Fair enough if he's been signed because he's a player who we'd want rather than a player who was available due to coming to the end of his contract. Would we have looked at him twice if his contract wasn't due for renewal at Everton? We'll never know why he was signed but I'd rather have Gosling in the squad than Smith. If he's better than what's currently here (which, from what I've read and seen, he is) then I couldn't give a shit why he's been signed. We've got a load of dead wood picking a few hundred grand between them every week whilst contributing fuck all. They're the problem.

don't know why he was even being pushed to play again this season. It should have been written off as soon as the break was diagnosed. Better to give it the long rest than rush him back for the sake of a game or two at the end of the season. Just take it easy and wait for pre-season would have been better.
