depends how much (if any) ashley is prepared to put in. he could tempt prctically who he wanted if he was to guarantee them a £200million transfer kitty for example. saying you have to generate your own funds may find it more difficuilt to tempt a name. Everyone has a billionaire owner these days though. And it is very unlikely that Ashley is going to triple the budget of the top 4. You can't reasonably expect him to wager a good chunk of his fortune on new signings. So let's assume a substantial budget, but in line with spending of other top 7 clubs. I'm just curious what names people have in mind. Are we talking Mark Hughes? Jol? Mourinho? Capello? Because trying to look at this objectively, Newcastle would have to be one of the least attractive jobs in the Premiership for a top manager. What incentive is there? Big salary - fine, but you can get that anywhere in Europe. Transfer budget - higher than most rivals, but they also have billionaire owners, and why would top players sign for a mid-table club? Any manager would know that there is no chance of long term success, and that they would have to produce short term results with the squad they have and as soon as they arrive. Would they move their family knowing that they are statistically very likely to be out of a job in 12 months time? Newcastle United manager is a tough job at the moment; sack Sam, and it becomes the dead end of football management. Anyone qualified and competent wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Why would they? thats the whole point, so everyone has a billionaire owner but liverpool are regining in the spending and lerner hasn't splashed chelseas style cash about. if ashley is planning on putting up serious cash he can attract very good quality. oh an what incentive is there ? to create something like keegan did and how is he thought of. to turn a huge club into a winning one.....to succeed where everyone else has failed. if a manager has self faith NUFC with the backing should be close to thetop of the list in england given that ferguson or wenger look unlike moving.

What are you f****** on about now? That's how its always been, and always will be. you talk as if they are seperate groups of people. many of those fantastic away supporters are self same whingers and bboers at home. Disagree, in my experience. i was commenting from experience also. -

Alan Shearer should climb off sofa and show that he wants to manage

nailed on then -
glen roeder would agree with you Glenn Roeder showed at all his previous clubs what he was capable of. Irrelevant, only your current club matters, thats why the likes of Daglish got the boot felt sorry for dalglish, very unlucky in losing both shearer and asprilla long term.
-
i don't think so. however poor performances in the 4 after arsenal could see him gone. actually looking forward to the brum game as he will send a team out to go for it.

sounded like a much better performance today. amazing what balance can do. just think if we'd done that V reading, sunderland, derby, boro. ?

strange thing is the players have got off relativly lightly and the manager has deservedly copped the flack. -
if we line up given beye rozenhal faye n'zogbia geremi butt barton milner martins smith i'll not slag off allardyce for his choices, bit of balance for a chanege.
-
i would go.......... given beye rozenhal faye enrique milner butt emre n'zogbia viduka martins playing butt as a more defensive midfielder and emre as the more advanced. i would normally give a prediction as to allardyce's team but i have given up trying to work out what bizzarre formatioin he is likely to try this time.

and what would you expect him to say " yup guv,you av me bang to roights guvnor"

I'd have a street party tbh. me too, already got council permission to block the street off -
can't be hard to challange SSN. just repeat the headlines over and over and have a couple of regional reporters on hand to tell you something is happening behind closed doors and he'll bring it to you as soon as he finds out what.

Very unrealistic. 8th was optimistic. now wildly optimistic

John Cornwell was a serious pisshead as was Michael O'Neil. he wasn't till he came up here and o'neill was a cracking lad. he was at gosforth to finish his exams (geogoraphy in particular) with a friend of mine. they all tried to have a go at the flashy famous lad but he was too good a lad in the end and was very popular. I never said they weren't good lads or popular etc, i just saw them in town a lot pissed as i was at the time as well! Seen Michael O' Neil absolutely mortal and puking his guts up in the alleyway beside Masters on more than one ocassion and Cornwell's flat in Blackfriars was renowned for its wild parties as well. i didn't take it that way, i was just adding a little more into the characters.
-
Nelsen misses our game then, yes? if not violent conduct then i think it starts after 7 days........... i think

Now I was sure that was the fella who got coined when laying down in front of the Gallowgate with a broken leg. Not so sure now though. Anyone remember? aye, even though there was only one tv camera in the main stand it still picked up the sound of the break, john anderson stood in front, glaring at the crowd as some fuckwits threw coins. it was accidental but as it happened i was at the back of the gallowgate corner and everyone around me had their head shrink into their shoulders a bit as that tackle hit.
