The guys a brick, what do you expect? STFU. @ Miguel- It will be just like Keegan's first time. I suggest you check your pm's from about 6 weeks ago. Start from May 18th. :hmm::hmm: What am i missing? A f***ing brain by the look of things. Are you taking the piss? It seems you are lacking one. A two year old can work out that when I delete all my pms, I will not have the one from may 18th. Hence, I will be missing it. P.S- Don't say you didn't know because I asked what I was missing. You genuinely are as thick as I thought you were. SCENT

He may be a big fish in the Reading pond but he will be amongst whales in SJP.... Not that I want him here anyway.... **cough, Viduka, cough, cough**

It never ceases to amaze me when so many people just believe whatever they read/hear in the media. The 'it's in the paper so it must be right' brigade. Why can't people just use their intelligence/common sense and decide for themselves how likely something is to happen. Has this country sunk so low that the general public rely on the Sun and the Daily Mail to tell them what to think? It annoys me.

Oh gawd. Toys out the pram. @ James.

Fucking hell.

That's a lot of cash to be handing over every week considering his level of performance. Just a bog-standard central defender imo.
-
That reminds me - haven't seen Skirge around for a bit.

Not sure about the England thing like. He's not a bad keeper but he's certainly not a great one either. 115 games in 15 years isn't much of a career to start waxing lyrical about.

That's not how it reads to me. See section 41 - seems to be part original transfer fee, part old & new wages (bonuses are tricky and subject to negotiation), and part "sports related damage caused to the club, blah, blah, blah" which could amount to anything really. Not sure we're officially allowed to do that though, otherwise it could be seen as if we were inducing him to leave in the first place? there has already been a precedent (2 actually) so have a look and see what happened then. Andy Webster, the 26-year-old Scotland international, who is now at Rangers, became the first player to successfully invoke Article 17 when he bought out the remaining term of his four-year contract at Hearts in moving to Wigan Athletic in 2006. Hearts received £150,000 in compensation - the value of the final year of Webster's contract. From the Guardian.

Anyone know whether we officially hold his registration until the legalities are resolved? ie could this drag on and we're not able to play him? Not sure at all. If they're after compensation, that suggests that they've accepted he's actually gone but they want some £££ to soften the blow. If they could hold on to his registration I think they'd have already threatened to. Just guessing though - I could be totally wrong.

He's a decent player by all accounts. My mackem brother-in-law rates him and he was saying he was holding the back 4 together when he was playing. Wouldn't mind him if the price is right.

Well it certainly won't be Harper on the way out. We'll need dynamite to get that fucker out.

Sorry, but I do feel that this is a historic moment for football that clubs are starting to use this method to recruit players. For instance, Gerrard and Carragher can leave Liverpool for £12m next summer. Would have been double that for Gerrard previously. Anorak.

When you spend £18m on a striker you're entitled to think you've got a top-drawer player. Not too sure how much Hughes had to do with this reading between the lines. It appears that he'd been targeted before Hughes even got the job. Who's buy is it?

Jo to City completed today, in case it's not already been mentioned. New Man City striker Jo Jo is Manchester City's record signing Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Brazilian striker Jo for an undisclosed club record fee. The 21-year-old CSKA Moscow star is the first signing by City boss Mark Hughes since his arrival at Eastlands. Jo, who helped CSKA win four trophies during a three-year spell in Russia, has agreed a four-year deal. Meanwhile, Hughes has confirmed that negotiations to bring Ronaldinho to Eastlands are ongoing and the deal is not dead as has been reported. "He is a world star and if these things are going to happen they are likely to take a bit of time and we are patient," said the former Blackburn boss. "It is a process that is on-going. It has not slowed in any way shape or form and there is no immediate deadline." For the time being Hughes must be content with the capture of Jo, a player who is delighted to have joined City. "I decided to come to Manchester City because it is one of the clubs who showed more interest in me, although I had other offers as well," said Jo. He added: "After I spoke to the manager (Hughes) I was very pleased. "I was told Manchester City is a club going forward at the moment. We can go places, that is our objective. We thought about it and I decided to come to Manchester City for that reason." Jo also revealed that Spanish outfit Valencia were one of the clubs that were interested in the striker. "The club who showed interest officially was Valencia," he said. "I know from the press there were other clubs who showed interest." The transfer, thought to be worth about £18m - beating the £13m the club spent to sign Nicolas Anelka from Paris Saint-Germain in 2002 - was first mooted several weeks ago and City will be delighted to have finally got their man. Jo is advised by Kia Joorabchian, who was involved in the saga concerning Carlos Tevez's move to West Ham in August 2006 and later the switch to Manchester United. The 6ft 3in forward, whose full name is Joao Alves de Assis Silva, scored 44 goals in 77 games for CSKA Moscow. He also helped them to a Russian league and cup double in 2006 and has Champions League experience, notably scoring home and away against Italian champions Inter Milan last season. "He's a big guy, in stature and ability, so I think everybody will enjoy watching him play," Hughes added on the club's website. "A lot has been said about him and there was an expectation on him coming out of Brazil, so with the success he's had, I think it's a real coup that we've been able to bring him to the club." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/7442429.stm

I've always rated Aimar and I'd love to see him in black and white. He's got the vision to spot a pass and the talent to actually deliver it. Not sure if he lost his way at Valencia or what but if he's available then I'd like to think we're going for him. No guarantee he'd fancy it up here and he'd probably have better offers but you never know.

Bit peturbed that he's managed 6 goals in 193 appearances. Still more than Smith like but you get my drift.
