it was photoshop job.... get away

It needs to be said because people make rash statements such as it being easy to turn this club into a success and other daft comments such as they don't want to see "son of fred" in charge (whatever that means). The fact is it is not easy to turn a football club into a success, implying it is easy does a disservice to a group of people who did a decent job for most of their time in charge. I realise I'm pissing against the wind because their work wasn't appreciated (and still isn't) by a lot of members of this forum. They even take large crowds for granted, as though we've always had large crowds. I don't think it's easy to make it a success as such, but I think it would be relatively easy to make it a moderate success (i.e. more than we'll achieve under Ashley). Only because of the improvement that happened under the last lot. They turned it around from sub 15,000 crowds ( I could stand in the Paddock and swing a cat and not hit anybody if I wanted to ) to the interest we see today. The irony is that Ashley is exactly what people thought Fred was. A clueless, inept nob. HTL could you point to or name one person who thought that the previous board were crap all the time ? as i've pointed out enough times the vast majority see fred and co as doing very well for a good long while, the best and most attractive and most succesful we'd seen in our lifetimes.....but then it went backewards with seemingly bloody obvious stuff going a miss and not seemingly capable of being able to turn it. would the right thing be to say "hey they done it a while a go so we should stick with them" (even though the total ethos had changed....ie spend what we've earned replaced by borrow, borrow, borrow and hope)

cheers ben....the thing is we were all told that instead of being swept away it would be their cup final and thy'd give it more than normal. also the problem managers have is that not only have oppo managers got to work out how to beat us,not many will have the players to do it. the crunch will be how the players and fans reasct to a reult or two going against.

you'd almost think it was a photoshop job.

Now I'm no betting genius but 12/1 sounds pretty s**** value for all of those. Not really, most are clear favourites to win. You won't get a lot from Lithuania, Ukraine and Greece I'd imagine. Not that it'll matter, as Norway won't win. they'd bloody well better

Because this is exactly the thought process that landed us with Roeder as manager. We are comfortably stronger than most of the teams in this league and Hughton is doing a competent job at getting us the results we should expect tbh. Things would change quickly if he had some difficult personnel issues to sought out. He's not a manager but is proving to be an excellent coach who's done a great job in the short term, as Roeder did in the past. But don't be fooled, he hasn't got the backbone to do this gig for a sustained period of time. roeder was one of our better managers in recent times No doubt you have armed yourself with a whole bunch of useless stats to back up that argument. Key one is going to be that 7th place finish. I thought Roeder should not of got the job but I wont slag him off as he was good captain & when he has spoke about since leaving Newcastle United he has wanted us to do well. I dont get that vibe from Souey & BFS. The point made by afar still stands though. Roeder has only proven that he gets worse as a manager the longer he stays at a club where his character flaws get exposed. You have to consider the possibilty that Hughton could turn out the same and it will be interesting to see if he has the strength of will to ignore pressure from senior players at the club, and make tough decisions. the difference between roeder and hughton is that,as you say roeder got exposed as time went on, it had been proved before he took our job. that level of history isn't there with hughton, he could turn out that way but so could the majority of other managers with little or no experience.. thats not to say i want hughton in the job permanent.

funny you should mention that prog in relation to the travails of nufc as when i was watching it i did see some similarities. mainly that there were some at rough trade whos attitude was "it's just about the music" and didn't care to think about the financial consequences. similarly there are some on here who over the past few years have wanted things to focus solely on the football (beautifully romantic idea that it is) when to get the best out of the soul of it (the football or the music) you have to balance it will the dull, pragmatic, horrible financial side.

basically i've became the bookie and have took a bet on scotland not to win. i don't know about other exchanges but you can add lay bets into accys on betfair.

And there it is. It really is f***ing easy to make this club a success as all one needs is common footballing sense. Ashley and his cronies have clearly lacked this and here we are, slowly clawing back to normalcy despite the fat one's ineptitude. I wish. If it was as easy as you make out how come the people who have done the best job of trying in over half a bloody century are despised by so many and thought of as s***, unless the "so many" who think this way are total know-nowts? You tell me, mate. tell me who they are. the vast majority think they done very well for a while then lost it in their last few years in charge.

holland already qualified, scotland need something. i've laid scotland in my accy. I have invested £20 on all the pressure being on Scotland to win and Holland being more than capable of pulling apart teams that are much better than Scotland don't think scotland will win but i think too close to call on lose or draw. i have just added holland on a shorter higher priced accy.

Again, a nautical term from the days of sea-faring wars. rubbish..it's from the days of remote control boats at paddy freemans when you had to identify your frequency with little coloured flags on a board so you didn't conflict with the controls of another boat. i believe it also happens in the high revving world of remote controlled cars.(or at least it used to....and no i didn't have a boat, a friend did)

Of course, its commonplace all over the Premier League, Pompey and WBA did it with several players last year and this. The rules on loans that Dave posted even say theres no limit to overseas loans iirc Sorry, I meant outside of the transfer window. Ah in that case am not sure. Am assuming it would only be possible if the other country had the same 'emergency loan' stipulations as ours. Probably unlikely tbh wouldn't it be down the rules of the country where the player would be registered ? Pass, does a player re register when he returns from a loan? Not sure of the ins and outs of that part. good point, never thought of that.
