  1. So now he's getting pelters for buying players and paying them decent money? Do you think his actions, such as our five manager season which got us relegated, have cost the club more than the £100m he loaned us?
  2. Also remember that the money he put in he then spent on things like Alan Smith (£6m fee, what, £13m contract?) covering the losses he made when he took us down through his own stupidity, covering losses from replacing nearly all our paid sponsorship boards with unpaid ones, buying and paying players we didn't need and managers didn't want as favours to friends, paying money to people he wrongly sacked... And none of this money, nor any of his free advertising, including the stadium name change, has reduced the amount we owe him by a penny.
  3. Telefonica own O2. I'd be surprised if they were in the mood to start a big sponsorship deal considering today's news.
  4. Look it up in the dictionary. Extortion (also called shakedown, outwresting, and exaction) is a criminal offence which occurs when a person unlawfully obtains either money, property or services from a person(s), entity, or institution, through coercion Embezzlement is the act of dishonestly appropriating or secreting assets by one or more individuals to whom such assets have been entrusted.
  5. Extortion? Wut? Are you thinking of another word, like embezzlement, which it isn't either?

  7. When they change the Barrack Road sign someone needs to set about it with a sledgehammer or a can of petrol...
  8. I imagine you won't be fine about it, then.
  9. Advertising phones at the exact time and place where no-one is capable of using the product, great idea. Might as well rename the Stadium of Light the Imperial Leather Arena.
  10. But then it's the customer's fault for getting pissed off, don't you see??!!!
  11. Tom Hark/ 'We Hate Sun'lun' Ashley's clothes Are fucking gash They fall apart and they give you a rash They fade in the wash and they fray at the seams Cos they're made by children instead of machines
  12. Not worth the paper they aren't written on, unfortunately.
  13. Want fans of the club you support to be the type who accept such a change? Go support another club. Simples.
  14. I don't think its coincidence that our good run has coincided with a record breaking lull in off-field fuckwittery and circus.
  15. Did the atmosphere in the stadium not contribute like? The general feeling we'd finally sorted things out and got some stability? Ok, let's see if it makes no odds.
  16. Festive one, to deck the halls If you want to buy a sweater Fa la la la la, la la la la You'll find Kitbag so much better Fa la la la la, la la la la Sports Direct use sweat shop labour Fa la la, fa la la, fa la la Lillywhites sounds like a gay bar Fa la la la la, la la la la
  17. Or to the same tune St James's Park Is where we play It was last year and it is today
  18. Already said they won't on twitter.
  19. When we know we have a 'like a new signing' coming in for free?
  20. Not a penny. Would you rather he repaid £10m a year from the loan he has with the club? The free sponsorship is his way of getting his money's worth - weather cash comes in and goes back to MA or no money moves, same end result I would much rather he did that, at least then he would have to decrease the amount he claims to have put in the club. Exactly. None of this 'sponsorship' is going to paying back the money he loaned us and then squandered. Hell, take three and a half years worth out now, might as well, it's not going on players otherwise, is it?
  21. Who inherits the club if anything should happen to Mike Ashley?
  22. jesus christ, 3rd in the fucking league Season finished now like? That position was based on positivity which has now gone as far as I can see. I'd rather Mike took his loan back and fucked off, accept whatever league that might leave us and at least be able to have some pride in the club.
  23. Would like to know how many of those are new grounds. Bay Arena - Bayer Leverkusen - 1958 Signal Iduna Park - Dortmund - 1974 badenova Stadium - Freiburg - 1953 Imtech Arena - Hamburg - 1953 AWD Arena - Hanover - 1954 Rhein Energy Stadium - Koln - 1923 easycredit Stadium - Nuremberg - 1928 Mercedes Benz Arena - Stuttgart - 1933 They are the older stadiums in Bundesliga 1 which have been renamed multiple times for many years. There are even more lower down the leagues. In deals which got the teams money. I'm not arguing against the people saying his brand being advertised is wrong. I am arguing with the "we have sold our history" people. I don't quite get your logic though, just because other teams have done this, it doesn't mean it isn't selling your history or your identity. Maybe other clubs have sold their souls, it doesn't mean we should be happy we're doing it. Go have a look on a video site at fans of those teams and then tell me they have sold their souls. You're missing the point, I'm not saying anything to do with the fans. We might recover in a few years time, and stop being annoyed about this. New generations might forget it was ever called SJP, so it won't matter to them. People who don't appreciate the symbolism of football will continue to ignore its importance. But that doesn't mean this move is right or should happen. Fundamentally in a perfect world it shouldn't but we live in reality and in reality FFP dictates the need to sell the stadium naming rights. It really doesn't, like. So where else will clubs make up the revenue they lose by not selling stadium naming rights. What revenue are we losing? If it wasn't there bother, how can we lose it? As things stand, we're not even making any money from this anyway. And we're losing money from all the free billboards taking up what were previously paid billboards. And if we're only willing to sell the shirt and stadium rights as a package, then we'll not only not have stadium money, we will indefinitely lose shirt sponsorship money until someone comes up with an offer Mike decides is worth his while giving up his free advertising for.
