Been really impressed with how much tighter we are at the back. He was always going to improve us massively with the ball but positively surprised how much better we are off the ball too.

He’s actually a decent option at LB in Howe’s preferred system. He can do alright defensively in a 4 man backline and having ASM at the same side means he doesn’t have to support that much in attack. If ASM needs support Joelinton can provide that. I could do without seeing his trademark turn to the sideline followed by a blind hoof with his left foot when under the slightest pressure but that’s never going to go away at this point. Being solid defensively is probably the top priority for a LB at this situation if we can’t sign a new LB.

The only reason he's a PL footballer is his presumed ability to deal with crosses but he even failed at that today. Just nowhere near good enough.

ASM had been extremely poor but he’s our only player who can score from nothing so just have to live with it and hope for moments like that.

They are Burnley, playing neanderthal football while being likely to get relegated. They could get someone better but it will be so hard for them to get anyone signed.

If we had to settle for Wood, how in the world are Burnley going to find someone better for that money? I love this signing. We are weakening a direct competitor in our mini-league and he's a proven goalscorer in the PL. Getting +10 goals per season in that Burnley team isn't exactly a poor resume. Fee we paid is insignificant, if he helps us avoid relegation he was a bargain.
