I think there's a superfluous 'doo' in your title

Who the fuck DOESN'T Willy MacKay represent? Jesus Wept. e: half a minute late, need coffee.

That's what really upset me about that move too, sadly.

i did say it was a stupid analogy mate using yours though, what if you had the money and really needed that car for work? you could buy a cheaper car that would get you to work but you already have one of those anyway and it's not very good, the one you want will do the same job only a lot better and might well end up getting you a promotion 'cause it creates a better impression wouldn't you pay the going rate for that car? i would assuming i had the money, which returning to non-bullshit land for a minute we're told is no issue for NUFC right? everything has it's price I reject the entire "if you want* a player bad enough then pay whatever you have to" school of thought. We don't know exactly how much money is there but there's no sense in spunking, say, 40m on Arshavin or 30m on Turan just to get them through the door. I question the mental faculties of anyone who thinks otherwise.

A much more accurate analogy would be calling car dealerships, looking for a relatively popular model that they likely have in stock, but they're outright refusing to sell to you or want a massively inflated price. You hear from other people that they're trying to buy the same model and meeting similar obstacles and so you say "oh, right, not just me then." Granted, nothing in the real world quite matches the strangeness of clubs owning player registration and contracts, but this is a lot closer than someone defaulting on their mortgage just because they want to.

Sponsorship deal with blizzard worth tens of millions.

Will never understand why the official site carries a gossip column.

I would love it if we were that clever.

What if he really doesn't want to go but is being sold to help fund Michael Owens new contract
-
Very odd. I was never part of the torches and pitchforks brigade looking to hunt him down but I didn't think he was a world beater either. Squad player material and I guess he doesn't think of himself that way, which I hope means he has insider information on a good right sided player coming on.

HAHA FUCKIN HELL GET IN

What a fucking joke

18 possible passes and Geremi picks the only one that was worthless

N'zogbia the most pissed off I've ever seen someone who's just scored a goal

again, isn't Smith injured?? Thought it was relatively minor given KK's postgame quote of "I had lost both my forwards and I had Alan Smith, who is injured and I promised I wouldn't put him on unless there was a crisis." Because they're assuming it was minor and that 3 days of rest likely cleared it up?

Owen is better, without a doubt, and will always score more but it seems to me there's a chronic understating on this board of just what the threat of Martins' pace and tenacity brings to our side. I find it hard to discount him just because his footballing brain isn't as good as Owen's when his mere presence drastically changes how defenses line up against us. I'm happy they're both here, end of.

Sorry just having a bit of a rant. No it wasn't specifically but that really seems to be how the majority of other clubs' fans that I talk to about Newcastle get their ideas. Last week I heard "Oh I heard Ashley was selling to the bin Laden family" said dead seriously.

If anything, it's gone the other way. I don't think anyones net confidence level in our setup has dropped over summer. It may have dipped there in the middle when things had gone too quiet but I'm pretty sure it's picked up for everyone. What fans of other teams have to understand is that the nearly hourly ridiculous "CRISIS IN TOON AS MIKE ASHLEY RENAMES 'ST. JAMES' TO 'SPORTSDIRECT STADIA'" or "DENNIS WISE NAMED PRETTIEST PRINCESS IN GEORDIELAND" stories that you all laugh at and mock us for are, naturally, total and utter shite. Fans of all teams generally apply a kind of BS filter to those stories about their own team but completely turn it off when it comes to others: The Sun is one minute the biggest hive of liars and shitballs on the planet when writing negatively about their team and the next minute bastions of truth and honor when writing negative stories about others. Just try to remember that when you're basing opinions of what's going on at the club at reports from the Daily Mail, Guardian, Sun or any other rag.

Professional athletes are so far removed from the circle of things that affect normal people that I wouldn't think that would be the holdup. I'd wager we're not looking at a long term contract when he wants one, or that we're trying to move towards an # appearances/performance based contract vs a higher base salary and that's slowing things down.
