  1. When we're a comfortable Premier League side? No one is saying they'd prefer shit football over good football if the outcome is the same, what they're saying is that they're prefer shit football and winning over good football and losing. If we can play like Ajax '95 and stay up then fantastic, who wouldn't want that? If we need to play ugly to keep hold of our Premier League status then that's much preferable to getting relegated and putting the future of the club in jepordy. Again. At the end of the day this is all moot. Shortening the width of the pitch doesn't mean we're going to try and emulate Stoke or Fat Sam's Bolton, it can mean any number of things. Last season Hughton showed he very much favoured an attacking style of play at home hence the reason he invested in players like Routledge.
  2. Wow. This is quite a comprehensive victory for the sane football fan.
  3. Spot on. Newcastle to me represent the City, the region, the people and I want to see them inspire and command respect and to have ideals that are solid and lasting. I would rather play in the 4th division with pride intact and head held high than resort to shit like narrowing the pitch or playing weakened teams in the Cup competions. We are Newcastle for fuck sake, not some other shitty club. Does anyone think Keegan or Robson would do it? We are not Stoke City or Wigan. For fuck sake, don't fall for the Mike Ashley bullshit. He has been unbelievably successful in lowering expectations by the look of it. It's a good job I'm not pissed or I'd probably get banned for replying to that arrogant bunch of horse shite
  4. Stalker It's relatively simple to click your username and see where you're based. Until you're shelling out hundreds of pounds a season to watch this team I'll struggle to take your opinion on whether we should lose in style or win dirty seriously. Sorry.
  5. Do you actually pay to go to the games or have you thought up that romantic if not completely blinkered view in your Solihull bedsit? I personally want to see us stay up because another relegation would be disasterous. We'd lose the quality players who stuck around to right the wrongs last season and have to fight an even bigger uphill battle. Some of you lot need reminding that managers don't get paid to set a team away playing good football and lose, they get paid to win. If reducing the width of the pitch helps us then that's fantastic. I don't know why everyone thinks that it is going to instantly negate the threat we pose from the wings. Gutierrez and Routledge aren't your typical get the ball to the byline wingers, they're more than capable of cutting inside and using their pace to cause havoc. Anyway, reducing the width of the pitch typically has more of an effect in the centre of the park where space is limited which could well work in our favour given the type of players we have in that area. It also means there's much less space for teams to get the ball down and play it behind our back two which was a major problem we had when we went down.
  6. I can't believe the width of the pitch is now being used as a stick to beat him with. Has it ever been an issue before? I genuinely can't remember us huffing and puffing about it until now It's the type of stuff that makes you wonder whether there's a more sinister reason for the dislike.
  7. It seemed pretty clear from Hughton's coy remarks yesterday we're in for him. I was quite surprised that we haven't been linked with him more strongly given how close he was to signing for us in the Championship last year. Decent signing if true. He is still a very good defender despite his age, he is someone that the likes of Kadar can learn from and he gives us the option of bumping Saylor to right back where he's better/less of a liability.
  8. He bought a passport off Solano.
  9. How is this even remotely an awful idea? Anyone who wears it will look like a t***. The Nike one? It pisses on the Puma one man. That's not hard but how many people outside the few dozen on here are really that arsed with asthetics? Most people will invest in the kit and those that don't will stick with older/retro shirts. I don't see a market for it and I think it's pretty naff. Man United's green and gold was bad enough, Liverpool's effort is laughable and this is no better. Liverpool have sold 4,500 of their laughable shirts. Liverpool are a laughable club with laughable fans. As are we. Aye, but our laughable fans have a penchant for the official replica shirt no matter how ugly. They'll not settle for any old tat. How are the going to proudly show where they're from when they're on their jollies in Crete without an official replica shirt? God forbid they get mistaken for Notts County fans.

  12. How is this even remotely an awful idea? Anyone who wears it will look like a twat. I'm leaning towards that way of thinking, to be honest. I can't see how it will take off at all. I mean, how is it going to be marketed to the wider (non internet based) support? What is the driving idea behind the shirt? Is it just, 'we don't like the actual shirt'? Not trying to be a twat, I just don't really get why I'm supposed to want to buy it? Same here. I just don't get the reasoning behind the idea. Okay, if you don't like the new shirt that's fair enough but I don't get why any fan produced shirt would be attractive alternative when there are a number of natty retro shirts easily available. I also think we really need to draw a line under the Bobby Robson mourning. He was a great bloke and if any shirt is released I hope the proceeds go to the foundation but walking around with a bloody great big 'Robson 1' on the back? I think there's a point when we need to take a dignified step back and remember we're not scousers.

  14. This is an awful idea by the way.
  15. I've got a season ticket up there so it doesn't effect me but I'm very uneasy about the clubs reasons for doing so. As has been said a lot of anti-Ashley views were aired in that area last season but because people either bought tickets on a game by game basis or bought tickets elsewhere in Level 7 and found a gap it was near enough impossible for the club to police who was up there and consequently ban anyone who whipped out a banner of a slightly rapey nature. I can't imagine it ruining the atmosphere too much. Last season the people who made the most noise were the people you saw every week.
  16. That'll be a short'un. Isn't he crocked until January?
  17. don't think the lad will get a look in unless we have an injury crisis - too much focus and pressure on hughton, he doesn't come across as the type who'd drop a plodder like smith or nolan to give the lad a chance to prove himself unless he goes out in a league cup game and runs riot or something, we'll not hear from the lad imo...probably fuck off somewhere the season after and do well Apart from when he dropped Smith to accomodate the much better, less fancied Danny Guthrie? very, very different dude...we're on a hiding to nothing this coming season and hughton will know it - guthrie is/was not a gamble in the championshit but vuckic would be a massive one in the PL That goes without saying but few if any managers have the luxury of being able to throw youngsters in at the deep end so I don't understand why you're insinuating it's a Hughton issue.

  19. Seriously? You're just posting that now? I may as well put you out of your misery and tell you we get promoted.
  20. I've heard £500k. I'm not too arsed. He was great against us and he provides cover for pretty much every position. I doubt he'll be anything other than a bench warmer once Simpson is fully fit plus he keeps Ryan Taylor further away from the starting XI. http://img.skysports.com/08/01/218x298/Ryan_Taylor_630137.jpg
  21. It's not the worst thing I've ever seen. The way some of you lot are going on you'd think it made your eyes bleed. At the end of the day it's the same black and white stripes we've had for years with a bit of dodgy badge placement. I don't know what people were expecting anyway.
  22. Why air your views to the media rather than the people who can actually make a difference? Unless you've got an axe to grind with a manager who took the captaincy off you for fucking about.
  23. Heard loads & still here the odd black c*** remark when Shola f***s up. Not saying it's acceptable, because of course it isn't, but in those instances "black" is used to describe him, with cunt being the actual insult, and the insult is being issued purely for footballing reasons and nothing to do with race. It's like calling Le Tissier a big nosed twat or Dennis Wise a midget prick. Without wanting to rip off a Stewart Lee joke millions of people weren't oppressed because of their nose or their stature.
  24. Fucking hell, I didn't expect an article that scathing from Mackemnally.
  25. Dunno why you would be. Your take on the original photo is very very wrong. Clearly it's not a photoshop job. Some people are trying very hard to convince themselves that those shirts are fake. They're clearly not.
