  1. The first one I actually recall was when we put 4 past Luton in '88. O'Neill hat-trick and Kenny Wharton sat on the ball.
  2. Plenty mentioned already but I'd throw Steve Finnan's name in there too.
  3. Not saying he is good enough but players a lot worse have. Gavin McCann('t) for example... *shudders*
  4. which one Actually, I'm thinking of the one I saw in The Back Page - The Damned United re: his short time at Leeds. I do remember reading a Clough biog on my hols after my Dad had read it. That was years ago but very probably not the same one. I'm not massively into sports biogs / books in general as loads of them are shit. I've read the odd gem though. Anyway, enlighten me, oh wise one Flattery will get you everywhere. Most of the time Nah, not fair on midds, there aren't many copies around and he's looking for it, and I'm looking on ebay for it for him, so I'll let him tell you if he wants to Sorry Alex. Will "the life and times of Graeme Souness" do instead No worries mate, fair do's. Midds would probably lend it to me when he's finished anyway as I would to him. Course I will. Getting hold of it is going to be the hard part though. Needle in a haystack time methinks. > well, they have copies on amazon but they are expensive, over 20 quid Forgot about amazon. nnnggghhh!!!

  6. I have no recollection of him as a player and I'm about 10 years older than you. I was referering to no recollection of any mention of him in the record books as being anything more than just a good player. What about the one which states that he's the only bloke to represent his country at every possible level in the game?

    Alkmaar (A)

Happy days: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=37317.0 Most Online Ever: 480 (March 15, 2007, 09:42:28 PM) Bingo.
  8. Leeds Ultras 'n' White-Rose Posse. Buzzin in Darlo. 2007.
  9. I'm sure the commentator said something like "a third had travelled up the A1" to see the game.
  10. Sounds good. What time mate? 7.45 I think have you got that book yet ????? EDIT ITS AT 6.45 Cheers - Sky+'d. No still not got the book yet! I've been throng on at work and I've really pushed it to the bottom of the pile tbh. I WILL get a copy of it eventually though - come hell or high water. Cheers for the head's up.
  11. Sounds good. What time mate?

    UEFA Cup Draw

Have they sorted out who's home and who's away yet?
  13. It's about developing a partnership at CH that's important imo. You can't just rank them and pick the best 2. They've got to complement each other and form and understanding. From the, relatively, little I've seen of Cacapa he looks an excellent player. Reads the game well and has a canny touch but is getting on a bit and isn't the quickest. Faye looks like an absolute monster but is perhaps a little too physical and will give loads of free-kicks away. Roz looks a decent player and seems comfortable on the ball but needs to toughen himself up. Taylor is a 100%er but is too rash and doesn't read the game well enough yet. Allardyce will have to mix and match to deal with the forwards we play against but I'd like him to choose a pair to start most games and stick to it as much as possible.
  14. You're not walking are you? well id say more of a fast jog tbh Scottish? Twin brother? Forget it...

    Alan Smith

    Alan Smith

I thought he was quite fortunate not to get sent off today tbh. All around me were up in arms when he got booked but I thought he cleaned the lad out and went straight through his ankle.

    Alan Smith

He's never a midfielder in a million years. He's a forward who works hard and he'll put himself about. He's not good enough technically to operate in the middle of the park. His tackling and passing aren't good enough but he can get away with it upfront. He did more today than his previous 6 games in midfield. We've got midfielders and should be used up top whenever Viduka isn't fit. Ameobi shouldn't get a look in tbh.
  18. Do you not think there could have been shout for him to leave it. Maybe. I don't think he could leave it though, it would have bounced in a very dangerous area. He just flapped and fucked it up. It looked like it was spinning in at the time and would certainly have hit the inside of the post had he left it. It looks poor but people would have slagged him off if he'd have left it and it bounced in off the post. Just one of those things. Better than being beaten from 65 yards out I suppose.
  19. He did seem a bit miffed tbh....

    Wing Swapping

I can see the advantages of switching wingers. But surely the whole points of playing with 'wingers' is to give the midfield a bit of width and provide crosses to attack. Switching wingers negates the option of getting to the bye-line and standing crosses up because the full back knows straight away that it's coming inside and can, generally, deal with it much easier. Of course having a pair of two-footed wingers is the ideal option...

    Ashley Young

If Young played for Chelsea and Cole played for Villa - Young would start for England on the left imo.
  22. Elano had a competent goalkeeper between him and the net. Shay's shit don't forget. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=45676.0 I see.... Better give it Michael Johnson then. You're just showing off now...

    Celtic fan attack

They couldn't even see his face barely, nobody saw him what was the point in turning himself in. I think its fair that they get a ban, and perhaps some games behind closed doors. To be honest though Dida went down like he'd been hit by a grizzly bear, how embaressing if his kids see that. No doubt he will have the piss taken out of him at training for being such a wuss. I reckon CCTV in Celtic Park might be canny good tbh. Biggish fine and 2 games behind closed doors sounds about right imo. Was daft but hardly crime of the century was it?
