    Jeff Stelling

When I was watching tonight I really wished Stelling had been on, Hartlepool 2-0 down with 25 minutes left, ended up winning 3-2 with two goals in the last three minutes. Love to have seen the reaction.
  2. We were still piss poor second half though. Couple of games (I can notably remember Derby and Birmingham at home off the top of my head) we were level and piling the pressure on until half time, I was totally confident we would beat them out of sight second half, we came out and we had absolutely fuck all to offer. Where we were failing to keep pressure on, now we're conceding. That's just because we're playing better sides. Said to my mate at half time during the Villa game, "By 55 minutes, it'll be 1-1 for certain." I was wrong, it was 2-1.
  3. Because he's garbage? I realise he had to play today in Charlie's absence but he is beyond awful. Did you see him after about ten minutes watching a loose ball sit dead still until a Villa player picked it up? Kick him out.
  4. Abysmal again. Couldn't pass water.
  5. Please don't tell me you spent some of your holiday watching that. I've had about 6 pints, it's poured down all day and I had to sit next to a load of mackems in the pub. It's not been the best day so far.

    Stephen Carr

One of the worst players ever to play for us in the Premiership era, and that's quite a list.
  7. A typial 07-08 NUFC performance. Decent first half, absolutely woeful second, but the team selection was all over the place. The bench read like a list of our best players. Four of the five should have started and even Harper was a nice change from Given's recent performances. Butt, Carr, Smith and Duff shouldn't play for us again. Get the other lads in and get them all out ASAP.
  8. They were singing "you don't know what you're doing" too. They don't show that clip every week on MOTD like they do with Allardyce. No, they actually had a feature on last night about how fickle the Chelsea fans have been and bumming them in the process. Not a hint of criticism.
  9. You can't play different sides home and away. Breeds inconsistency imo.
  10. This season, there's barely been a morning that's gone by without a vitriolic article penned out of pure hatred by someone in the national press. Prior to this season, I'd probably have agreed with you that every club thinks they get a rough deal, but not anymore. As far as the press goes, from our region right down to Fleet Street, the knives are well and truly out and they will say or print anything to get their way, which is Keegan out, Ashley gone and the thick Geordies having to accept that their deluded "big" club can never compete with the really great clubs in this country like Spurs and West Ham. Fuck 'em.
  11. The cameraman didn't catch Duff and the defender when the ball was played, they were too far ahead of the play. How convenient. Looked miles on from where I was sitting, lush through ball from Charlie.
  12. I've just seen their goal and the Aliadiere goal. Fuck me, astonishing. Even worse than I thought for their goal and I'm sure I've seen some people on here say Aliadiere was onside! He was about three weeks off! Notice our friends at the BBC didn't show Duff scoring either, I'd like to see that again.
  13. Faye is as much a midfielder as a defender. Bolton fans were certainly of the opinion that he was their best midfielder. Faye is a midfielder, he said in an interview that he was a midfielder before he joined Bolton and that that's his preferred position. The reason he played there for Bolton was Gardner got injured so they had to move Ben Haim to left back. I was of the opinion that he should go into midfield with Cacapa and Taylor continuing their partnership, but not sure I fancy Cacapa's height up against Laursen and Carew.

  15. Duff's vs. Stoke? Aye good point, wonder when last in the league. Pretty ironic considering we only had ten men in that game. Chelsea scored a fantastic goal yesterday, front to back in about 15 seconds.
  16. Agreed, Owen is frustrating but you know he will pop up with a goal. You don't have that confidence in Martins. I think we need 2 new strikers. Precisely the opposite, imo. When Owen has one game plan and he sticks to it. You know what to expect from him. When he's playing poorly, he probably won't get a lot of goals. Granted, he's still a pretty skilled player so I'm not writing him off completely. Martins on the other hand, even if he's shit for 89 minutes, you never know when that speculative midrange screamer is going to hit the net (at WHL last year), or when he'll twist and turn impossibly in the box to get a body part on the ball (3rd goal at Bolton on opening day). That's one of the reasons I'm looking forward to seeing him play under Keegan. I think Allardyce stifled him a lot with instructions not to shoot too much from outside the box etc. Even more than his pace Oba's greatest asset is his utter unpredictability. You never know where the goal's going to come from and even if he's not particularly prolific, that's absolutely horrifying for a defender to defend against. Martins is as much a confidence player as you'll see. He is erratic but when he's on his game, he's very hard to stop and he will score goals - Blackburn, Alkmaar, Watford last season, whenever we play Spurs. If Keegan can put that confidence in him, we can get back to that.
  17. Speaking of counters, I wonder when the last time we scored from a counter attack was, a proper counter attack, breaking from a corner or a free kick. Teams always look likely to do it against us.
  18. What a load of nonsense. Please elaborate on your views Wullie. So you don´t agree that after scoring a goal (one goal) after 3 games without a goal we should try to score another? Yeah right be real man. I reckon we are twice as likely to succeed by defending a lead than to score another with our so called strike force. You just said "typical Keegan always attacking", now you're advocating attacking? Make your mind up. I'm talking about the game today, and I'm not advocating attacking after we scored, where do I say that? Make YOUR mind up and read what I said "So you don´t agree that after scoring a goal (one goal) after 3 games without a goal we should try to score another?" Yes I do agree that we should have tried to score another, and we did try. Glad we cleared that up. Okey, let me refrase that then.......So you think that after scoring a goal after 3 games without a single goal we are more likely to score another than defending our lead with 30 mins to go? 3 games without a goal, two of which were away at the Emirates you mean? Of course we should be trying to kill a game off at home against Middlesbrough.

  21. Definitely. At least Boro came here with the intention of having a go, unlike most of the sides this season. You're joking surely. 4-5-1 and kick the shit out of the opposition anti football, which is what Southgate always says he doesn't do (and usually doesn't tbf). They had a go when they had to at 1 down.
  22. Agreed, Owen is frustrating but you know he will pop up with a goal. You don't have that confidence in Martins. I think we need 2 new strikers. Speak for yourself. Martins has more goals than Owen this season from less games up front.
