Unprofessionalism as a defense of the banner ffs No one retains 100% concentration. No one. And people are generally pretty aware of their surroundings. Given noticing a banner causing a huge commotion in the crowd is hardly a damning indictment against him and only reinforces the point that A DISTRACTION IS DISTRACTING. Fucking hell.

Heard it wasn't Barton but Butt going to Bolton. Can only pray there's some truth in it. -

Speaking of 442, maybe this should go in its own thread, but they released an interesting little article yesterday. http://fourfourtwo.com/news/england/23106/default.aspx Half of Premier League clubs are "insolvent" An online credit information provider has claimed that half of Premier League clubs are technically insolvent. In a review of credit ratings for the top flight, Equifax declared that 10 clubs would struggle to repay their debts if they were asked. “We have listed 10 clubs as insolvent because they would struggle if everyone came at once to ask them for the money they owe," explained Equifax's external affairs director Neil Munroe. Click to read the rest, but the interesting part is at the bottom: The Equifax Table 98 Arsenal 93 Man United 71 West Brom 65 Tottenham 43 Blackburn 40 Manchester City 37 Sunderland 37 West Ham 26 Liverpool --------- CLUBS BELOW THIS LINE TECHNICALLY INSOLVENT 18 Everton 17 Stoke City 10 Chelsea 7 Middlesbrough 5 Newcastle 5 Bolton 2 Aston Villa 2 Wigan 2 Fulham 1 Hull 0 Portsmouth* * No accounts filed for Portsmouth at Companies House I have to wonder if this was compiled pre or post buyout or what and on what years figures. I mean it's a bit alarmist just to throw something out there like that and say "look, we're Equifax, we know credit. We don't have to divulge our methods." -
He's played since that photo so it's not very likely.

Plays on the left or right. -
Agree with that. with WHU though - they think what a players actually worth, then double it, then double it again.... What the hell for ? I guess the implication is that he's not going to sell, or allow to be sold, players at cut rate, despite the numerous claims on here (not by you mind) that he's an asset stripper and prepared to offload at massive losses. edit: that 3rd gers player linked/rumoured is Allan McGregor, goalkeeper. Aiden McGeady is the celtic winger.
-
Aiden McGeady is pretty highly rated, wouldn't mind seeing him here. Freely admit I've not seen any of him myself, just going on the general consensus of others. Wouldn't want to lose Given to man city to raise the cash to buy him though. Like you said I don't blame Given either but I can't see him being moved this window without it being an incredible deal.
-
History has shown that it's highly unlikely we'll get many in in January, regardless of year, owner or current manager. So regardless of funds incoming, it would be pointless to sell him now because of the astronomically high unlikelihood of someone being available and willing to sign in the positions we need to fill. I would only be slightly uncomfortable at Seamus leaving for a sum of close to £10m if I had any faith or reasonable expectation in either Joes abilities in the transfer market or the availability of players. Tell him to wait until summer, if he truly wants to go.

fuck me I completely forgot Didn't know if it was serious or not.

Wouldn't play Geremi in the middle of the park. Geremi/Duff - Guthrie - Zog - Jonas. Don't care if it's lightweight, the only thing Geremi brings to the table is being a better pass/cross than Butt, other than that he's just as slow. He would be walked around by West Ham like Butt was by Hull City. Zog might not be the most physical but he'd at least close down quicker and be able to be released on the counter.

It's the Mail so I wouldn't pay much attention to it. That said, it's disgusting if the bit about Bridge being on £90kpw is at all true. Players like him and his two clubs (current and former) are ruining football. Did any NUFC fans complain about 'ruining football' when we signed Shearer for a WR fee ? Please tell me you're not equating the signing of a left back who's been playing in the Chelsea reserves for 3 years with someone who, at the time of signing, was already widely regarded as one of the best strikers around. People, NUFC fans and not, are "complaining" because it's seen as a disproportionate amount to be paying for a player of that caliber at that position. World class strikers command huge fees. Seeing reserve left backs pull that wage and that fee only fucks up the pricing for everything else. When you're losing 0 - 3 to the likes of Nottingham Forest, Left Back is probably one of the last pieces you need to find. -
The best person to run the club is the best person to run the club, wherever they're from. Chance geographical birth location should be an interesting bit of minutiae, not a requirement.
