  1. No again wrong. It was when he was on loan and Manu said to Everton he cannot play. Since then its compulsory loan players not to play against their clubs. He wasn't on loan, he'd already made the deal permanent but it was a 'gentleman's' agreement that he wouldn't play. but wouldn't that "gentlemans agreement" be against FA rules by another team team influincing team selection ?
  2. Hmmm I don't know, you play your form players and Viduka, Martins and Owen are our form players. I think its moronic all the people that want to drop Owen, he is 2/2 after fulham. What more do you want from a striker than scoring goals? Zoggy has been in indifferent form & Milner has never looked up to it so I don't see why you'd rush back to 4-4-2. All it seemed to give us was a whole lot of no service to our strikers. keegan has history of dropping scorers if its for the good of the team. the reason 4-3-3 has worked is because we've played teams who werent good enough to take advantage of the numerical supremacy in midfield. better teams will.
  3. curiously the bloke who got the quote and printed it is the same boke who, in todays issue of the CRAP says "but now toon insiders believe he is weighig up a deal to sell" ?

    SHOOT!

Aye! He was doing it to Keller yesterday, when the ball was nowhere near him. that means he's more likely to hear him doesn't it. he sits a couple of rows behing me and he does it as a tradition piece.
  5. i like the idea that martins is on the "verge" (suggesting its imminent) if things don't improve over the summer (suggesting it's not at all imminent)
  6. quite right, the bloke should just earmark his entire wealth for NUFC aswell, selling his huge house and living in a carvan at the least.
  7. i dont think he wouuld...he'd take up a different role
  8. Care to explain your reservations? he hasn't got the ability to do it against better teams. true he has shown himself to be a better footballer than some thought but i dont think the 4-3-3 as of now would work against the higher ups (also viduka hasn't the ability to make it happen and martins hasnt the nouse) Fairy nuff. Remains to be seen I suppose. i hope we dont do it with our present set up but at the same time i hope people see owen as a better footballer then previously
  9. i personally dont think players should be allowed to play in a league in which they can affect the team whio hold their registration.

  11. if we play 4-3-3 at spurs we'll be throwing points away. it was ok agianst brum and fulham but with confidence up 4-4-2 away will be better....keegans choice to drop owen, viduka or martins (owen my choice but it wont happen)
  12. butt and enrique were very good. beye and geremi play a game with themeselves that doesnt help us. viduka was enigmatic owen play like he was trying to be mark hughes circa 85. martins has the skill, needs the nouse. faye and taylor lack confidence (in themselves and each other) barton still isnt worthy of a starting place but is getting better week by week. harper made a couple of seemingly easy but tricky-under the conditions-saves. did i miss anyone ?
  13. shouldn't be talking about the back 4's defending but how we defended as a team.

    The Spark

precisely. as HTT says, many managers put their faith in their (best) players as oppose to being tactics mad. ask ac milan how tactically aware fergie is afetr their game(s) last season. its bollocks man. thats wrong lovejoy if you are making out he just picks his best players.
  15. Aye that's what I was thinking. I'm sure Ashley told Keegan how much he had to spend when he took the job, I think it's also believable that Keegan would have told some of his coaching staff what was going on and how much he has available, the likes of Terry Mac are still close to Beardsley so it's not as if he isn't well connected within the club, that's without mentioning him having a private box at the ground and him doing publicity work for the club. I don't doubt that there will be plenty of Mike Ashley's money for transfers (maybe even the £100m mentioned) but why would he tell anyone, including Keegan, the exact figure? From what Keegan has said of his meeting with Mike he was left in no doubt that plenty of funds would be available. Regarding what Beardsley says, he also said at one of these fan events that Steve Sidwell was definitely joining us last season and that didn't happen. I'm sure he thought it was true when he told people but it didn't end up happening. agree with most of that....and a constant i've got on every time transfer season that comes round......i very much doubt any exact figure has been arrived at, they'll do what they think they have to and what they can afford.
  16. we've done both and got burned....lets hope he buys the right players.
  17. boo boo....the mammary with the memory
  18. Different eras and totally incomparable in terms of finance. I agree in principle though. The team that came up and finished third was largely the same team that got us promoted, only really Pedro was added iirc. The real money came later. and even andy cole only joined when promotion looked pretty certain. bracewll, beresford and venison were the only new faces to start the promotion season from the one that nearly went down. rob lee joined about 6 weeks into the season and sellars and robinson well into new year. (off the top of my head so if i'lm wrong no doubt someone will tell) aye thats how i remember it as well. I think I was at Robinsons debut, or one of his first matches, and I remember me and my uncle talking about how good he looked. anyone remember why it didn't work out for him? just not happy being cover for Venison? can't have been much longer than a season before he was off to barnsely iirc. fairly sure robinson and sellars both made their debuts home to barnsley (6-0,cole 4,kelly,sellars) sellars went on to become a vital fisrt teamer, robinson looked like he might progress at that level but i doubt he'd have made it at prem level. vroke his leg in a pre season friendly at hartlepool and drifted out of the squad altogether. edit. sellars and robinson signed in the march. the barnsley game was in april (wasn't their debuts) scorers cole 3, clarke, beresford, sellars Pretty sure both Sellars and Robinson debuted in a midweek 2-2 game. aye..charlton (thanks toonstats....best nufc resource on the interweb)
  19. when i went to the training ground terry mac was as much involved as the other coaches.
