Well aye, but it's just such an incredible thing to say. I know not everybody rated Robert but he produced for this club. He had his problems with Souness, but even when that twat was manager Robert changed the way we played when he was eventually selected. Some people have bloody short memories. Robert scored and created more goals than the rest of the midfield combined, comparing his contribution with that of Luque is one of the most ridiculous things I've read. Agree totally. I think most people who continue to defend Luque are basing their opinions on snippets they've seen on tv of his time in La Liga rather than on his contributions in black & white. He's looked a poor player almost from day 1. I know he's had a bad injury and he's still settling in etc etc but he's produced virtually nothing when he's had his (limited) chances. Time to bite the bullet and take another big loss on another failure I'm afraid. Wish it had worked out. It hasn't. There's nothing to suggest it will happen. I like the derby matches myself. I've said this before, but the best scenario for the mackems in my view would be for them to be in the PL so that we get the tension of the derby games. I'd like them to make a couple of signings every summer to get them excited and to think they're going places, only for reality to kick in during the first month of the season that it's another struggle. I'd like them to survive every season by virtue of a single goal or something, so that they spend the entire season watching shite and in fear of the drop. Fair enough, they'd be relieved at avoiding it in the end, but then for every season to be the same, season after season of struggle but we still get to beat them in the derby games. Fair enough. I'd prefer it if they went out of business tbh. It's fucking rediculous. Last season we at least gave Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, and Newcastle(away and 1st half of home game) a game. Yet they have failed to manage this against Coventry, Birmingham, Plymouth and Southend. It's frightening that we have WBA as our next league game, meaning a whole month without a point at this clubs natural level. All of the performances have been woeful. What hurts the most is that the players obviously don't care anymore, and bottle challenges all the time. I thought it couldn't get worse after the 19 point season, I was wrong, I didn't think it could get any worse after a 15 point season, but it really has. I honestly believe we could get beat by the team bottom of the whole football league (Bury) in the week, the way the players are currently playing. I can imagine how funny it is from an outside view, especially from a Newcastle/Boro fans point of view, but when you are there actually watching the shit on the pitch claiming to be professional footballers, it really hurts, especially as thereis in effect very little that you can do but sit thereand watch the worst team I've ever seen just woefully surrender to teams that were about 7 years ago in the lowest league/in non-league. And also to point out the mistaken view to many people have that we won trophies galore, always played in europe, always bought top quality footballers and always filled the stadium before the Halls and Shepherd took over the club. It is also to point out that many, many clubs in the past have fallen from heights of actually being championship winners, European Cup winners, through chaning boards or simply just getting things wrong, so being careful and wishing the replacement of a board who have presided such a big improvement, may not necessarily be the golden egg that you hope for. Understand ? Thought not. There are plenty of Luque threads if you want to read something easier and less boring ........ or should I say, not testing your knowledge of the club too much.
