But the MPs that are currently pissing on your cornflakes are the ones who are trying to do just that and get laws passed to prevent this type of thing, being stopped by the ones who are avoiding your abuse by trying to keep a low profile and keeping quiet.

Be funny if they feel they can ride on the supposed good-will of the stadium name change, try and do some promo stuff on the pitch at half time and get fucking dogs' abuse.

Maybe the extra spotlight this deal has put on their shady and dubiously legal practices will be the what activists and fans groups needed to push through legislation and ruin them

As mentioned in the article above, lots of MPs and football fans have been going on about this for ages. They're just able to get on the front page about it easier at the moment because of a big money deal at a big money club. That's Wonga and NUFC's fault for doing the multi-million pound deals with the specifc intent of generating publicity, not the fault of MPs or fans groups.

if you mean peoples grandma and grandads, if they didnt have they money they didnt have it. as simple as that. There's always been money lenders. most just went without though. Or they were exploited in other ways, by crooked landlords and employers who forced them to work long hours with little or no pay in dangerous working conditions. Their fault for taking up the job or tennancy though.

And? People chose to do a lot of things for different reasons, it doesn't make it right and let's be honest nobody would make that choice unless they had to. I don't like companies like Wonga, but they aren't doing anything illegal so there's not much I can do about it. Take it up with your MP, maybe that one who's got her knickers in a twist and see if you can get them outlawed if you feel strongly enough about it. It could actually happen. Stella Creasy has been pursuing this for years .

Ever so slight difference regarding legality there. But people aren't talking about legality, they're talking about morality - but as it comes up anyway, the legality of Wonga's operation comes into regular question. The company could see its business model effectively outlawed at pretty much any point over the course of the four years.

Hope our next sponsor is a heroin dealer. I mean, they're not bad people, it's people's own stupid fault for buying it.

Telegraph Sport ‏@TelegraphSport Wonga pay #NUFC £4m PA. By our calculations, if Wonga loaned you £4M your annual interest would be £164M (Plus £5.50 transmission fee)

Well, don't have to wonder if I'll end up shelling out for a strip for the next four years, must be the first time these arseholes have actually saved someone money.

Erm having previous of not displaying the real percentage of APR, taking money out of people's bank accounts who have nothing to do with them, taking it out on the wrongs days and for more than the amount that due to be taken out, chasing the wrong people for debt, having no facility to give a positive credit rating when bills are paid off on time. Yeah, but apart from that... and the aquaduct ...

As for 'as long as it's for the good of the club I don't care if we're sponsored by Union Carbide, Bhopal Division", bear in mind that Wonga only seem to be one legal ruling from complete and utter disaster at any time. They've had a few narrow escapes dodging rulings over their failure to implement fraud prevention measures, misleading adverts and shady collection practices. Unless they're giving us the whole lot cash in hand now, it's one of the riskier companies we could be backed by. And that's before considering the lost revenue from shirt sales and the damage to the Newcastle brand amongst more respectable companies who don't want to be associated with such a toxic brand.

Well, you see, the way it works is that if someone takes out a loan with Wonga and Wonga don't make it clear that they charge 4000% APR, it's not Wonga's fault because the person should have done their research. If Wonga give out loans to people without checking they are who they say they are properly, it's not that Wonga should have done their research it just means Wonga are the victims of fraud and that's not Wonga's fault either.

They're so eager to lend money that there are very few checks in place. So there are instances where they've credit checked one person, given the loan to another, and then chased up the innocent party for the repayments. In some cases, people who've never even heard of them found that they were taking money directly out of their account without their permission. As long as they have the name of someone they can later threaten and shake down, they're not too arsed.

If we're making the comparison with booze, by the way, does that mean the Wonga brand shouldn't be on kids tops, babywear etc, as is the case with alcohol sponsorship?

And the people who never even dealt with them and still end up with ruined credit and baliffs at their door because of Wonga's dubious business practices brought it on themselves as well, fucking scum. IMAWT!
