Think he's half a step above those.
-
his clothes are all tattered and torn.... Remember that so well along with the Seymour graffiti. Should have been preserved as club history that and the one down Bath lane. "newcastle utd" but they'd orignially missed out the "t" so they put an arrow in the gap with the "t" above.

Will my wifes car insurance come down now that he's gone ? (He's a notoriously bad driver and with him out of the NE post code "ye nevah knaa!")

I'm sorry but no, at PSV Depay was clearly a level above, even Wijnaldum. Just goes to show you never know with transfers. If I had to guess though, Depay will almost certainly improve from his current level whereas I would be surprised if Wijnaldum can keep this rich vrign of form up over time. I thought Wijnaldum was voted the player of the season ? he did. strange comment about not being able to maintain his form too, not sure how you'd come to that conclusion. The bloke is a class act, you could see that all season it's just took him a little time to gain some consistency. It's took putting him in the correct position. Well tbf Unbelievable has seen a lot more of him than we have Unbelievable spent time trying to equate Dummetts deflection with the Sunderland referees performance at Swansea in the "lucky bastards" stakes.

Just wondering what others thoughts are for the rest of the season after yesterday ? Now that Wijnaldum is playing in his best position and we have a central midfielder who can pass. Some decent performances recently culminating in yesterdays first half (if that makes sense). Should we be looking at that as a one off and playing above ourselves or should that be the regular standard ?
-
other teams have done that to us this season, let it go left to Dummett/Haidara/Mbabu as we have nothing else over there and leads to a punt or us going backwards and folding in.
-
Colback doesn't even dream of attempting that kind of pass. Let alone actually trying and pulling it off. He did for Sammy's goal vs Spurs but I see your point. It's always frustrated me that he is capable of a pass like that but he's either too stupid or too scared to attempt it. Colback did a little while later but it was higher and less driven which basically meant Janmaat couldn't go outside by the time the ball came to him (annoys the nads off me when people are screaming that a player is open and think the opposition will politely stand still till the ball gets there), that near 70yd driven ball to feet is a talent not many of the best pros can do regularly.

Lacking confidence in the box. Sissoko fizzed one in and he first timed it, just concentrated on keeping it down and on target, made it easy for the keeper. A confident forward would have had it lashed. I'm prepared to give him time but would like another forward in aswell.

Talking to some Hammers in the pub afterwards (christ, couldn't have thought that 30yrs ago!!) and while we were saying that we were so nervous after they got one back, they never thought they'd get anything and it would be a fluke if they did. Wonder how neutrals saw it ?
-
Who'd have thought he wasn't a central midfielder ?
-
disagree a bit. A couple of times he stepped up then halted despite having a huge gap to go into.
-
made easy by comparison with previous midfielders. We were wanking over 10yd forward passes to unmarked players just because we hadn't seen that since cabaye. That driven pass to janmaat was sweet mind.
-
I know what you're getting at but middle of the middle was the crux of it all for me. If you don't protect the defence, even a very good back 4 will concede plenty. If you don't provide chances the best forwards wont score.
-
Lascalles, Dummett or Taylor Colback or Anita Aarons,Perez or Gini.
-
The positive is we now seem prepared to pay the going rate for players with premiership experience. The negative is that it is probably just to try and get us out of the shit and not an on-going building process.
-
isn't that what we've done with shelvey and saivet ?
-
wasn't his worst game. Played very well actually despite being to blame for two goals.
-
don't be silly. If any redirection of the ball by a hand is a penalty, you think it wouldn't enter into players' minds to flick the ball up onto someone's arm if they were in a tight spot? thought you were replying to me. Sorry.
-
wouldn't players then make themselves big so to speak and claim their arms were out before the ball was played. I get your point though, it is a gray area.
-
pretty much where I stand on this. Better if we got a forward aswell.
-
buy good players for positions we need ?
-
Kind of, I saw it that he was thinking of stopping their progress, man or ball, whichever. I still think penalty was the correct call after watching slo-mo's and numerous angles. How the ref came to that conclusion in real time is different though, tbf same goes for our given penalty. The challenge on Janmaat and Fellaini still being on the pitch at the end were still disgraceful though.
