    Luke Young

Same argument didn't hold water a while ago when people talked about Heskey being an improvement on Ameobi. A player is either good enough for where we want to be or isn't. Young isn't a big enough improvement. Enough money has been wasted already, the club needs to buy players who are a significant improvement on what we already have. Young IS a significant improvement on Carr. I'd agree but the fact remains that while Young is average, Carr is absolutely dreadful. Neither is good enough to hold down a first team spot if we want to get to where we all want to go.

The only flaw in your proposition is the fact Roy Keane actually has eyes.
  3. Eight fucking million? As in £8,000,000m? The world's gone mad.

    Owen

The only things i want to hear from Owen are the following: 1) I'm delighted to be signing this 2 year contract extension and look forward to getting this club back where it belongs. Or 2) I've asked my agent to find me another club. I'm unhappy here and want to move to a club that meets my ambitions. Got to be honest, I don't really care which one it is. He either commits his future to us or he decides to go and gives us a chance to scrape back some money on the deal. Offer him the contract and see what his reaction is.
  5. Bristol Rovers just equalised against Shrewsbury. Currently 1- 1. edit: thread title changed.
  6. Got to go with Keegan too. Lifted the whole city twice, once as a player and once as a manager. He oversaw us from possible relegation to Division 3 to Champions, 3rd, 6th and 2nd. The ground changed beyond belief as did the playing staff. We are where we are due to him. I consider him breaking the world transfer fee record in signing Shearer his parting gift. That said, Shearer was a absolute monster for us in his 10 years here. Missed about 2 seasons through injury and still managed to average over 20 a season in his 10 years here. I still laugh that Man Utd fans hate him even after he's retired. They know what they missed out on.
  7. Exactly. The whole Tevez/Mascherano thing stank at the time. Should have been investigated and dealt with straight away.
  8. Got a massive amount of sympathy with Sheffield UNITED over the whole issue but I can't help but think that by doing this, they're going to antagonise the Premier League even more. They'll just dig their heels further in and refuse to reverse the decision purely out of principle. Still think west Ham should have had points docked but, as Dave says, they left it far, far too late to decide the punishment.
  9. I'm in the 'let him cut his teeth in the lower leagues first' camp. Would love to see him take charge at somewhere like, for arguments sake, Darlington. Lower league cub, new ground & canny potential fan base. Very little money to deal with but gates would rise dramatically simply due to him being in charge - thus generating cash to spend.

    Luke Young

I'd take him for £2m but keep him as cover for someone better. This person isn't at the club at the minute btw.
  12. McClaren has built this game up to be a vital one. What he fails to mention is, it's only vital because the team has already dropped points because of his selections, tactics and his inability to motivate his players. Had we won the games we were more than capable of, this one should have been a formality. Estonia? A vital game? Give me a break!
  13. Would rather he gave someone who is going to be around for the next 5 or 10 years a chance. Beckham is basically retiring in a few weeks time and won't be around for the finals, if we get there. If McClaren is developing a squad who are slowly getting used to each other then I honestly can't see the logic of picking him. Plus he now looks fucking spineless.

    Andy Carroll.

Ameobi's a decent squad striker. No more. He'll come in and do a job and score a few but I'd hate to have to rely on him to get goals on a regular basis. He's nowhere near as bad as some make him out to be, but he's limited.
  15. Thankfully, he's forced McClaren into making the correct decision regarding Beckham. Surely even he can't pick Beckham over Bentley after tonight? Can he? Surely he can't pick Beckham (who has been churning out good performances in La Liga) over Bentley, because he's had a good game against Albania? I am a fan of Bentley, though. He needs to be in the squad before Jenas, Lennon etc. One's got a future, one hasn't.
  16. Just wondering who tbh... midds will you take my wife off your avatar please?

    Bale signs for Spurs

........to finish 5th yet again. Plateaued out tbh. Would give a lot to finish fifth. I've seen 6 top 5 finishes in the last ten years or so. Forgive me for being satisfied with 5th.

  22. is Parker on the bench? Parker's out for the next month or 2 with a hernia.
  23. Couldn't make it up.... Injured after 15 seconds! Not his fault tbh and he'll run it off.
  24. Taylor & Dyer on. This should be interesting...
