i think it did. cardiff fans have a bit of a reputation and stories had been circulating about things being planned for this game, particularly at whitley bay. the cops decided they'd rather not have them in town on saturday with the shoppers and hopefully if the game is on the friday they hopefully wouldn't stick round for the saturday. thats what i was told anyway.

Is he faster than the Love? don't know...what time is love ?

possibly not but there is no time pressure for bringing loans in..............and with best coming in an outgoing forward wouldn't surprise either.

How exactly are you classifying "a club like us"? ie one which not so long ago was constantly in the top 20 of the highest turnovers in the world in spite of supposed completely incompetent ownership (so obviously with a lot of room to improve it's finances), and which would certainly go straight back in the top 30 at least immediately on promotion. Which clubs has it worked for out of interest? don't confuse turnover with doing well. seems like you are forgetting the outgoings. Not at all. When run properly we have a financial advantage over a lot of teams in this country, all but half a dozen or so at the moment. We can afford higher transfer fees and wages than a lot of teams in the Premier League. There are limits of course, but just because we didn't cross the line and win the league or a cup when we were actually trying doesn't mean we should just give up and be happy to just get by as a club without any ambition other than to stay in the Premiership. This lad is proposing "a club like us" shouldn't get ideas above our station and should settle for buying a couple of cheap players on low wages a year. This is apparently the road to success, but actually it's the road to mediocrity which leads you down the path of falling attendances and reduced merchandising ending up back where we were 30 years ago. the big thing that stands out is "when run properly" and i agree 100% with that. however we are still suffering from not being run properly since about the time robson left.

we should at least retire the no.9 myth. Aye, we've had some good no 9s but only 2, 3 if you count Supermac who were outstanding wearing that number. Don't know if Hughie Gallagher wore that number or not. nobody wore numbers then. Really? Seems unthinkable when you when you look at all the ridiculous squad numbers they have nowadays. Saw Bendtner wearing 52 for Arsenal yesterday William Gallas is number 10 for them, too. Aye thats daft as well. Geremi's number for Ankaragucu is canny though as someone already mentioned whys it daft. i remember ardiles wearing no.1 in argentina '78 I'm a traditionalist. Should always be GK 1 RB 2 CB 5 CB 6 LB 3 RM 7 CM 4 CM 8 LM 11 CF 9 CF 10 imo anyway. not going to happen in these squad days and there were always some curious ones even back in time...ray kennedy no'5,keegan striker n0'7,heighway right wing no.9.

Got to agree, but it must be pretty hard to turn down the payday of a lifetime. You never know when you might get a cruciate injury and never be the same again. If I was a footballer I'd be a proper mercenary! nmot just that but they have to have confidence in their own ability. many slagged off darren bent for a lack of ambitiion when he didn't come here saying we were too big for him at the time.

smith,nolan,butt,guthrie......choose any one.
-
Er no. The team is winning in spite of Hughton is more accurate.... Correcto. neither and both.
-
barton will come back in......choose any one from four for who to drop.
-
don't be daft.

you always tend to watch the pennies more when you are skint.

Wasn't happy with the terms they offered apparently. Southampton fan I work with rates him, but says he likes his money and tends to let his contracts run out. he was quite highly thought of when he broke through at southampton.
-
They will sell him in 18 months for £7-10million + . Great move Ashley. I really don't think that we've missed out on him because of money. Even if we have then it's understandable, we've just started to reduce costs/wages... wouldn't make sense to start breaking the rules now. You reckon with the new wage cap we can't match Wigan for wages now then? In 07-08 Wigan's turnover was £43m. We turnover more than that in the Championship. wonder what our outgoings are compared to theirs ?
-
Would be a cracking signing. Hughton will play him on the right and drop Guthrie. surely that would mean dropping routledge.
-
You actually think we signed Hall and Routledge as a financial favour to one of the worlds richest clubs? I hate to break it to you but Geremi didnt have a year left so its a worthless point how are QPR one of the worlds richest clubs ? surely you aren't getting mixed up with the personal wealth of the shareholders and QPR as a company ?
-
anyone know why he was going to be out of contract in the summer ? did he turn a new one down or were they not going to offer him a new one ?
-
Ambrose is a midfielder, Best is a striker. We need a striker more. What else you need to know? i'm not sure we do need a striker more than a central midfielder.
-
how the mighty have fallen. Gallagher, Milburn, Cole, Beardsley, Shearer, McDonald etc AND Best forgetting shinton, rafferty, clarke, macdonald (rob),shoulder.

i'm stunned that you're stunned. you should know what this place is like by now.
