    NUFC Transfer Rumours

He played 658 minutes in the league.
  2. Just one of these is in PL. Three in Europe where the refereeing is always a wild card depending who you get. Only one in the league is a proper choke-hold.

Hall would help with CB depth too as it would release Burn to backup CB duties. Lascelles is absolutely fine as a 4th choice CB for now IMO.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Chilwell is only 26, Cucurella seems to be unmovable with his fee and wages and selling him wouldn't really help with FFP anyway. Then they also have Maatsen who is only 21 and looks like a real prospect. Hall's path to first team is heavily blocked, they probably see getting £30m for him a good business right now as he's after all still very unproven and would be pure FFP profit. Don't see much risk for us though for £30m, he's so young that even if he doesn't develop as expected we are getting most of the money back at some point.
  5. This is a bit different to Mendy as there's audio and pictures around. Mendy was just word against word in the end iirc.
  6. Wasn't her dad the biggest defender of Greenwood?
  7. Of course but there are still differences. Different refereeing, longer travels, playing twice a week all season affecting training routine etc. I've been saying all summer that some people are overrating the level of opponents in Champions League but I'm not going as far as you are. There are still good teams in every pot.
  8. I think we are fucking class but I also think so are many other teams who have more experience of playing in Europe and variance can play a huge role in a six match group stage.

    Alexander Isak

Someone like Willock for £50m or Longstaff for £30-40m. Potentially Wilson if he gets extended or Almiron next summer due to their age. Even Joelinton ( ) as he gets closer to 30 in a couple of seasons. Maybe flip Gordon or Barnes for someone who is genuinely world class in a couple of seasons obviously depending on how they develop here. Would absolutely hate most of these but they would be the tough decisions based on logic and not emotion while staying away from the elite tier of Isak, Bruno, Tonali, Botman who you build your team around.
  10. Bookies always seem to give us leeway in the case we suddenly splash the cash when the transfer window is still open. Napoli absolutely cruised to a Serie A title and have kept most of their squad intact including Osimhen and Kvaradona, they would always be my favourites if we end up in the same group. Seems a bit arrogant to write off all the clubs in pot 3 too. Milan, Lazio and RB Salzburg (without knowing anything about their recent transfers) could be tough.
  11. We are better than Barcelona, Napoli, Bayern Munchen or PSG? Benfica are canny too but always lose players. Pot 2 has decent teams too outside the obvious Real Madrid. Inter, Dortmund, Atletico, Leipzig or Porto aren't exactly pushovers. It won't be easy in any case but it's guaranteed to be fun.
  12. It's my personal opinion but never really warmed to Sissoko or Gini and we got relegated before their big moves (only season in Gini's case). Obviously the moves made sense for them but I wasn't feeling happy or proud when I was watching them in the CL final. Ayoze endured a lot of crap during his long tenure here and never let us down, thought he deserved to get out to a real club at that point.

I don't really see the logic in selling your best players and hoping you can somehow replace them. We are going to be selling big names but they should be on the tier below the elite players that are helping us compete for trophies. Bruno and Isak are untouchables unless their heads are turned by Barca/Real Madrid.
  14. I think it has a lot to do with how the player left. It's clear Tonali wasn't asking for the move this summer but his club preferred to have the coin instead of his services, no point in being angry at the boyhood fan for leaving in those circumstances. I never wished anything good for players that used us as a stepping stone like Sissoko and Gini (Ashley-era and all that but still) but always cheered on players I liked that were forced out or naturally moved on to bigger things like Ayoze, HBA or now ASM. Same for Carroll after he left Liverpool because fuck Liverpool.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

He's just on the other side of the pitch and using his other foot but it's the same position, it's not like Trippier couldn't help him too.
  16. His career at the top level is done, he needs to have a tight grip on that contract. He'll get a loan somewhere but we are still paying at least half of his wages.
  17. It’s not Maguire’s fault Man Utd signed him to massive wages. Love laughing at him but he shouldn’t just accept a big pay cut to help Man Utd, especially when Southgate starts him no matter what.

    Dogawful Officiating

Yeah, I can't understand why the on-field referee can't indicate that he didn't see it properly and wants to have another look on video. Now there's way too much respect on the original call that could've been 100% a guess and somehow the on-field referee 99% of the time goes with the call made by VAR. Let the on-field referee see it again if he needs to and make the decision based on the video.
  19. Definitely could go either way. Never easy to replace someone like him even with infinite money but he's getting old. Looked sharp on Sunday but players of his age can hit the wall surprisingly quickly. Personally I would hold on for this season as they are guaranteed to get massive money for him next summer too from the Saudis no matter how he does this season.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I don’t see what’s not smart in getting either Tierney or Cucurella in on loan. Can’t see it happening though, no reason for Arsenal or Chelsea to help us.
  21. Cunha has been incredibly fun to watch.
  22. You need some new material mate, getting boring.

That goal was basically unstoppable, lovely first touch from Havertz.
  24. That was just the same Man Utd, will win lots of games 1-0 without ever really looking good.
