  1. I wonder how Martins can accept such treatment. Transfer request is a must imo. I find it hard to believe Martins is being left out for Smith... any chance Martins is not fully fit? He'd have to be in a fucking coma to be worse than Smith.
  2. These are always the worst games when you know you're going to get hammered as soon as you see the starting line up.
  3. But we haven't won any of our last 6 home games. All of them bar Man U and maybe Man City were winnable games. What makes you think we're capable of winning 3 of our remaining of our remaining 4? Because we're playing much better and we're playing three teams who have one away win all season between them?
  4. i go along with most of that but i think we have may chance picking up a point at west ham and portsmouth than getting anything against chelsea. birmingham is winnable on blackburn form. im optimistic (if i had to bet i'd bet on us staying up.....and i've bet against us on several occasions...fuck off with the booing, money is season ticket money)and not making a noose yet. We've played Chelsea at home at the back end of the season every time in the last four years and they're yet to beat us, including last season when still in the title race. That race might well be over by the penultimate game and if they're still in the FA Cup or particularly the Champions League, I'd be confident.
  5. Win the three home games we should be winning, Fulham, Reading and the mackems and that will be enough to keep us up imo. There are other available points there too - Birmingham and Chelsea stand out for me, even West Ham and Pompey we can get something from. I'm not optimistic but neither am I slitting my wrists just yet.
  6. There are only 9 outfield players in bibs so someone's missing at least. Damien Duff though. What does this fuckwit have to do to be dropped?
  7. Well, eerrr.......Veron did more in his career than Craig Bellamy, but there you go eh Whattsa matter, can't your mate Matthew argue his own points, or are you as prolific a supporter and as knowledgeable about the club as he is mackems.gif http://www.gameguru.in/images/looney-tunes-2.jpg
  8. Smith has shown more in his career than Geremi has?
  9. Fredbob brought up Luque Dave, not me. Standby the comment that Smith was good before his injury, same as Duff and Owen. Time will tell. Trend continued with Viduka and Barton too ie players who were good elsewhere but not here, so far. All good players once. Johnny Averages like Geremi and Cacapa to supplement them don't help matters, still thats the standards that were set out by the new chairman who said they were "good business". Smith and Duff should be given a chance because of what they did for other clubs, yet you dismissed those who pointed out Luque was good for another club. And Geremi and Cacapa are now dismissed despite what they did for other clubs. Spot the double standards. not in the slightest. I made a judgement of Luque the first time I saw him. I judged him to be a waste of time and money. It depends what you look for in players And plenty of others did exactly the same with Smith. Funny how you've gone quiet on that front. No surprise to see you attribute the failures of Cacapa (multiple league title winner) and Geremi (multiple league title winner) to the new board and this imaginary policy btw. Fucking incredible. But we're digressing. Carry on. Cacapa and Geremi are over the hill tho Dave (both free iirc). Past success in football doesn't guarantee future success. As you/Baggy point out with Smith. We had to pay Geremi a £2 million signing on fee to cover his drop in wages because Allardyce rated him so highly, I don't remember anyone saying he was over the hill back when we signed him either. SBR did phone the club to tell them his legs had gawn. Like Solano's presumably.
  10. How did the new lads do Fugazi? Zamblera?
  11. I don't think Geremi's been anywhere near as bad as some people make out tbh. Still has something to offer imo.

Poyet wants his teeth kicking out the back of his skull. Preferably by Rob Lee but I'm not fussy.

Spurs got off lightly. Didn't see much of the first half, but PSV absolutely took the piss in the second. Some of their passing was superb. Never seen them before but Farfan and Afellay were top drawer.

    Nowt trivial I hope.
  16. Why half joke? Smith getting banned would be the best thing all round. Hope he plays now.
  17. If we're going to get beat, damage limitation is crucial. Our goal difference could well act as one less point should it go to the wire. Personally, I think if they have an off day and rest a couple of players, which they will, there's no reason why we can't take points away. Shitter teams than us have got something there this season. Play like we did against Blackburn and we can too. Tall order I know. I hope the players haven't written it off or we are fucked.
  18. Quality. We need a catwalk celebration when we score the winner at Anfield.

    Who is better?

The only thing that's valid in that is the better football played. The other qualities that you have listed are ones that Fergie possesses as well. Tell me he doesn't know when to sell players at the right time (Stam, VRoy, Smith, Butt, Beckham etc.). He knows how to nurture young talent (Ronaldo - see how much he's developed in 3 seasons - and of course the kids who won him the title) and the other two qualities are blatantly things that Fergie has as well. There's never a wrong time to sell Alan Smith tbf.
  20. Aaaaah. Hiring the manager that the team directly above us had just binned. That'd have gone down well.
  21. Just because Owen is shite now hardly makes it an entirely different situation. He sorted our crappy defence with Henchoz and Hyypia, brought in McAllister and Hamann, who won us a lot of silverware. Admittedly, they're just a few inspired signings amongst five times as many shite ones. Nevertheless, he took us from more or less where you were when SBR left to an historic, if second-rate, treble and a second place finish in the league. He's not the World's Greatest Manager, but he'd be a better man for this particular job than Keegan. Houllier doesn't have any experience at this end of the table, his transfer record is pretty poor iyam and he is dour. He even took over Lyon when they were 3 or 4 time Champions so none there either. His Liverpool record in the League, having taken over a side that finished 3rd, reads: 7th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 5th, 4th. Stable but hardly ground breaking. Not saying he's not a good manager, but I don't think he ticked the boxes for this job in our situation.
