It might seem 100% meaningless to big countries like England but it's pretty important to smaller nations who don't automatically qualify to every tournament. I really don't understand how someone could choose friendlies over the Nations League format.

Why? Infinitely better than 100% meaningless friendlies.

Donnarumma, Barella and one or two of the CBs imo. Edit. Didn't notice 'squad' but those would be starting.

Massive mistake to give him another tournament with this set of players, you've been terrible for ages. Southgate did well to unite the country behind the team but he's so far out of his depth now.
  5. Lampard has made Everton really solid at the back and they are a team that’s hard to beat due to their fighting spirit. I think it was the only option for Lampard with the squad he inherited but he’s been successful at that. Comfortable 12th-15th place finish IMO and there’s not much more you could expect from them right now. Gerrard looks completely lost and has a squad that should be fighting for 7th-9th but is not getting the results and they play awful football. Seriously can’t see him being capable of turning them around.
  6. That's never a second yellow, horrible decision.
  7. I'm sure SBR could have lifted a trophy with us if he had the likes of Wood, Almiron, Fraser, Murphy, Willock and Longstaff to play with instead of Shearer, Bellamy, Robert, Solano, Dyer and Speed.
  8. SBR had a lot less talent too?
  9. I wouldn't touch the Leicester job right now if I was Frank. Would be interesting to see if he could adapt and handle a bigger team, so far to me he seems like a great manager for a smaller club but could possibly struggle in a bigger club where it's not only about results but also style of play. Obviously he's very smart and would probably be able to change his philosophy in a different environment but would still be interesting.
  10. Yup. Frustrating but think we'll see many more teams park the bus at SJP after today's struggles.
  11. Of course he's not happy with the squad but you can't replace everyone in two windows considering the quality and price of players we are targeting.
  12. https://www.transfermarkt.com/newcastle-united/startseite/verein/762 Not relevant in any way but interesting IMO. Transfermarkt have updated their player valuations this week. Isak, Bruno, ASM, Botman, Joelinton, Willock, Pope, Almiron, Longstaff, Schär, Murphy (!) and Anderson had their values raised. Shelvey the only player with a decline.
  13. Of course but I also think it's kneejerking to say he is as unreliable as Wilson when he has played 34, 30, 34, 26, 25 and 35 league games during his career so far. Could get more fragile with age but he's still relatively young.
  14. It's absolutely pointless though when he's playing in a position where he is expected to contribute in goals and assists.
  15. We do need two new wingers but ASM has played in 35, 25 and 26 PL matches for us. That's almost 29 games per season on average. The three seasons before joining us he played 34, 30 and 34 games in Ligue 1. It's frustrating that he's injured but this feels a bit like re-writing history after a frustrating set of results.
  16. Who is a 33 year old mascot at this point of his career? Absolutely pointless debate, neither is good enough and if Howe picks Murphy ahead of him I trust his decision.
  17. Was a game more suited to Wilson as a CF. And another proof that Howe has to find a way to play them both when Wilson comes back. Isak's abilities should work at wide forward too.
  18. Murphy will be here until 2027, thanks Mike.
  19. Of course but THERE'S NO ONE ELSE available.
  20. You think I see Murphy as an answer? Fact is Murphy and Wood were the only options from the bench and Fraser isn't really fit to play nowhere near 90 minutes.
  21. We have performed really well but we are lacking the quality to convert our possession to goals. Thinking last seasons form would carry to this season after we are still forced to start Fraser and Almiron while Murphy and Wood are the options off the bench is just simply unrealistic. Today was a worse performance than the Crystal Palace game but Bournemouth's bus was well organised and we still did enough to win that game on another day. No idea what Bruno has done wrong either and everyone should have known that Willock's purple patch under Bruce wasn't sustainable.
  22. The booing after the final whistle is so embarrassing, so much for just wanting a team that tries for a large portion of our fans. Deluded Geordies not so deluded comment after all. Hope these few games are a reality check to the people that think we should be fighting for a top 6 spot this season. No, Almiron, Fraser and Murphy didn't suddenly turn to top 6 players overnight after all. That massive unsustainable run to end last season really raised the expectations too high, this squad can't be fixed in two transfer windows but we are making great progress.
  23. Hot under the ass ffs. Stunned that I have to read shite like that here, fucking deluded is appropriate.
