my feeling is that they're pretty intimidated by our potential, if ashley and mort get things right we could be an absolute juggernaut of a club Why would a journo be threatened by the possibilty of nufc reaching its potential? The only thing that i can think of is that nufc in recent years has been a cash cow for the number of negative incedent and has got a lot of interest from the media about it, maybe they're trying to flog a dead horse, its kinda a soap opera up here. But that doesnt really explain they're motivation to actively disrupt us. I cant think of a single club bar Chelsea that has had so much negative stuff written about them, in fact id go as far as saying no team has had more negative press in the entire history of the prem than nufc. Is that a bit OTT? it could be that the fans at other clubs don't buy the paper just cos there is a headline related to their club or they just shrug it off where as there is always a reaction from a sizeable ammount of newcastle fans.

I recognise pace is important though Pie, I just don't regard it as very important so long as a player has other tools at his disposal which Milner obviously does, and despite his lack of pace he's not doing too bad. My argument isn't with you or the debate about Milner being good enough or not anyway, but with the mentality within the game that pace is a must have and the effects that's having on youth football, or rather the detrimental effect it's having. He doesn't though. That is the point. Solano clearly did. Milner clearly doesn't. If he did have then there wouldn't be a debate. Pace has always been useful by the way. Its not a new thing. JET Milburn springs to mind. If pace wasnt necessary then ask Bobby Robson why he always bought it/used it. From Alan Brazil to Gary Lineker (yes he was lightning in his prime) to Ronaldo to Craig Bellamy. Same applies to Alex Ferguson and Wenger. Would you say they were successful managers? Of course other things are useful. However, it is daft to suggest it is a new phenomenon. The game is more physical and way faster. Without pace, people struggle nowadays. Particularly in the Prem. However, its nothing new. Ask Kevin Keegan why he retired. Didn't Sir Bob buy Milner ?? Look i know you don't like Milner whilst i really rate the lad. I can't see your point of view at all really. Milner is a credit to our club and is a good talent as is Zoggy and Taylor imo. I don't think i'll be able to change your mind so i'm not going to bother. You are quite right. Apart from people who are a credit to the club are those who do well for it by making a significant difference. Therein lies the rub. Freddie Shepherd bought him by the way. SBR signed Fumaca, he wasnt infallible! SBR also signed Ronaldo etc Pie you don't half talk alot of s*** Freddy bought him because SBR wanted him. SBR didn't buy him cause he's s***. I've also seen Waddle play plenty of times and Milner is probably at least as fast as him possibly faster. Milner isn't as quick as lennon SWP Dyer etc that doesn't make him slow, they are all just very quick. Viduka would be my idea of slow. viana would be my idea of slow. who signed him ?

That would be a hard choice for me, both were class players and both would make a massive difference to our current team. Stick Ginola on the right. didn't work when keegan tried it at away at everton

we started out with tactics,we ended with passion. tonight fans will be arguing over wether we played 4-4-2 whern viduka came or or was it 4-5-1 or 4-3-3. we won, just about deserved it aswell. hurrah!

yes the larndarn press give us no slack.........tough!! just get on with it. aren't we better for achieving anything inspite of them ?

The key to a solid defence is consistency but our defence has been chopped and changed so much by Sam that the players haven?t had a chance to develop any kind of understanding, and if it continues they never will. We have played with 10 different defensive line-ups this season. On the whole, the changes haven?t been forced upon Sam by injury or suspension. They have often been made to accommodate midfielders in the side; which sort of rubbishes the idea that his priority is stability at the back. I agree that a solid defence should be the first priority. Sam may say it is his but he is making absolutely no progress towards it and seems to have no clue of how to achieve it. We will continue to leak goals as he continues to swap the defence around and that doesn?t show any signs of stopping. it's not the defence,it's the defending throughout the team. i am absolutly f****** sick of having to point that out. Have you nicked Ne5's act? mackems.gif (now i have)

Reminds me of that song i've heard once or twice at games. The one that goes something like "me brothers in borstal,me mams got the pox, me sisters a hooker at hartlepool docks. you mean me brothers in borstal me sisters got pox me mothers a whore down on hartlepool docks me uncles got rabies me aunties gone mad and jack the rippers me dad.................laaaaaa laaaa laaaaa lalalalalalalala (they just don't write'em like that anymore)
-
at least it might guarantee us being in the 4th round draw
-
i've had a couple of e-mails read out and once got an e-mail urging me to call as they'd like to put me on (was about the kelvin mackenzie saying the scots were lazy etc and the south east provided for the rest of the country)
