Garde's latest comments today along with Carver spitting the dummy out last night in his interview would point to Garde being appointed soonish. This is what I want to believe and I have no interest in any other scenario.

Haven't seen much of Sunderland this year but from what I can gather they're not particularly great at breaking teams down who are fairly well organised. They can definitely soak pressure up and are organised themselves but the remaining home games they're going to have to actively look to take the initiative, get at teams and force the pace. That doesn't really lend itself to the things they're good at so on the face of it the lesser teams at home should be banker wins but it may well not work out like that.

Much rather be below Palace without Pardew than above them with him. I'd love to see him crash and burn (literally) but the end game has already been won. He's not here anymore thank fuck.

The sheer volume of hatred this board has for this bloke means it's unrealistic to expect people to just forget about him and let the thread drop down the board. People will, rightly or wrongly, continue to take the piss and wait for him to fall flat on his face which he inevitably will. Even after our new boss is appointed I can't see the schadenfreude wearing off quickly, if at all. The abuse and ridicule the horrible cretin continues to receive is understandable, warranted and can be contained in the one thread. Wouldn't be against renaming it the Crystal Palace thread however...

It's the type of signing we would have made 8 or 10 years ago. Old player, no resale value, on the decline for massive wages on a multi-year contract - one last big payday for the player. That said if he keeps them up this year (think he will tbh) then they'll get another lorryload of cash from the new tv deal and they'll see it as money well spent.

I could just about bring myself to accept it on the basis that Garde and his team would take over on June 1st. It's definitely not what I'd want though, haven't spoken to anyone who actually wants this fat wanker in charge.

I think I'll just wait and see what happens first tbh. For the record I think he's the right man from what I've gathered and if we've got to wait for him and his backroom staff from Lyon to join in June then I'm prepared to bite the bullet and be patient. Get this decision right and we're sorted for the next few years, if we've got to wait then so be it, I'd rather they took their time and got it right than panicked and just got someone.
