Was would be a more appropriate term, and I'd agree with it over his career, but he's certainly not that at this moment of time. He's missed a boatload of simple chances recently, and without the blistering pace that got him the easy goals earlier on in his career, he's not the lethal striker that we spent £17m on. He's still a good player, make no mistake, but justifying £17m and 100k/week? One of the best finishers in the world? Come on, no one seriously believes that. coming back from how long out, a player who everyone said needed six weeks after 2 month out to get firing. now he's getting back,THIS is the player we bought. be worried if he's not getting in the right place for the chances. watch and he'll get sharper and the finishing will get better.

agreed to a point....but what about his last 20 for us,as opposed to the clubs last 20 ?

And they say KK can't read a game. Without going over the top the things he's getting now from Owen and others is a miracle. that last sentence is hilarious but i agree with the sentiment. remember this is the man who has no idea of tactics etc but he totally changes the formation and pattern of the team to get a load more out of them.

Don't change a winning team. Not a win like that anyway. change a winning team if it's for the better. this wouldn't be. however carroll will get his chance this season (poss next week if vidukas calf aint well according to reports)

we're saying "dropping back" but (and i only heard todays game,haven't seen it yet) in the previous 2 games the front 3 were very flexable. the spearhead of the 3 could be either of the 3 but owen rarely went left and martins rarely went right. viduka would often play either side if one of the others was through the middle. the mobility makes tham hard to mark. owen very rarely gives the ball away,something commented on by a few in the dark days...........the fault being he rarely got it.

totally agreed. it also means thast had maradona played in a very good team in 86 we shouldn't look on him as one of the worlds best players.

if it's all built on "if they get promoted" then a lot of the figures fall down....however if someone somewhere is barmy enough to pay £5mill for chops then who knows ?

saturdays independent had their line up in the middle of malbranque-zokora-jenas-lennon. and i think "we have a chance". huddlestone will probably play instead of jenas/zokora. what we have to do is stop the supply to keane/berbatov. be ineteresting if we play the 3 up front, how their full backs push up and how we (particularly with martins) try to exploit it.
