It's the type of signing we would have made 8 or 10 years ago. Old player, no resale value, on the decline for massive wages on a multi-year contract - one last big payday for the player. That said if he keeps them up this year (think he will tbh) then they'll get another lorryload of cash from the new tv deal and they'll see it as money well spent.
  2. I could just about bring myself to accept it on the basis that Garde and his team would take over on June 1st. It's definitely not what I'd want though, haven't spoken to anyone who actually wants this fat wanker in charge.
  3. I think I'll just wait and see what happens first tbh. For the record I think he's the right man from what I've gathered and if we've got to wait for him and his backroom staff from Lyon to join in June then I'm prepared to bite the bullet and be patient. Get this decision right and we're sorted for the next few years, if we've got to wait then so be it, I'd rather they took their time and got it right than panicked and just got someone.
  4. Just whipped a phone out and taken a fucking selfie.

I thought he signed a 5 and a half year contract when he signed? Think he might have 2 and a half years left and the article could be wrong. Just referring to what it said in the article, could well be wrong.

Can't see him being offered a new deal with him about to turn 30. He's got 18 months left on his deal so I think he'll go on the cheap either this window or the next to recoup something for him rather than lose him for nothing.

    Last 38 home games (League): W7 D14 L17 Pts35 how does that compare to the fraudew? W18 D5 L15 Pts59 I think.

Wonder how much pressure Poyet would have been under had they lost the derby but won another random game instead. No difference to the table points-wise but their solitary win since 3rd November just happened to come in the derby, maybe that's buying him time?

Hadn't realised they've only won 3 league games this season out of 21 played. They beat us, obviously, but they've only come out winners 3 times in 21 games. That's shit like. I know they've drawn loads but every other club in the division has won more than them so far. Don't think they'll go down but they need to string a few wins together.
  11. Chill, life will get him back in the end. It all equals out.
  12. Firmly believe that, if it comes off, this is absolutely the correct thing to do for the club. I think appointing someone like Garde is a great move and even if it doesn't quite work out then I'll not be criticising the actual appointment in any way. Totally 100% behind it, no guarantees it'll work out the way we want but it's the right move in my opinion.
  13. "We've got one team to catch, that's what I'm interested in. After this weekend we might be bottom but I'm looking at it as having to catch one team." Fuck me, reaching for the stars, eh? How does he keep getting away with it?
  14. In other words, it's not made the back page of the Mirror yet.
  15. Just wait till next week when we appoint a 'French nobody' and a 'unheard of forrin puppet' Just watching the montage at the beginning of the show we all know how this is going to pan out, don't we?
  16. I think I'm about to get annoyed.
  17. Marco Boogers. Probably already mentioned though. Edit: bastard only played 4 times.
  18. "If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor,"
  19. That's exactly the way it should be imo. Put all of the onus on the ref to, you know, manage the situation. It's in the laws of the game like that now, isn't it? They changed it a few years back - we're supposed to let the refs work it out. It's like so many of these laws introduced to sort out specific issues, they get gradually ignored, then forgotten over time. Exactly.

  21. Montpellier score against marseille whilst a marseille player is down needing treatment. Didn't do anything wrong as such by playing on but you just sort of expect to see it kicked out as a matter of course.
