable against pacey, agile strikers and before anyone throws 'Terry and Carvalho' at me, those two are great defenders with excellent game reading skills who still manage to strugle now and then against a quick attack As I've said earlier, Dunne is quicker than I thought he was. I'll give you that Micah Richard's helped out once or twice, but I still feel Dunne would be a good partner for Taylor and way better than Faye.
  6. Why? Do you consider me a WUM Bagheed?? No, just interested if anyone else seen it so they could tell us what the source was. It began SSN understands that contact has been made between the 2 clubs. No source given.
  7. Why? Do you consider me a WUM Bagheed??
  8. Terry. Would probably need to sign a more "footballing" defender aswell with a bit of pace (imo) and Faye would then fill the DM position we currently need to buy for. I was massively impressed with Dunne when City played Liverpool earlier this season. Kept Torres quiet and was amazed how quick Dunne was, I always thought of him as a lumbering no nonsense centre back, but the lad can shift as well.
  9. Why not? I think he'd be ideal to help progress Taylor's career.
  10. Said contact between clubs has been made and that Dunne could go for a nominal fee as his contract's running out.
  11. ....according to SSN. Sounds good if it's true.

You really are a prallock aren't you? Anyone who didn't have any reservations after 9 games without a win are liars or loonies, and even if they did have faith in him turning it round, can't look down on people who weren't convinced. He's won me round, but only because he's pulled out a formation nobody would have came out with...and who'd seriously have thought after the Villa drubbing we'd be sitting here now enjoying a 4-3-3 formation and looking at a top 10 finish. Put me in the loony bracket then! I never doubted Keegan's abilities, but I doubted the players he inherited to save us from the drop. It's even more credit to Keegan that he's got this group of players playing decent football and getting results. I still have my doubts regarding this squads ability to take us to the next level, but I have no doubt that we have the right man at the helm to get us there if he gets the right financial backing.
  14. I don't know why we didn't try a couple of short corners instead of continually knocking it into the box against a side that had a huge height advantage.
  15. I know he'll probably not read it, but I've sent him an email just reminding him what he wrote and what an idiot he is. Made me feel better anyway.
  16. What a f****** piece of s*** you are. Ha ha, how foolish are those comments now. First time I've read them.. my mouth is doing its own impression of the Tyne tunnel. I've been told to get off my high horse because of my sustained support of Keegan in another thread, and not to go on a witch hunt to name and shame arseholes like "geordiedean" who have no idea about this football club. Well done for outing the twat!
  17. I agree. I had major doubts because I didn't want to be disappointed both for us, and him. I'm ecstatic he seems to be getting it right. And further delighted he's getting full praise for it - but even more - than the lousy turds of the rags and BBC and radio are having to put on hold all the joyous attacks on us and KK. Hopefully for GOOD. There'll STILL be petulant attacks, of course. There always will be. We aren't Man U or Liverpool or Arsenal - therefore shouldn't be doing well, say the media. Only a monumental IDIOT would want to start a pathetic witch-hunt and cause bad feeling when finally we all seem to be pulling together. Only an IDIOT would manage to alter my name whilst doing something as simple as hitting the quote button.
  18. I saw this programme this morning and I was screaming at the TV. How the fuck can the likes of Curry and his cohorts say that Fat Sam would have done a better long term job than Keegan. They have no idea about this club, and you could tell from their smug fucking faces that they want us to fail, and that negativity will be reflected in their reporting of the club.
  19. I used to agree with that sentiment. Thought the sacking was premature. However, since leaving he can't keep his gob shut so fuck him. Oh aye, don't get me wrong, he's been dissing us a lot since he left, and i dont like that. However, he is bitter, and i dont blame him. If i had been sacked and treated the way he had at Newcastle, i'd be bitter too. I still think he has a lot to offer as a manager, as a person he seems a bit of a cunt, but as a manager, very good. I suggest you watch the Derby away video again. Allardyce's one dimensional hit and hope percentage football based on Opta stats was never going to be good enough, and how you can conclude that he's a very good manager defies logic.
  20. To own up to such a thing would not only be seriously embarrassing for the individuals concerned, but would show them to have a distinct lack of understanding of this club and it's relationship with Kevin Keegan. Perhaps someone could do a search of the forum and name and shame the worst culprits.
  21. is that not jumping on the red top media bandwagon by convicting the lad before he has been tried at court.I don't know anyone that was at any of the mentioned incidents all i know is what i have read and i know it is hard not to think that there is no smoke without fire but regardless of who he plays for ,surely he deserves a fair trial. every time i read about the lad it mentions the fact that one of his family is in the clink for a racist murder, this gives a preconception of joey barton whether we like it or not.The fact is that he is, and should be innocent until proven guilty.I bet if everyone on here was perfectly honest there would be a hell of a lot of people admitting to crimes just as bad if not worse than what joey barton is now facing the difference is they havent been caught.i think KK will bring out the best in JB and that can only be beneficial to us. jesus - i fuckin hope that very few on here can admit to crimes as bad or worse than the ones barton is charged with Theres a certain amount of tabloid sensationalism/ Joey Barton hysteria built in to the above stories I'm sure. Well as a respectable middle aged citizen let me be the first to hold my hand up and say yes my "crimes" were as bad as those allegedly commited by Barton. I have D&D in the Bigg Market, ejected from a stadium (for no reason) and a couple of scraps against my name when I was young, believe me I haven't turned out too bad. The courts will decide, but I also know Kevin Keegan is a very fair and astute man, and had Barton really been a bad 'un, Keegan would have dropped him like a brick. Keegan is astute, and he appreciated that he had no choice but to get the best out of every player at his disposal if he was to get us out of the relegation mire, and that included Barton. Keegan has said that he's been badly let down by Barton before, Allardyce was convinced that he could sort Barton out and failed miserably. To some extent we've been down this road recently with Dire, Bellamy and Bowyer and it's not difficult to come to the conclusion that players of poor character never fulfil their potential and it's best to end the relationship early in order to minimise the disappointment, that's why I'd like to see the back of Barton sooner rather than later.
  22. Don't know about you but I'm more bothered than anything about what our players do on the pitch, clearly their lifestyles off the pitch mean more to you. So dragging the good name of the club through the crap and being the worst of role models means nothing to you then?
  23. He's scum of the earth and I'd love to see the club have the balls to out him before the start of next season.
  24. I hope the Keegan doubters are now feeling very embarrassed. I'll forgive the young'uns who can't really remember the Keegan glory years and can't appreciate what Keegan means to this club, but too many "supporters", who really should have known better, were quick to agree with the Southern press and question Keegan's suitablility for the job. Great performance and result today and, with relegation now only a distant nightmare, we can start to dream again and look forward to next season with renewed optimism. KEEGAN!!!
  25. Fucking great thinking! Why don't we start next season with as small a squad as we've had this season. If you hadn't noticed, the size and poor quality of our squad has almost got us relegated.
