  1. I don't think so, very similar situation to us. Antonio and Wilson are very similar, both are very good and in an age where they don't want to be sitting on the bench but both teams desperately need another option too. Broja would be great for both of us but West Ham are playing more games due to Conference League.
  2. What makes you think we want to enter the market for a LW too with all the trouble of signing a ST and a RW? Never going to happen IMO no matter what Howe thinks about ASM. ASM’s potential ceiling is also very high, I’m sure Howe wants to try to see if he can improve him before looking at other options.
  3. We desperately need another striker and a right winger yet you think we are loaning out our LW too?
  4. Yup, the only reason he would even entertain the idea of joining us right now is higher wages. I probably wouldn’t leave a team I just helped get in to the CL and potentially risking a spot in one of the best squads of the WC. He’s young enough to get his big money move later.
  5. Yeah, it’s not impossible and would be a huge lift to the status of the club. It will just be incredibly hard. Big six squad values are 2-3 times that of ours and they are likely to spend just as much as we are spending. They also have sellable assets that we sadly lack for the foreseeable future. Then there’s the next tier of well ran clubs that are spending too that we would have to overcome.
  6. I honestly think most people are expecting too much in a too short time frame. PL is really tough right now in the top half, 'big six' followed by clubs like Leicester, Villa, West Ham and Wolves. Looking at the squad values (https://www.transfermarkt.com/premier-league/marktwerteverein/wettbewerb/GB1) we are only ~50 million euros ahead of Palace and Southampton who are at the bottom if we exclude the promoted teams. We are massively behind Leicester and Villa who are 7th and 8th. We need to be the best of the rest just to qualify for the Conference League. To get to CL we need to be ahead of everyone else and three big six teams who are all constantly spending crazy amounts of money too. CL football being such a pull for the elite players makes it hard for us to sign the same caliber of players that teams who are/have been in the CL keep signing. Then there's the FFP. We had a great run to end the season but I don't see it sustainable no matter how good Howe is. In the long run you need to have a squad that is relatively close with the teams you are competing with. I'm extremely happy with our new owners and basically everything they've done so far but I just don't see getting to the CL even in 4-5 years a very likely outcome. The damage Ashley did to us will take years and years to overcome. It's nice to have the club back but hope our fans can keep their expectations realistic and can enjoy that we are trying again.
  7. Are we a European powerhouse and did he sign a lifetime contract?
  8. Everyone slagging off PSG for going for the big stars. Now trying a more sensible approach that everyone wants us to do too but it's seen as they are just giving up.
  9. He chose to go to PSG to compete in a third tier level without having a chance to compete for the CL because they lack the players instead of coming to NUFC?
  10. So a better chance to compete for the CL at Newcastle in near future for Hugo? Deluded Geordies not so inaccurate.
  11. From Reims to PSG? You can be frustrated that he didn´t come here but no need to be fucking stupid about it.
  12. Still doesn't make sense. They are basically the same player based on everything (stats, age, team, position) but because Bailey was a bit cheaper (contract, wanted to leave, impact of covid?) he's somehow a lesser player and more likely to flop?
  13. Yeah, and somehow the much hyped 5 sub rule doesn't seem to apply to Ekitike and he'll forever be on the bench.
  14. Wasn't he just constantly injured and way too early to write off? Looking at Bailey's and Diaby's stats in the same team in 20/21, Bailey had 9+9 and Diaby 4+12 in Bundesliga. Bailey (0.54) also ahead in non-penalty xG+xA per 90 minutes against Diaby (0.46). Just seems weird when you think Diaby could get us up the league while slagging off signings like Bailey.
  15. Carroll was not interested in being an athlete, doubt nothing would have changed if he stayed here longer.
  16. All this is good for Ekitike, no? Gets to play and practice with Messi and Neymar for a while and then they are gone.
  17. Fucking hell. Good for the lad, must be surreal to go to the first practice and see Messi, Neymar and Mbappe next to you. He will still be young too even if he fails to break through at PSG. If a NUFC fan is salty that someone chooses PSG and Messi over our beloved project that hasn’t really even left the station yet, give your head a shake ffs.
  18. Everyone was disgusted when Rafa signed him but he actually was a really good signing and very dependable even at the PL for few seasons. Solid pro too that never complained. Bit sad how it ended for him here, we should have moved on from him a season or two ago and he would have been remembered as a cult hero.
  19. I don't think Dubravka sees it as a fair competition and I agree with him. Howe brought in Pope and he's in his prime age now with a likely spot in the World Cup squad. Pope would start the season in any case IMO and would have to hit absolutely terrible form for Dubravka to have a chance at replacing him. Him being 34 is not really the time in his career to have an unbalanced fight for the starter's job. Funny how some are frustrated with Dubs for wanting to play while being frustrated with the deadwood we have for not been interested in playing, whatever is best for the club and fans I guess.
  20. Has anyone played the draft version in any other place than the official one? Would love some recommendations, really like the concept but the official one is just too bad with no options for customisation.
  21. I’m not saying RvP wasn’t a good signing, just not exactly a up and coming young striker.
  22. We would still have to pay their wages and I see no reason why someone like Hendrick would accept any less than he is owned. Believe anyone with few years left but no future here will be getting loaned out for the rest of the contract with us still having to pay some/most of the wages.
  23. Was older than the dinosaur Falcao when he signed for them. No doubt still in his prime but he wasn’t going to get better.
  24. How could you call it a transfer strategy? You can’t really say no when the second greatest footballer ever and a club legend wants to come back? I don’t really see how it’s any different to what SAF did. They were an extra to what they had and I would only class Falcao as a flop and he was the one that was supposed to be in his prime. Man United have been bad enough for a decade now that you don’t have to make things up to have a laugh at them.
